Yes, here it is again. The general Final Fantasy chat thread :P

Talk about any of the games, or movies, whatever you want in here. It's all FF baby! FF MUST LIVE ON!

Anyhoo, I'm level 85 in FFVII now, on my like... 12th run through or something. This time I'm aiming to get absolutely everything done. EVERYTHING. It's going to take me a seriously long time. So far I've clocked up 87 hours of play.

Discuss away!

I've got FFX, FFVIII and FFVII. I want to pick up a copy of IX one day as well (I love ebay  )

I've finished X and it was one of the best games I have played. The character development amazed me because i really felt for the characters in the story. I wanted Sin gone just like they did. Some of the best 60hrs of my life

I'm almost done with FFVII (once again, ebay :notworth: ). I bought it a while back and I played about 20-25 hours through and got really bored.

*Spoiler, highlight to view*

I just got sick of the whole, chase Sepiroth here, wait he's gone, lets chase him there. Someone said they saw a man in a black coat 2 towns over, lets go there. However I had saved right before the massive story part where Cloud gives Sepiroth the Black Materia and falls into the lifestream.

*End Spoiler*

The story overhaul has really got me into it again and I'm aiming to finish it over the holidays.

I've only played about 7 hours into FFVIII but I really like it. I know the junction system made alot of people cranky but I dont have a problem with it. I'm going to start again over the holidays after I have finished FFVII

I've also bought the FFVII and FFVIII soundtracks off Ebay and they are fantastic. FFVII's music is good but FFVIII's is a masterpiece. Easily the best work Uematsu has done. My personal favs off both are One-Winged Angel , Liberi Fatali and Force Your Way.

BTW, anyone who like FF music has got to hear some Black Mages music. Its a band Uematsu put together after he left Square and they play remixed FF battle themes with a bit of a rock theme to them. Inquisitor and anyone else who likes FFVII(and its boss battle theme) MUST hear Those who Fight Futher. Its brilliant.

Wow, long post. Anyway, Long live FF!! :worshipl:

so i managed to finish FFI (from FF Origins) sometime last month, which means that i've finished:

FFI, FFIV (the best one imo), FFV, FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2

now i've just gotta find time to beat FFII, wait patiently for Square-Enix to release FFIII on the DS, and wait very impatiently for FFXII, boy i'm excited about that one..

and yes, i love ebay too :D

I can't be brother going through what my favorites are in Final Fantasy, I'll just say I love them all except FFXI. :p

Anyway when will they release the FFVII:Advent Children in Australia, a worldwide release would be great, don't want to have to see it in a fan dubbed first round.
The FF:Spirit Within was not what we wanted and nither was the FFU anime... FF5 anime OVA was deemed good by Hyper, but is it ever going to come out here??

Last thing *fingerscrossed* for Before Crisis ported/remake for DS or PSP or BOTH.

most of the summons like Shiva, Ifrit etc... keep coming back. and "Ragnarok" reapears too. (in various forms) EG. In FF 6 it was a sword. in FFVIII was a airship etc...
And chocobo's come back each game as a mode of transport..
Airships reappear too.
Some spells like 'Ultima' comeback..

Uh... let me think again, with more time...

Blizzard, Fire, Holy, Thunder reappear... uh... Cid, and Biggs and Wedge reappear... uh... and... let me think...

Shiva, Quetzacoatl and Ifrit, and Ultima and Omega Weapons? Do they reappear? Was Ultimecia a re-occuring theme? Chocobo music seems to be the same, even from FFII to FFVIII. Was there chocobo's in X and XII? Hmmmm...

What i want to know is how they re-occur, in each form.

thanks.

Favourite FF Games: FFX and FFXI (Having only played these two properly, and really only had quick bashes at FFVIII, FFX-2 and FFTA)
Favourite Playable Characters: Anything Tarutaru :P Probably Yuna too.
Favourite Villans: Sin, I never liked fish things that float and stuff, and Sin only served to re-affirm this feeling.
Favourite Monster/Mascot: Gobbies from FFXI.... <3 Scamplix! And yes, after spending time in WoW, I miss my Moogle :(
Favourite Summon: Carbuncle, but I am did like Bahamut and Yojimbo in FFX (I renamed them too, but I can't type out what I renamed them to on this forum).

A lot of the spell names and naming schemes are re-used it seems.

