Anyway, I joined a highly competitive 3v3 last night - rating 1950, rank 354. Healing high end 3v3 is very, very tough, we were trading wins/losses but we all started to choke thereafter and dropped to the low 1800s. I think with me we're about an 1850 team but hopefully with practice I'll help get the team to where it was before they lost the druid I am replacing. Still a lot of fun and very... very hard. 2v2 was a slow, calculative, and rather strategic whereas 3v3 is all these elements at twice the pace with an extra two players to keep an eye on.

I'm 63 now with Arutami, my Troll Hunter. I can't wait to get to level 70 but at the same time I feel a bit depressed that I rolled a hunter and not something more interesting.

Hunter is the easiest class to level but they are the most complex classes to DPS with by a long shot. For example:
- Do you know what the internal 0.5s auto-shot cooldown is?
- Do you use Quartz with a latency bar to weave steady shots?
- Do you understand the varying efficiencies of multi-shots and kill command in a shot rotation for different specs?

If you answered no... you're not even scraping the surface ;)

Not only can you not transfer to FM, but for the ~$20 AUD or so it'll cost you to do it, you might as well just ebay 500g or so. I've often rationalised that I could spend 10 hours working in game for <x> gold, or 3 hours working IRL for the same amount. Just can't bring myself to do something that could potentially get me banned...

I know how important the timed shots and dps macros can be, but I haven't come close to touching that yet. My main gripe is that 1/3 of the WoW community is hunters <_< (Not really, but you get the picture).

My first character was my human warrior on Aman Thul who still languishes on lvl 13.

I can't bring myself to go play an alliance character or a PVE server for that matter.

Our Kara runs didn't happen on the weekend, we only had 7 people show on Friday night and attempted to clear some spider trash mobs. Did a little bit but after several wipes with only one healer we called it.

Hopefully this week will be a different story with our regular raid leader and main healer back in action.

Had some random Rogue psting me for an invite Friday night. Was thinking who the hell is this, turned out to be a bored Tau. :lol:

Yeah they're quite common... it's a shame because:
a) most people don't know how to PvE with them well
b) they're generally not that viable in PvP

On the plus side, exceptional hunters really do stick out. Of the four hunters I raid with, only two are really good - one is 'eh' and the other is god awful. Classes like mages have 5-10% seperating them on the damage meters purely due to gear but a good hunter and a bad hunter acnb e 40% apart.

I'd never transfer anywhere just because of a guild, unless they were a large number of close RL friends. People quit, guilds have drama, disband, reform, etc. Looking at Frostmourne's 10 most progressed guilds, only 2 have been around long term (Shidavere + Carebears), and even those get huge upheavals over time. Heck, I joined two weeks ago, and since then we've lost two warriors, two core shaman, I replaced two core druids (that's right, me > 2 people), all of our mages have quit or gone casual, we've recruited 7 people from another guild, etc. And we're considered a stable guild :|

Gratz, Shard is probably the best healing weap a pally can get until SSC (Vashj) or Hyjal (some guy with a pally mace). Plus its sexy to boot. Im glad Im keeping mine for Stam even after I get my Exodar Life-staff ready to use.

AFK in AB is pretty bold. I usually go afk in AV, but I run off and stealth somewhere obscure so I'm just a blip on the map.

The best part (for me, at least), is when some "ding 70" or mid-60s person comes and ganks my alt (Lv.30). It's so much fun hopping on Maynard and just camping the shit out of them for a long time. I had an afternoon off and someone ganked my alt twice - I camped them for 45 minutes until they logged. Good times were had by all.

Get 490 defense and then just stack stamina basically.

These guys thought it would be good to leave their pets on aggressive the whole time as well as having growl on.
If I'm tanking and a hunter is doing this, and he hasn't turned growl off after I've asked him to, I just let the pet tank. It's obvious that's what the hunter wants it to do, so I'll whack on a second weapon, switch to zerker and DPS.

Generally, hunters get the message after the third or fourth time their pet dies and/or causes a wipe.

It's just a pity hunters don't have a reagent cost for summoning pets like Warlocks do.

Here's a fancypants macro I got off a guildy. It enables you to macro all your mounts to one button (which i've hotkeyed and put on a hidden action bar, so you don't waste too much space with multiple mounts).

If it's not scrubs not knowing how to tank or heal, it's elitist raiders not even bothering to reply when you ask them to help for like 5 friggin minutes.

