Ug, this sucks. I was browsing my Austar channels, and noticed that Main Event had a replay for day 2 of Blizzcon listed (Didn't even realize they were gonna show the event).

Minorly bummed that I missed day 1 live and repeat, but was kinda interested in checking it out. So I checked main events web page, and discover that if I'd ordered both days 1 and 2, I could have registered for and gotten the Blizzcon polar bear mount :(

Methinks I should pay more attention to the TV guide, if stuff like this is gonna start getting air time on OZ pay TV >.<;

BTW: While I decided not to bother myself, the day 2 repeat is still on main event now(Ends after today), if anybody is interested and wants to blow $15.

Why would anyone pay to watch blizzcon, only for the mount? You're basically paying 30bux for footage of an event that cost 100 USD to attend and was sold out in 15 minutes. Plus, the advantage of hearing news LIVE.

Even if I was still playing WoW, I wouldn't have wasted money on watching blizzcon on main event just too receive that lame reward of a polar bear mount. Honestly tanking was never that hard too begin with, unless whomever was tanking had no idea on what too do. It was only a little bit hard when doing a 10man when your gear wasn't exactly up to scratch.

Wolf and i duo'd Ring of Blood (cept for the last guy cause he rages and you really need to down him fast, so we got another dps) but i coulda just rolled my face on the keyboard and kept agro. <_< We both kept Seal of Light up (it stacks) and he chucked me an occasional Flash of Light. Piece of cake. :P

To those who think that tanking is easy, go tank some Kalecgos and Brutallus, then talk about trying to hold threat from 15 nutters who are going balls-to-the-walls DPS and trying to keep abrest of the boss' kill move cooldowns and your own oh-shit cooldowns.

It might not be slow per say, but it's a lot slower than the alternative.

Plus windfury has a hidden 3 second cooldown between procs, but knowing you you are probably using Earthliving. If you are using anything faster than 2.0 speed YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.
Go get two weapons with weapon speeds of say, 2.2 to 2.8 (slower the better) enchant them both with windfury, and get the mod Disqodice. Now you can time your stormstrikes to proc windfury for MASSIVE DAMAGE. I also saw your stormstrike is nowhere near an accessible button, it's your main spam skill!
Daggers are cool and all but when using them makes you and your dps ****ing retarded, its best to use fists or maces.

Also, 30% haste plus 10% haste on a 1.5 speed weapon isn't impressive. Doing so with a 2.7 speed sword is impressive ;D

What spec is FX's shaman anyway? If he isnt enhance (i can't see any of the enhance skills on his bar) what weapon would he be using anyway? I thought shields were all the rage with the elemental shammys

I got one of the spell rings on my warlock (i had another better ring on her already so i only needed the one) and both spell rings + dps ring on my pally for my offsets aaaaand still yet to receive the helm and possibly the sword on my fury warrior, i got the dps ring for her last year though >_>

Instance cleared in ~3 hours (we had to break for an hour due to "scheduled maintenance"), with a mostly Kara-geared semi-PUG and me tanking (well, offtanking, other tank was much better).

It was a great experience, and one I wish to repeat this year.

1 a day, but theres a quest that the orphan matron gives you to go kill him (cant remember if its daily or not) allowing you to do it twice in a day.

just depends how many in the group can summon him. do it earlier in the day to make sure there aren't any guys who have used up their attempts already.

Heh. There are a few people doing it. I have my second account (from RaF) and made an alt on RaF account, used RaF-summon to get them to town. Made alt on main account, got it RaF-summoned to town. Alternate Trick or Treating, making new alts and summoning. Got me all the wands eventually. :P

I think that the achievement system is really bringing out a rather pathetic side to a lot of players. The achievements are meant to be incidental rewards for enjoying the things you do in the game, not rewards on their own right. You're not meant to go out and do Lv.8 Azeroth quests for the 1,500 quests achievement because (a) that's boring, and (b) the achievements don't make your character any more powerful.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with, say, doing all the Halloween stuff. But you should run HH because you enjoy the encounter not because you desperately need 10 nerdpts.

I agree with the pathetic part, especially the current trend of scammers trying to sell random wand charges (which dont count for the achievement). The links I added to your quote say otherwise to what is made into a link I believe.

Anyhow, Achievement Points are basically a highscore, and that says to me that its another way to 'win' the game, so why is it so wrong to go out of my way to do achievements regardless of their frivolty.