In FFX Blizzard, obviously, is an ice based attack spell, and Blizzaga is a stronger version of it, but in FFXI, Blizzard is the same but Blizzaga is an area-of-effect spell, able to hit multiple enemies at once, where Blizzard only hits one target. I can't remember if FFX's -aga spells would hit multiple enemies though.

AWW

Biggs & Wedge were only in FFVI, VII & VIII
Biggs & Wedge were also in Final Fantasy X (they were able to join your Blizball team )

In Final Fantasy X the spells were able to do either attack a single enemy or all at a push of a button. As for the names of spells and summons they were different more due to the people who translated from English (untilll Final Final Fantasy VIII they never spent that much effect into it)

There is also the Ultima weapon (not the boss) that was usually the strongest weapon for the main charcater.

There is also the piano music thats at the end of all Final Fantasy games.

It's not out yet dude (yes they are taking their time, but as long as its awesome its worth the wait)

and the guy in the wheelchair is more likely to be Rufus Shinra (i think it has already been confirmed) since one of the other characters refers to him as "President"

go here for the official website and the latest trailer:

That would kinda suck for me, as this would lessen the impact of the final scene of Refus in FFVII game (it was a big impact for me  ).

Also whats with so many people missing out on FFIX when it first came out??
There was heaps of copys when I went to buy mine 4 years ago (2001 it came out in Pal right??) or :shady: most of you brought the "unoffical" version 6 months before it came out...

AWW: I was never into Final Fantasy IX when it first came out. In fact I wasn't even into gaming that much when it came out. I had only JUST bought a Nintendo 64, my first console.

Since then I have become more and more interested in games and last year I got a Playstation 2 for my birthday and FF X. Since finishing it I've bought VII, VIII and IX and intended to play through them all (eventually). I also imagine it got a limited PAL release, as I have seen hardly any copies floating around pre-owned sections and Cashies.

Bob: My EB has since put another copy of FF IX on the shelf since I have purchased mine. If you are worried about a memory card, I bought a 4gamers one for $7 from EB and it has been great. I also think the official ones were only $20. I orginally had to buy it to play FF VII.

Sorry to double post, but I have just seen the FFVII: AC trailer and had to comment:

WOW!

It looks awesome! Thats the best use of CG that I've seen in a long time. Even though FFVII isn't my favourite FF game (that honour belongs to X), this really looks like its something to get excited about. Can anyone read that Japanese that is on the link that Future_Boy posted? I'd love to know the storyline.

That said the movie could be a complete CG fest and nothing else. Here's hoping Square-Enix don't screw it up.

Funnily enough I enjoyed FFX-2 a lot more than I did FFX. While they both featured abysmal dialogue, FFX-2's battle and dressphere system (while girly) was miles ahead of FFX and made the battles a lot more enjoyable.

I thought I'd tell you guys why I like FFX the most, see as some of you have commented, but lets not let this to turn into a "FFVIII is the best because.....you suck" kinda thing. I'm sure we can keep it civil.

I liked FFX the most (so far) because I felt that I cared about the characters alot more than in FFVII and FFVIII. I actually wanted the group to beat Sin, and its something that few other games have made me feel. I also loved the sphere grid and liked the Conditional turn based system. I liked being about to think out my moves rather than fast and sometimes bad decisions that can be made by the ATB.

I still loved FFVII and love FFVIII, and both remain in my top games list, I just liked FFX more.

The discs are absolutely mint as well. The instruction booklets look like they were'nt even opened once. I'll post some pics later on.

I have FF8 platinum, but I'm looking at getting the un platinum version (just for the disc art..) when I find a copy, is that worthwhile?

Dame you, I always found FF figurines hard to get and not to mention the crazy prices they charge you. So what were some of the FF creratures??

Well 3 months ago I was able to pick up figurines of Yuna, Rinoa, Sephrioth, Cloud and LuLu all $15 each (around 110mm tall), don't know if I should feel happy or sad over this...

Last year I also saw a set of FFX characters, you know the ones that were 400mm tall, but they costed $80 each , so I turned it down. Of course they sold out a week later.

ah, the mandatory ff thread... how i've missed it :D hopefully there'll be more life in this one than evo's abysmal effort.

i kicked off a game of ff8 a little while back after many years of having the opinion that the game sucked balls. i first played it about 6 months after release and remember being really disappointed with the game in general. at the time i was looking forward to ff7 with better graphics and 8 certainly wasn't that. in the end, i never got around to finishing it and one day my save game got deleted by some dirty mofo and i just gave up on it. i guess i was just too much of an rpg (sorry mr president :D ) noob back then because this time around i'm really enjoying it. all the things that grated me, ie, earning wages, juntioning magic, relying on gf etc, i can now see are really interesting diversions from the norm and actully work well when they are accustomed to. granted, i've stopped playing it again on the 3rd disc but it's more from playing some new stuff in favour of old than losing interest. i'll finish it one day.

all in all, i still think 7 is a much better game, and so is 9 for that matter. but i've definately abandoned the "ff8 sucks" camp. how about you guys?