Yeah, i know what you're all gonna say "ur a rogue lol" etc etc. I'm always helpful when people need it so why can't i find some people who actually want to instance or quest with me? Raiders forget how hard it was for them so a nice "no" or "yes" would be nice thanks! People who actually know what to do and don't leave a group at the last minute for stupid reasons. Blah blah blah, i don't know what else i can do in this game if i can't get groups to get ****ing gear. ~_~

I know what you mean there... i've had instances where i basically was the tank/offtank because the tank was so incompetent, i remember tanking the satyr boss in Botanica from 50% to zero while i was still daggers.
We should just clone beefbox a few hundred times, problem solved =P.
Only problem i ever had with healing however (in all of BC), is a ret pally trying to heal BM =/

Which is why our guild has one strict rule and only one.

And referring to your tanking setup yeah for Kara basically 490 + def and as much stam as you can get as someone said before.

Also shield block, dodge and parry should all be above 15%.

I only have blue tanking gear and have so far managed to get my Health and defense up by spending shitloads of gold on gems and enchants but wait till you at least have some half decent gear before you start doing this.

Make sure you get a blacksmith to make you the felsteel set (Gloves, Helm and Legs) although if you get revered with keepers of time you can get some better tanking legs. I have the pattern for the legs and helm but my BS isn't high enough to make them yet.

And, also, this is something we haven't really talked about, so this is somewhat of an exclusive for you guys; Sunwell Plateau, which is an upcoming patch just before Wrath of the Lich King, we've announced that it's gonna have a 25 person raid instance. We will also be doing a 5 person instance which will have both Normal and Heroic mode.

Most of us will never see it (It's post-Black Temple), but interesting nonetheless, and it'll be good to see how the 5-man looks.

Also, in an interview with eGames.de, Tigole confirmed that Naxxramas will be the first 25 man raid of Northrend. He also confirmed a few things :
- Some encounters will be totally retuned to fit 25 man raids (4 Horsemen for example).

It's ironic to think, really, that the truly "timeless" items that define your character tend to be absolutely useless and easily acquired. No hunter above Lv.66 will be using the kel'thuzad crossbow (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22812) but 70% of players could rationalise carrying a gnomeregan item (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=9452) in their bags. A good portion of alliance (taulol) have this (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=5462) in their bags 24/7, yet their full Tier 6 could be worthless in a few months, and will definetly be worthless in a year. A casual will use their panda cub until the day they quit, but a truly hardcore player will replace their armour very frequently.

There is no amount of work a single player could feasibly do to justify having an item that powerful. Ateish took a full Naxx/AQ40 clear, and what you got what appropriate for that - a staff that would last about a year, until Karazhan was not worth visiting for your guild.

Edit: If it's any consilation, there is another class of item that exists - artefact (red). Currently unused.

"Corrupted Ashbringer" - epic drop off of death knight Highlord Mograine in Naxxramas.

When you equip it you immediately get exalted with Scarlet crusade and hated with argent dawn.

The reason for the Scarlet crusade change is because it was said in their lore somewhere that the "chosen one" who recovers Ashbringer will be the one to save them all, or something like that.

Equipping it in the SM causes all npc chars to bow down before you, and you get a funny scripted event which tells of how it all happened.

On a more WoW-related topic, did a Slabs run yesterday at lv67. I was worried that they (all 70s) wouldn't take me because of my level, but nobody said anything so the thought passed. Then about half way through, the Warrior goes "HOLY SHIT MOO I JUST NOTICED YOU'RE 67". :( He starts going on about how I'm too low, so I said I'd pay for their repairs if my healing failed, and the others politely told him to STFU because I was "doing awesome". WoW needs a player-voted, non-abusable "ability of this person to play their class" rating next to names, then you could easily find the diamond-in-the-rough players instead of assuming everyone but you sucks.

Also, ding lv68! Flight form is sweet. I enjoy flying up really high, shifting out then seeing how close I can get to the ground before shifting back. :D

I was going to say that you are a criminal for taking a level 67 DPS into Slabs, and then discovered you're a healer, which is fine. I've been running slabs since accidentally getting my dungeon set chestpiece on my rogue so I can get the legs, and there have been some shocking groups. Like 70s who can't put out enough DPS to take down Nethercurse (that said I always do at least 35% of the total group damage), and temperamental tanks who take everything said in party chat - including compliments - as a personal slight against themselves and their entire family.

I had the best slabs run last night. I was a bit skeptical going in at first, had a mage,hunter (from my guild),69 holy pally and spriest and myself tanking.

We wiped twice on the voidwalker boss (mostly thanks to my poor kiting skills) but once I got the plan down we did it. 1st and 2nd bosses went down easy and the CC form the hunter,mage and spriest was perfect.