1. You can solo the MC attunement in BRD.
2. You can solo the Onyxia attunement in BRD.
3. You can solo the BWL attunement in BRM.
4. No attunement needed for AQ40.
5. You can solo the Naxx attunement by buying it.

AV we're alright. WSG is fairly crap, EoTS is terrible at times, and AB is a bit of hit and miss.

Um, I logged on to maynard and entered an AB - game crashed and now I can't log back in to him (loading bar fills up and stops). I'm kind of bored at the moment so I haven't bothered to send a petition on Syt to get Maynard back. Oh, un'goro is probably best. Just do laps around the edges and hit up the caves and the silithid cavern. Once you can mine rich thorium, include the center volcano in your travels (I'd go up to it via. the scar). Remember to get a mining to gloves enchant so you can leave the zone at 295 instead of 300.

It's a slow grind wherever you go, though. There's no excellent zone, but I did it in Un'goro on thrillhouse.

EPL is actually the sort-of-best, you just have to know where to be going by using a mod or the like. If you can avoid the elites or you're level 70 then just go straight to the demon area in the south of Winterspring.

This zombie plague has some fun applications. After reading elsewhere that IQD was a good place to start an army, I got infected in Shatt and rode out to the Greengill Coast to have some fun. The murloc slaves there are weak, but turn into reasonable zombies. Before long I had about half the coast zombief-ied, with any respawns nearly instantly joining the ranks of my army. Mwahahaha.

Yeah, try again. Seriously, if you want to find the best resource node areas just search for them on WoWhead. Not only are there maps of every possible spawn point, but there are plenty of detailed comments.

Curse you. In all the time I've been doing Kara, I've seen KD drop exactly once, and I was on my rogue at the time.

I was rather frightened to discover that my warrior (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Nagrand&n=Miya), which I consider to be quite undergeared, is better-geared than 90% of Kara PUG tanks on the server. The group I was in was surprised I had epics, let alone that I was geared enough to do Karazhan.

I MTed the place for the first time ever, although the group was undergeared and inexperienced (the run took 5 hours to get to Chess, and that was with skipping Nightbane and Aran), so I wouldn't consider it a brilliant run.

It was a nice confidence booster, though.

I kinda wish I'd gone with your run though, Queenie. That way I could have at least ninja'd King's Defender off you. :P

A while ago back, PCPowerplay put every single patch onto the dvd, except the big 1.2gb patch which was the latest.

WoTLK will probably include the 3.0 patch on the disc, so if you wait until WoTLK (November) you can just install that and start right away.

Idea! make loads of 70 characters, and box all 8 of them through (cos only 8 per realm) until you get something to drop for your main.

I mean, with people being able to 3-man kara (in sunwell gear no less (prot war, ret pally and holy pally)).

Of course, this works only for the obscenely rich guys who have enough money to be able to 5-box, who were probably lucky enough to have the mount drop on their first try.


The helm dropped once, but there was another dps warrior there who outrolled me. Also his headgear was green and I had a felsteel on so it wasn't too bad.

I'm kinda pissed that everyone with active accounts gets 3 free days to play, around a week after mine ran out of playtime.

I ended up needing to start with a new account since my old one was locked by Blizzard as some kind of safety precaution after it was hacked. Then the account got chargebacked by the hacker that had bought 3 months on the account. So to get it back, I needed to fax some form and copies of my passport and other forms of ID, then pay $41 US for 3 months I never used and then pay for another month.

I really couldn't be bothered with that so I kind of made a new account. I'm now Vsanguar on Frostmourne which really doesn't flow as well as Vsanguer did :P

Bought the [Argent Tome] , Dont buy one, its a waste of necro stones. The trinket would be better if it worked like arcane explosion, and being able to actually follow you, but it doesnt, the book just sits where you summon it, open itself up, and blast's anyone in it's radius. So really its only good for pvp when people are after your flag in AB, or EOTS to stop alliance grabbing the flag, then again by the time you summon your book to hit the enemy, you could fire off a spell quicker than your book hits him. Useless trinket.

Exp given by stuff in northrend is doubled and the cap is increased, so its not a huge benefit. I'd say 25 Lv.70 quests is roughly equal to 10-12 Lv.71 quests.

preparing for WLK, i'm levelling a new alt with mining and skinning to give me the mats i'll need to level leatherworking and blacksmithing when i get to entry-level tanking.

And, being a feral druid, I'll be able to make leatherworking stuff for him.