I've only played about 7 hours of FFVIII, but I REALLY enjoyed it. I bought it for $30 at EB while I was waiting for my copy of FFVII to come off EBay. I'm almost done with FFVII and its fantastic, but I think I can see myself liking FFVIII more.

I like the whole romance story, hence why FFX has such a draw for me.

Not to mention it has THE BEST soundtrack from any FF game. Some of Uematsu's best work (except mabye some of his Black Mages stuff, I'll never get tired of listening to Those who Fight Further (http://www.square-enix-usa.com/uematsu/black_mages/) ) I managed to pick myself up a copy of the soundtrack on EBay for $50, in a really nice fold out case. Out of the 80 - 100 odd songs there are mabye 4 or 5 that I don't like. Great stuff.

SirAuran! OMG! I loved the romance side of FFVIII. I was one of the people that cried when... Um... Oh yeah you still need to play it lol.

Lets just say, that I was more of a mess than Michael Jacksons bed after a sleep over by the end of the game.

As for my Favourite FF: FFXI and FFVIII
Favourite Char: Squall, Quistis, Vivi, Lion (FFXI), Eiko

I still haven't finished FFVIII -- I'm 63hrs in and sitting happily at Ultimecia's castle on Disc 4 crapping my pants because I've unsealed about 3/4 of my...stuff...but I don't thing I did it in the correct order...oh well, I'll survive. I gotta finish it when I have time, also. I'm snowed under by the hell that is grade 12, more specifically Modern History. DAMN YOU CRAP SUBJECT. Ahem.

But yeah, the love story in FFVIII is even so sweet and wonderful -- the characters evolve so much over the course of the story. The dramatic change in the location in Disc 3 and the love that folds out 'up there' and also while in 'silence and motion' is just BRILLIANT. It's one hell of a game, and easily the greatest PSOne game ever made, that I have played.

There were so many critics who flamed FF VIII, but it was such a fantastic game, and set out what it wanted to achieve. Never before in a game have I seen it focus so much on the romance side of things. Thats a tough call, especially for such a male dominated audience that craves action. I thought FF VIII was an amazing emotional rolercoaster of a game, although I felt the first 2 CD's were the strongest, by the end I felt it had kind of lost the plot, which is really unfortunate.

That opening sequence however was pure magic back in the day.

Ehh, Final Fantasy VIII, I went and brought that game the day it came out.

I remember I spent a whole month :needslee: playing almost nonstop to get every card in the game, I did in the end (the only reward was a star next to card in the menu  ). The first time round to get all cards I forgot to draw Alexandria only finding out 2 hrs later, had to redo the whole game...:banghead: and that stupid random rule made it real hard to lose the card to the Card Queen, espically when it spreads to region to region.

Just wondering did anyone get their hands on the real cards from the FFVIII card game??

Well only thing I had left to do was defeat Omega Weapon.

Fact: I bought FF8 in the middle of my HSC exam period (when it came out) and beat it in 63 hours in 1 week :P

But FF6, FF4 and FF7 are the best by a long margin. The others have their charms and I like em, but they don't come close at all.

I still don't like FF8. While Zell pumping his fist all the time was great, the rest of the game seemed too clean and lacked emotion for me to bother finishing it. It was more of a must see the next FMV sequence type of game. Nothing more.

Of course this is my opinion, but I'll allow you all to flame me anyway (cause I find it funny).

Those at Ultimecia prepare for a very, very long final battle...
but also a long ending :)

I liked in FF 8 how the enemies (main rivals) could summon too...
And I enjoyed the realistic looking characters.

8 seemed too boring for me. I only played it for about an hour or two then gave up. A similar thing happened to me with 7. I played it through to a point, then my games go stolen. I started again, but got bored very quickly with it and haven't played it again since.

Best FFs in my opinion are FF9 and FFX

What do most of you think of Final Fantasy VIII world map??

I really like flying around the map and seeing all the trains going about its way.
Esthar City is also still the biggest world map city in any Final Fantasy games so far.