Then in true WoW fashion I get another grp with a 70 lock and holy priest and we can't manage to beat a pull of 5-6 elites cause ppl need to learn how to CC with their class...how hard is it for a hunter to freeze trap 1 mob...NOT VERY (specially a melee mob)

Now if only the 1st boss would drop my shield :(

I caused some guild drama last night (yay!) when they took me to High King but not Gruul or Mag. Instead of saying "thanks for that bob, off you go to continue you're life" I stuck around Hellfire for 2 hours while they wiped against Gruul. About halfway through I got a whisper from TS saying they needed a pally for Hydross and if the hat dropped, I would get it. I asked the raid leader and GM since I'm not doing anything apart from waste time, can I go help out these nubs and maybe a chance for some gear? Straight up no, do not leave raid or there will be concequeneces. Kinda pissed that they didn't take me considering I'm nearly the best geared pally and topped the healing meter in the High King fight, I think it was mainly because of the general mistrust our MT and raid leader have of pallys.

I dunno, things are going to change and the end result was me with some more Thrallmar rep and no repair bills but still, I wasn't there for the main event you know?

Your MT and raid leader are shithouse. Paladins and Shaman are, these days, the backbone healers of any raid. I know my guild brings 3-4 pallies, 2-3 shaman, 1-2 druids, and 0-1 priests per raid. Probably the most typical composition for Joe Guild is 3/3/1/1.

Yeah slabs is one of those instances that goes well and then the next time it's a total pooch screw. Thank god I'm amost exalted.

I usually like to take a tank (me) mage, rogue (or lock), elemental shammy (or 2nd mage) and resto shammy.

The 2nd boss is difficult with High DPS groups if people don't burn theur CD's and the healer cops a fireball or 2 from the mage/s.

I wouldn't hold your breath for the shield I have seen it drop 3 times in all my runs, had the warrior trinket on 2nd boss drop once, mace from 3rd boss hasn't dropped and shoulders from Murmur have dropped once.

You might get lucky though.

Yeah, but I doubt any of that stuff is expansion-worthy. Emerald Dream and the Maelstrom could be expansions in their own right, but Gilneas and other random unused zones probably couldn't be.

If you think about it, two more expansions 1.5 years apart after WoTLK with each having 1.5 years of gameplay means the game has another ~4 years left - which is fairly long support. Plus Lv.100 seems like a sensible time to stop :P

Hm didn't notice that bit up the top of the Plaguelands (well Quel'Thalas now). That would be where the Sunwell is going to be, there's pretty specific details to its location in quest text and the book about it, meant to be on an island north of Silvermoon.

There's also 2 new islands west of Stranglethorn, don't know what's supposed to be there. Kul Tiras is probably the north one, I remember hearing that was meant to be west of Westfall.

Also: try to gear an enhancement Shaman 60-70 in mail.

When I was levelling Tamiya, I developed a bit of a reputation among players that were levelling up with me for "insane DPS and general crazy shit". Aside from when another rogue significantly outgeared/outlevelled me, I was never below #1 on damage.

If DPS is all you bring to the table, make sure you bring enough for everybody, is my philosophy on rogues.

At the moment, I'm really enjoying the style of DPS that a dual-wield fury warrior can dish out. Survivability is fails, but other than that, it's pretty fun, especially when you thump out 2K executes at 55.

I want a mod that allows me to type in or click the name of the Alliance that just ganked me, while I'm killing mobs. I want them to appear in a list (like a friends or ignore list) and if possible allow me able to type a description about why I'm going to camp them when I ding 70.

Stormy, that Ganklist mod looks nice but I use Opium (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/244/) personally. Rather than just build a list of killers, everytime you "see" someone (targetting or mousing over them) it adds them to the database, along with guild and the time at which you last saw them. It can do this for enemies, friends or both, and also shows how many times you've killed someone, how many times they've killed you, win/loss ratios again X class, X race, X guild, whatever you want to look at. If you don't like someone (enemy or friend doesn't matter), you can add them to the KoS list along with a message. From now on whenever you see that person, a sound will play and "KoS: <your message>" will appear both on screen as a system message and in the tooltip when you mouseover. Well at least that's what I have, you can also make it appear in the chat frame, or use any combination of the above warnings you like. Imo the message is the best feature, I typically put something like "Killed Moo, Hinterlands, lv49 vs lv??". Let's you know exactly why they need to die instead of making you try to remember. :P

I got promoted last night - only joined Shidavere 3 months ago but I'm now an officer already basically due to the other druid officer being a bit sporadic in his times. The guild has been struggling a bit the past few weeks so if any 70s (even undergeared) are particularly interested in joining a GMT+10 raiding guild, drop me a line. Unless you're based in Perth or Singapore though you're probably not interested :P

When I was levelling Tamiya, I developed a bit of a reputation among players that were levelling up with me for "insane DPS and general crazy shit". Aside from when another rogue significantly outgeared/outlevelled me, I was never below #1 on damage.