Have they added new LW recipes or still the same stuff? The only thing I had of use from LW was the armor kits and some of the purple BoP items whilst I was getting balance gear together.

Yeah the vast majority of good crafted items are BoP. But they have added some quite nice patches now.

Speaking of professions, I am levelling mining on my shaman at the moment, to prepare for goldmaking in the expansion, and its nowhere as near as bad as i had expected :~) almost at 275 now. I want to mine those damn Rich Thorium Veins.

it's only really relevant to warriors, but the same basic principles apply to the other classes bar casters (inc pallys, as I wouldn't have any idea how to tackle the whole spell power variable)

Let's look at the "REAL" candidates:

Enchanting
Inscription
Leatherworking
Blacksmithing
Jewelcrafting


Notes: For the purposes of this post, I'm discounting, say, mining's bonus to stamina as you can obtain better stam bonuses via a combination of any of the above (excepting IS).

Furthermore, the other professions that I'm not looking at are:
Engineering
Herbalism
Tailoring
Alchemy - and while you guys get the passive You receive an increased effect and duration when you drink any elixir or flask you are able to make thingo, this will certainly be outweighed by better things, as blizzard certainly isn't going to make a passive buff completely OP.
Gathering professions

This post is focused PURELY on passive stats that can be gained.


Let us imagine that we are in the BEST possible gear that we can get in the game, for a warrior tank. We discount all craftable items (except gems for obvious reasons (there are no dropped equivalents to the +41 stamina BOP crafted gem in WLK/BC at present))

Upon investigation of the dragon's eye gems, unless MMO-champion and WOWhead are wrong, they can be crafted and worn at 375 Jewelcrafting, meaning there are possibly greater gems on the horizon, but that means that the gap between dropped and crafted gems is even greater than previously assumed.

For the maximum bonuses to your class, what are we looking at?

Enchanting

In enchanting- BOP enchants,
from the wiki, and this site, we can see the BOP enchants:

Permanently enchant a ring to increase attack power by 32. Only the Enchanter's rings can be enchanted, and enchanting a ring will cause it to become soulbound.

Permanently enchant a ring to increase Stamina by 24. Only the Enchanter's rings can be enchanted, and enchanting a ring will cause it to become soulbound.

In any case, I can imagine that most tanks will go for the stamina unless you're planning to use the AP for some "abilities that scale with AP, for my threat set" build.

Second case:
Inscription

I don't believe there are any "BOP" glyphs, the purpose of this is asking whether that extra Minor Glyph slot to use with what you will.

UPDATE: exclusive shoulder enchants:

specific to warriors:
Permanently adds 52 dodge rating and 15 defense rating to shoulder armor.

Permanently adds 104 attack power and 15 critical strike rating to shoulder armor.
perhaps for an OT set, or threat set.

52 dodge rating is quite an amount, but at level 80, 15 defense rating is nothing, not very much out of the 540 we'll supposedly need. This will scale well at 70, but I imagine not so well at 80. There doesn't seem to be an indication that you lose the benefit of this enchant after you do it, so perhaps you could do this and then drop inscription, powerlevel LW and get those buffs.


Leatherworking

There is reason enough to take this purely for the fur linings.

What these are are basically BOP enchants for your bracers. One of which is for 90 stamina. obviously only available to leatherworkers (hello feral druids!)

Let's not forget, instead of at level 70 you guys could make nethercleft leg armor and sell it on the AH for money.

At 80, your equivalent item is 55 stamina and 22 agility, but CANNOT be used by anyone but yourself, so to get the level 80 version of nethercleft leg armor you'll have to leatherwork.

The AP one is for 75 attack power and 22 critical strike rating.

now, the fur linings :

All of these can only be done to the leatherworker's bracers and DOING so causes the item to become soulbound.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase your Arcane resistance by 60.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase your Fire resistance by 60.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase your Frost resistance by 60.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase your Nature resistance by 60.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase your Shadow resistance by 60.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase Stamina by 90.

Permanently enchant bracers to increase attack power by 114.



now that's a shitload of utility. I imagine that at fights that need resistance many guilds will need their tanks to become leatherworkers just for these boons, not unlike in sunwell how many guilds got leatherworkers done in for the drums.

For the above enchants I'm taking Leatherworking (as soon as I've finished making a crapload of enchants for myself (i'm not throwing away my executioner, mongoose, crusader and lifestealing, unholy, fiery for nothing, and I'll at least create some backups so I can continue to do them until an alt is enchanting with those hard-to-get formulas)



Blacksmithing:

With this, a BIG crafting profession, you might call my a hypocrite. I'm focusing on one, and ONLY one aspect of the blacksmith in this case- the additional Gem socket and rumored META gem socket for chest that they get.