Was the world map just really big or that the game played real slow when you fly around the map in the space ship?? :veryconf:

Ragnarok was like one of my most faviorite "air" ship designs, come on dragons are cool (acually I'm also watching the Vision of Escaflowne anime at the moment), it was got really nice music when you fly around and its being flown by Selphie Tilmitt :D.

Another thing, is it really true that the Final Fantasy VII:Advent Children would come out only/first in UMD form (why the hell would you watch it on the PSP only). SO theres no theatre release like the first FF film...

markymark
30-04-2005, 09:30 PM
oh yeah, ragnarok is by far the best ff airship design. i especially love the bit where you ram it into the lunatic pandora and it whips out some arms robotech style :D even so, i'm pretty sure it's the slowest too. i was just playing ff8 a little while ago and was flying around a bit thinking 'can you hurry the hell up?'. i remember the highwind being a lot faster... i could be wrong though.

as for advent children, that's the first i've heard of any psp exclusivity. if it's true, that will suck balls.

Guess we could see it at Dendy (they showed Steam Boy and don't they also hold some anime thing film thing every year), if the film does not make it to Hoyts and with what happen with the first Final Fantasy film you can see the chances are real low.

I still find it very strange to not show it in the theatres, just show the tralier and I'm sure people would come and finally get to see another CG film thats not aimed at children first.

I've just started to play through X-2 and I'm loving it. I've been meaning to get it for a while and I picked it up the other day for $40 pre-owned at EB in good condition . At first the battle system seemed a bit frantic, but now that I'm picking it up it's really growing on me. I'm also loving going back and visiting all the places that I went to in X.

The only thing is I find that I don't really change Paine's dresssphere at all, she just seems so suited to warrior.

heh heh, i had the same problem not too long ago :D it's tucked into an obscure little bay on centra not too far from the lighthouse. from memory it was on the north side so just keep scouring the shoreline until you find it.

auron i was a ffx2 fan as well despite it's rather sizable flaws (which you'll start to realise soon) but it's a pretty fun take on final fantasy. i really liked the battles and how the party didn't just stand in formation and attack. the random positioning made it really interesting. plus the dresspheres were awesome and ability learning is always a major plus in my rpg book.

anyways, i've played through it twice and still fell short of the 100%. i think i got 98 or something... very annoying. i'll kick off another game again someday and get the super sweet ending :D

Im playing through FF8 at the moment, and i absolutely love the atmosphere, the locations, characters, and story, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE DAMN JUNSTION SYSTEM!!!! It wasn't really that bad an idea, but its a real pain because i never want to play through any battles long or short cause of it. Who had the stupid idea of making magic and weapon attacks so weak that your forced in to summoning for virtually every attack? I thought it really detracted from the rest of the game, it really had the potential to be the best out of all of them. I suppose it depends who you are, not everyone thought it was as much of an issue. FF7 was my favourite. (haven't played 6 yet though, heard it was good)

markymark

if you spend enough time drawing magic and junctioning it efficiently, you barely need to summon at all. i had squalls' strength up to such a ridiculous level that when i fought seifer for the first time i killed him with 2 hits.

FFVIII is my favorite game in the series by a long shot... Not only were the locales amazing, and the atmosphere brilliant, but I loved the junction system.

It's not that it doesn't work, it's just that you have to understand it to make full use of it. it takes a bit of getting used to, but if you can get the knack of it, it works a treat.

EDIT: oops it's already mentioned

well i'll just add something more then..here's an article from RPGamer.com regarding FF-related stuff

After a long lull of silence, Square Enix has blitzkrieged the video game community with new information concerning one of their most highly anticipated titles, Kingdom Hearts II. First came the release of dozens of new screenshots and pieces of art, which was followed quickly by a duo of official website openings: the Disney-flavored site, and Square Enix's version, which came packed with the Kingdom Hearts II trailer that was featured at Jump Fiesta 2005. Following the recent trend, Kingdom Hearts II director Tetsuya Nomura sat down with Japanese publication Dori Maga to discuss Kingdom Hearts II, as well as the upcoming Compilation of Final Fantasy VII titles.

Mainly, the interview focused on Kingdom Hearts II. In response to a question regarding the recent lack of information on the game, Nomura stated "Yes, a release is indeed approaching. The announcement of Kingdom Hearts II was actually too early." He went on to say "It's not that delayed development has caused a delay in the release. Recently, a debut period has come into sight, and so we've started to release information."