If DPS is all you bring to the table, make sure you bring enough for everybody, is my philosophy on rogues.

At the moment, I'm really enjoying the style of DPS that a dual-wield fury warrior can dish out. Survivability is fails, but other than that, it's pretty fun, especially when you thump out 2K executes at 55.

I did that on a crit on my 44 (now 46) warrior the other day... I had full rages though... but still.

Just buy the green wand my character's wearing if you intend to spec shadow, to get to the spell hit cap is rediculously easy (only need 76 if you have 5/5 Shadow Focus). If I can be ****ed I'll get around to getting a Quagmirrian's Eye and 41 badge trinket to replace the scryers one and the other crap one and just make up for the missing spell hit with a pair of spellstrike pants.

If you took 2 seconds to look at that WoW sig thats been there for weeks now, you could see that Im cookie cutter Holy PvE, 28/33 (or you couldve armory'd, but I guess jumping to conclusions is better). Well general progression. Carebears had killed vashj (ssc cleared) and were up to Kael'Thas in TK. You can go to www.wowjutsu.com for a pretty good ranking site as rather than basing it off entries by individual people, the system scans armory, matching a guild's gear against a previous scan (They're pretty frequent I think), determining if you had recieved the loot while in the specific guild or not, thus determining where the guild is in progression.

Guilds also track progression on the realm specific forums on the WoW boards. The more bosses you've killed, the higher rank you are.

Well I can now see how far behind my guild is in the grand scheme of things. Then again I wouldn't exactly call us hardcore raiders. But in recent days I've noticed a lot more of a push to start clearing Kara in GC.

I think pallies are one class we don't need. Wait and see anyway, we have 4 regulars and of those, 1 has major connection issues and another has major IRL issues so a spot might free up.

Well invites go out at 10pm AEST, raid starts at 10:15pm AEST (ideally). Unless you can be home in a rush this is not ideal. We raid until 2-3pm AEST but now that I'm officer I'm pushing to get it held at 2, as 1am raids make 9am work very unfun. Give it some thought anyway, I doubt the spots are going to dissappear super-quick so no rush.

Bored @ Uni again :D. I was not going to come in today (worked all day friday and saturday, went out saturday night, swum sunday morning), but my 4+8 year old cousins were coming over and I wanted to get the hell out of there before I got stuck entertaining them.

WoW is quite fun at the moment, 2v2 is doing swimmingly and I'm an officer in my guild (Equal 3rd most progressed on server - thanks for dying, Carebears). I'm especially happy that I'm managing all this without playing too much :P

So we cleared up Gruuls tonight but called it on Mag for some reason. Since we had a full team (not the right mix for Mag) we decided to head to SSC for shits and giggles to see how fast could wipe on the first pull. We ended up killing the 5 and having a druid tanking staff (someone said it's the best in the game atm) drop off the first corpse. Ran through a bit more and cleared all the platforms only to be owned by Lurker.

Also: The Decapitator dropped off Prince last night and my warrior actually got it so yay!

Crossroads is just like this one Safeway store on Smith Street I go by on my to and from the city in Carlton. Out the front of this Safeway there is always, ALWAYS a dodgy person there whether they're a Collingwood supporter or some random bum with a huge beard drinking whiskey from a paper bag. Everytime I pass through Crossroads, there is always something so typical going on, even at 2:30am on a Sunday night. Check out the single message I recieved as I was flying through on my way to Orgrimar.

What I thought was going to be an intro run in Kara from my guild turned out to be a bit more interesting than I planned. I didn't hold much hope of doing anything with 3 tanks in our grp and no real CC to speak of.

But we ended up downing Moroes (although he dropped 2 priest items which went to the one guy who was filling in from another guild)

Leading up to the fight I felt a bit useless but when we fought Moroes I managed to get into the action a bit and was able to jump onto him during teh last third of the fight when one of our tanks went down.

Then we moved onto the Opera (big bad wolf). Managed to get him down to like 3% but couldn't seal the deal. Hopefully with a few more runs I can manage to get a regular tanking spot and gear up my toon.