Now let's examine what a 450 blacksmith COULD do to his armor:

Permanently add a socket to your gloves. Requires a level 60 or higher item.
Cannot add more than one socket to an item. Can only add a socket to your own armor, and adding a socket binds the item to you. The added socket requires that you maintain 400 blacksmithing or it will become inactive.

obviously someone's going to try to put the gem in the socket and then drop BS, but they'll keep the socket there, it will just not provide the bonus anymore.

Cannot add more than one socket to an item. Can only add a socket to your own armor, and adding a socket binds the item to you. The added socket requires that you maintain 400 blacksmithing or it will become inactive.


now if the meta socket that is rumored does become available that will be a MAJOR reason to take blacksmithing for tanks.

at the moment, these are the best meta gems for tanking as a warrior:

+32 stam and +2% armor value from items (so it won't scale with agility)
+21 def rating and +5% SBV (even though in BC now there is a gem with only 12 def rating, but +10% SBV!)
+32 stam and -2% spell damage
countless other gems that could be used for tanking, usually with +32 stamina and a CC effect percentage reduction.

now, having an additional meta socket on the chest would allow you to take both the +2% armor gem and the +5% SBV one (or if you were crazy and took both of the +% SBV ones (unless blizzard have nerfed the BC one now?))

let's not forget you get an additional 2 slots, one to your gloves, and one to your belt. These sockets are likely to be indiscriminate of color because they wouldn't go towards bonuses, therefore there is no need for the sockets to have a color.

The key thing here, is to compare this with what Jewelcrafting can do.


Jewelcrafting get an exclusive series of BOP gems- the ones usable for tanking are listed.

Dragon's eyes-

Thick- +27 defense rating
Subtle- +27 dodge rating
Solid- +41 stamina
Rigid- +27 hit rating
Precise- +27 expertise rating
Flashing- +27 parry rating
Bold- +27 Strength
Delicate- +27 agility

only 3 can be equipped at any one time. Now, these are craftable RIGHT now (i think, as they have a skill needed of 375) so it's likely that ones for 450 will be created and be comparable to WLK gems.

to compare the bonuses given by the WLK gems accordingly, we will examine the greatest epic gem equippable for, say, strength, and use it as a percentage of the dragon's gems to work out what we should see at 450 skill.

greatest equippable non-JC gem for strength-

Bold Crimson Spinel- +10 strength

compared to

Bold Dragon's Eye- +27 Strength.

the percentage is approximately .370370370370370370 recurring.

In WLK, the greatest epic gem for strength is +20 strength.

If we divide 20 by the percentage as a pure number, say 37.0370370370370370370, we get 1 percent of the total value that the dragon's eye at 450 skill should get.

multiply by 100, we get 54 strength, essentially a doubling of the former's value.

now, if we have 3 sockets, with 3 54 strength gems in them, we get 162 strength value.
In contrast, a blacksmith will have in essence an extra 2 sockets above those the JC gets, but without the greater gems.

let us assume he also wishes to socket for strength.

5x20= 100.

100 strength, compared with 162- the jewelcrafter wins out here, so for those thinking that you will get more utility from the blacksmith's extra 2 sockets, becoming a jewelcrafter will recoup the losses from those two sockets and THEN some.

The deciding factor in this becomes WHETHER or not blacksmiths will get a meta gem socket for the chest or not.

Until such time, I'm undecided on which will be better in the end, as it's all highly situational to what fights you place yourself in.


For an endgame raider with the best equipment available, it would be ideal to be a LW and JC to obtain the best bonuses from his equipment, from the current data that we have.

For an entry level tank, it will likely be the craftable epics from blacksmithing that will allow a smoother transition to the upper echelons of LK's PVE game.

For now, my choice going into LK will be LW/BS, of course with alts providing the mats for both, until I replace BS gear, at which point I'll get Jewelcrafting up there.

It's on page 2 of the warrior forums if you wanted to read the whole but it's basically this minus a couple of things on warrior glyphs.

There are more fur linings available, i believe a spell power one, but that's it.

I have my inscription maxed out now, just been making my minor glyphs every day. I've been pretty happy with the proff to be honest, i just hope the expansion brings good epic bop offhands.