When asked about the state of the game's development, Nomura revealed that it is nearly finished. The game's scenario is complete, and the voice recording is nearly complete, with only some fine tuning left to be done. The game still has a few additions coming to it however, as Nomura revealed that they're "currently finishing up the main story -- the scenario featuring Sora and the black coated characters." Furthermore, when asked about the volume of Kingdom Hearts II, Nomura revealed that the story would be quite a bit lengthier than that of its predecessor by an estimated 2.5 times.

Regarding the animation of the game, Nomura explained that "when in Brave Form with red clothing and when in standard form with black clothing, the motion is completely different. This is, of course, true when fighting, but also when running. The motion for walking is about all that's shared. Of course, there are other forms besides black and red."

When the interview shifted to the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII titles, Nomura stated "We plan to increase the player characters by two. The story is heating up as the climax approaches, so please stick with us for a bit more." when asked about Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII.

Even though the game's projected release date recently shifted to some time in 2006, the development of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is still chugging along, with Nomura saying that he has worked on the art for the game. Moreover, Nomura dropped a few hints about the game's gameplay system: "We're planning an interesting, previously unseen gameplay system. We announced [Crisis Core] as an action RPG, but I think it will end up as something that exceeds everyone's expectations. I personally want to get my hands on it quickly."

While Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII's projected release has been pushed back, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII's development seems to be progressing faster than expected. "We should be able to release it earlier than most expect," assures Nomura. "It's a title that's been surrounded by a number of secrets until now, but at E3 you'll be able to get a taste of it and I think you'll be even more excited. For this game, I'm mainly doing character designs. The game is strongly influenced by Yoshinori Kitase."

Nomura had less to say about Square Enix's upcoming motion picture incarnation of Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children: "We've kept you waiting, but we should be able to announce a number of things soon. Please look forward to it."

RPGamer will be out in full force at E3 when it begins later in the month. Look forward to our coverage of these games and more straight from the show floor.

i can see madman eventually releasing it on DVD...but a cinematic release? doubt it...if u think about it, the film is mainly aimed at people who have played FFVII before (unless Advent Children is not a direct sequel), which is a small minority of the population...so if they release it in cinemas, it won't sell many tickets relative to other movies...which is prob why Square-Enix wanted to release it straight to UMD/DVD, but i read somewhere that in Japan they are indeed having it released in theatres as well(Japan is a different animal from the western countries tho, virtually everyone & their grandmother has played FFVII, lol)

and let's face it, which film distributer would wanna pick up another movie with the title "Final Fantasy" in it, after the flop that was The Spirits Within

i personally hope they just release it worldwide in DVD form

i think that a bundling Advent Children with Dirge of Cerberus would be a good idea (good for us gamers haha), would be the safe method for square enix anyways.
Makes a bit of sense, both continue the FFVII story ( i can't remember where each is on the FFVII timeline in relation to each other) and so only people who have finished FFVII would generally be interested in it.

topaz would be right in questioning what film distributor would consider releasing (whether in theatres or on DVD) Advent Children after Spirits Within did so poorly.
Therefore i think that Advent Children should be marketed as a game and so i restate me hopes in that it is bundled with Dirge of Cerberus.

I'm sure their is a audience other then FF fans that would want to see a AAA CG "M" rated film ( like I said before a CG thats not aimed for kids first). If worst comes to worst Dendy may just show it in thier anime film thing that happens once a year.

One note, when the first FF film project was annoncued I sure every FF fan was hoping for a film sequel to FFVII and now it finally happens and we can't watch it at the theatre... :madshake:

Personally I hoping for a DS/PSP re-release (with re-work graphic would be nice too!!).

FFVIII ULTIMA SPELLS:

1.Defeat Ultima Weapon at the Deep sea depot (inside the Deep Sea Research Center its at bottom left corner of the world map) at disc 3, using Bahumets ability Forbid mag-RF you can convert utima stones,, energy cystals and dark matter into utlima spells, the latter being 100 ultima spells!!
Note:You can also draw Ultima form him too!!BUT the battles quite hard.

2.Go to Island Closest to Hell (left of Deling City, island furthest away).
Equip Diablo ability of Enc-none and run around the corner of the island (on the way you'll find flare and comet too!!). They regenrate real fast too!!

3.Go to the Island closest to Heaven ( North-east of the chocobo forrest in near Esther or right of Trabia Garden... Its near the top right corner of the map. ) Do the same as in step 2.

No worries. :-D

Sorry but I can't remember how to get the dark matter, thought there were a few guides on how to get all the items in the game
Played the game heaps years ago (the quest to get all the card, did that twice, first time missed a card that only had one chance :angryfir: )
I have to say I was pretty cheap when I was playing throught the 2nd half of FFVIII...
I got real tired of having to summon the GF in nearly every battle, so I used the limit break way(go Zell and Squall's Lion Heart, the latter best use that to kill most major bosses), it makes the game real easy and is the best way to fight the monsters on the Island Closest to Hell when your low level.

Forgot to mention at the Deep Sea Research Center you would get the 2 most powerful GF in the whole game!!

There were few thing that made FFVIII very unique to the other FF games.
One being that the monsters don't carry gold/cash.
Second the game monsters and bosses levels follow the players characters levels (more of a round off )
Lastly it nice how the amount of exp. needed to get to the next level was always the same (1000 exp. right??).

i'll probably get flamed for this, but i've never really seen the big problem people have with the ffx/2 voice acting. i think it was really well cast and on a whole, i liked it. sure, tidus was annoying, but he was supposed to be a whiny bitch so the voice was appropriate. i particularly thought yuna was great, her voice was spot on. the right temperament and meekness for the character. rikku, kimahri, lulu were all sweet... wakka was a little grating but i got used to it... and once again, it fit the character. maybe i'm a little more forgiving when it comes to this sort of thing than most, but i'm traditionally really picky about voice acting. so yeah, i don't know. does anyone else dig it? or am i alone...?

I agree marky. I mean Tidus's wining gone on my nerves a tad, but it was nice to have the story spoken for once rather than trawling through countless screens of text. The best voices in my opinion were Auron's and Lulu's. Both fitted the calm nature of their characters. Seymour's was very good as well. Very creepy now that I think back

I also don't mind Rikku's voice in X-2, however Brother annoys me to the enth degree, but thats more to do with his character, but the voice acting doesn't help.

i'll probably get flamed for this, but i've never really seen the big problem people have with the ffx/2 voice acting. i think it was really well cast and on a whole, i liked it. sure, tidus was annoying, but he was supposed to be a whiny bitch so the voice was appropriate. i particularly thought yuna was great, her voice was spot on. the right temperament and meekness for the character. rikku, kimahri, lulu were all sweet... wakka was a little grating but i got used to it... and once again, it fit the character. maybe i'm a little more forgiving when it comes to this sort of thing than most, but i'm traditionally really picky about voice acting. so yeah, i don't know. does anyone else dig it? or am i alone...?

I think, like me, you can see what a character needs to sound like and appriciate it for that. I mean, everybody complains that Hayden Christianson acts like a spoilt brat in AOTC, but very few see that that's supposed to be how he acts.

Very creepy now that I think back
how the hell did i forget auron?! "that's how it's done!" was a constant highlight of the game :D i agree with you about seymour too.

my fav was definitely Wakka, since he was voiced by John DiMaggio, voice of Bender on Futurama!! also i agree on Auron & Lulu...as well as Paine from FFX-2...great voicing
wow, i did not know that. that's cool, are any of the other voices recognisable people?

The voice of Rikku is the voice of Meg off family guy and one of the Powerpuff girls.

I didn't see any huge problem with the voice acting either in Final Fantasy X either. They are not oscar-winning (or whatever ceremony would acknowledge this sort of acting) performances but i think they have done well to convey the emotions of the characters. Tidus (and maybe even Rikku) are, yes, whingey and sound like they are going through puberty, but as stated before that's how the character is meant to be; although having a whingey teenager as a protagonist(s) wouldn't be my choice at all :P

What I did have a slight problem with was the narration/soliloquy of Tidus. It reminded me of The Wonder Years (LOL).

I cringed at every FFX single cut-scene because the voice acting was that bad, but the rest of the game was enjoyable enough, and the events within the cutscenes made it all bearable.

I guess if I didn't have quite the same upbringing (dad's a film and theatre critic) then I wouldn't have cringed as much, or at all. But hey, them's the breaks.

What's everyone think of FFXI being made available on Xbox later this year?

Guys, while I DO respect your opinions, I feel compelled to say:

I DO NOT want subtitles to vanish from these games. They're the reason I love Final Fantasy so much - it allows me to participate. Everyone these days seems to be so hyped about technology bringing on voice shit and all that, but what about people like me, who are deaf and love playing games? Hell, I've had to take some games back simply because they didn't have the subtitle option and felt really ripped off/left out.
At the very least, I reckon ALL games and ALL DVD's should have subtitle options.
[/off topic] I got a few dvd's a while ago and nearly ALL of them didn't have subtitles. And I've discovered that the "classic" movies don't have subtitles... Really frustrating. (Go check it out. I guarantee you that at LEAST half of the great movies don't have subtitles. And no, I'm not talking about terminator or hollywood stuff. The decent ones.)

Mellomaniac
17-05-2005, 03:15 PM
There is no way i can say i understand your frustration Unemazezamer but i think i can say i appreciate subtitles just as much as you do. whether it be games or movies i always have the subtitles on. i like to know exactly what the character is saying and i wouldn't want to miss one bit of dialogue or whatever
So there is no way i would want text/subtitles to be taken away either and I strongly agree that a game should ALWAYS have the option to turn them on or off.

Unemazezamer
17-05-2005, 04:17 PM
Future_Boy - great to hear some people appreciate subtitles.

Still, subtitles have a ways to go before they're 100% accurate though. I can lipread pretty well and I've lost count of the number of times I've gone "WTF??? I saw that dude say "Get real you ****ing ****, don't ever come back to the ****ing establishment again or I'll break your nuts" and the subtitle goes something like this: "Get real! Don't come back again or I'll kill you!"

:what?:

Str8JaktJim
17-05-2005, 05:04 PM
I always have the subtitiles on anyway, becuase you can quite easily miss what someone says and, in a game, you can't rewind, so reading them makes it easier to get the story.

Just saw the PS3 tech demo of the FFVII intro...
Dame that's good, imagine what the battles would be like if the game was a remake. The whole game cut scenes could just be in-game
EDIT:Using in-game graphic for the game:
Cut scenes would have Yuffie and/or Vincent in them (Yay, they'll be in the ending :) ) after you get them to join you.
Characters would be shown what weapon they are using...
Different angles or have free camera during the cut scene.
Also saw the latest E3 trailer of FFVII:Advent Children
The trailer show more of the plot (alot of reference to "mother", Jenova?? )show a summon spell, High Wind made a apperence and also Cloud is infected with a new virus!!??

Correct if I'm wrong, the timeline is:

Before Crisis (mobile)-[-6 years]Play as the Turks (Guess we would learn more about Hojo and Gauss) .
Crisis Core (PSP)- [??]Play as Zack.
Final Fantasy VII (PSX)-The original game.
Advent Children (DVD/UMD)-[+2 years]Shows the aftermath of FFVII.
Dirge of the Cerberus (PS2)-[+3 years]Play as Vincent after the events of Advent Children.

From what I gathered people infected by Jenova are starting to suffer from the contamination of their cells or something and its referred to as Geostigma.

I'd buy a FF7 remake in a heartbeat.

Perhaps they did that to test the waters, find out if the support would be there if they did a remake.

i guess that having all the wireframe work at hand, it wouldn't have been too difficult to convert the opening movie into a tech demo. rendered cg quality from 1997 is probably around the same level as what a ps3 can handle in real time. i think they just updated aeris a little to take the cartoon edge off her.

new Advent Children trailer

Well, I liked the earlier ones, but FF seems to have not enough innovation or storyline for me to keep at it (To compare storyline, go read a really good Fantasy book) I guess I didn't play the later ones mainly because I didn't want a Ps2, so it's possible they may've restored a bit to the FF system. (I played X-2, though.)

However, 6 was great, 7 was ok (I'm possibly the only person in the universe who isn't wetting themselves at the thought of Advent Children)

8 had a card game. I ignored the rest of the game, and played cards.
FFTA made me feel that Square deserved to be put down. Along with CC, it destroyed most of my faith in them.

I don't really intend buying any more FF games, so I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Frankly I'm also getting a bit sick of Final Fantasy games ( actually more like console RPGs in genreal) too...

I have loved all the FF games from FVI up to FFX, but with FFXI like most would not get due the "paying as you play" thing (plus setting up the console to go on-line, PC ver.? nah) and FFX-2 I did not like it much (brought it on release, date, still havin't brother playing through :( ). I had wanted to get the FF:CC and the FF:TA, but knowing that I wouldn't end up playing it, dicided not to buy it.

Also I don't have as much time as I used to play lengthy RPGs.
Looks like FFXII maybe the last RPG I'll get for a long time (bring on the real time combat  ), which hopfully comes out around christmas, so I could spend my summer hoilday on it.

Funny thing is I'll still get the DVD anyway just to see my favorite FFVII characters in full blown action scenes :).

Well then I still get Dirge of the Cerbrace and Crisis Core ( hopefully its more of a action game ).

I'm probably the odd one out here, but FFXI was the first Final Fantasy game that I played with an intent to complete the storyline.

Finishing FFXI is just not an easy task, so I can't say I intend to do that, but after playing FFTA, FFVIII and FFX a bit, it wasn't until FFXI that I got the urge to play any of these again, let alone get past the first stages.

I'm actually now considering buying a copy of FFTA, because the copy I was playing has been taken away by it's owner >_<

I don't think it's the fees that makes it so different from the rest of the FF series, I think it's the set up where you simply can't build up uber characters and slap the bosses around with ease, due to level caps etc.

Im not sure I agree with you AWW. I do get sick of RPG's sometimes, but that tends to be bacause Ive played nothing else for a few days. Its always remidied by a quick change of genre. The RPG genre could do with a breath of fresh air, but their is still lots of good games surrounding the crap ones, and I think FFXII shall more than adequately satisfy me (and many other gamers).

I not really happy to have to fork out that monthly fee after getting the game, for the PS2 you would also need to get the HD, plus get the PS2 online (theres not really much else I could do with that either), not really up to playin on the PC.

I'm probably more worry to having to play along side other people, because I know I'm going to end up annoying them with my crap skills then help them :hand: ...
None my friend seems intersted either (they're playing World of Warcarft ATM)...

I may reconsidered when it comes out on the X-box.

It's been out for over 3 years in Japan, I'm pretty sure.

It's not on PS2 in Australia/Europe just yet (if ever)

For $50 at EB right now you can pick up the game + 2 expansions and one free month of gameplay.

It's been out on PC since September for Australia :)

Also, I think that once you get the PS2 + HDD combo, you only need to sign up to PlayOnline (the company that runs the online services for FFXI) not to Sony Network Entertainment or whatever it is aswell.

But its still a good game if ur a true FFT fan ull be disiponted i was.

I think everyone who has posted something in this thread is excited over this movie (...
Hard to belive that they're been making this film since 2003...
FFVII popluarity is only rival by FVIII and followed closlely by FFX here.

The only other FF game I really excited over is Crisis Core on the PSP (come on you play as Zack) and of course FFXII.

On the subject looks like its finally going to get a release for the Japanese (every step brings us closer to the game).

For new information...last I heard FFXII release date in the US had been pushed back to March 2006. This means we probably won't see it until Q2 - Q3 2006 for us. Also I must say the prerendered screens in the new Hyper looked sweet as.

FF3 on snes obviously FF6 in the Japanese versions then. Well the worlds have changed for every game except FFX and FFX-2 which are the same world. My only suggestion for finding out more about the FFX story is look up a FAQ for it or buy the game. Otherwise someone else might explain it.

Well, changing consoles has changed the series a lot. FF7 is one of the most brilliant games Ive ever played - if you can find a copy, buy it - best bet is www.realgamer.com
But apart from that were just continuing on the same path. And weve had a heck of a lot more brilliant music from uematsu. And now he's not really working on them any more either :cries:
FF10 was a great game, and (im playing through it now) ffx2 is pretty good too. But if you were to get a final fantasy game i would go for ff10 first.
Now I cant wait for 12.

what's the opposite of an orgasm? i'm thinking it's some sort of implosion... or just nothing.

Quite possibly painful, probably some sort of strange "de-pleasure" concept would probably be involved. And mabye your entire body will feel incredibly bad and weak, lethargic and un-motivated... and you'd probably be quite depressed.

Err... but why is it relevant?

Hey everyone. I'm new to all of this forum stuff, so yeah, just bare with me if I'm not making sence. Anyway, Final Fantasy is my current obsession - but I guess thats kind of uncommon in this place. I've played FF8, FFX and FFX-2, but have yet to find 7 and 9. I was wondering, if anyone out there knows, what score Hyper magazine gave Final Fantasy 8. I mean I loved it and thought this was about as good as an RPG can get, but I havn't played FF7, but I know it got a score of 95. So if anyone knows, I would love to know. Oh, and if any of you have an idea as to where I could get a copy of 7, please drop a line because I am desparate! I have the soundtrack for it, but no the game.
Thanks

"First Grand Theft Auto, and now this. I'm starting to think we should just ban all video games. Final Fantasy VII is an awful game, and should have never been created in the first place. I mean, look at the size of Tifa's breasts! They're destroying our childrens future. The problem of explicit video games is spiraling out of control." Clinton wrote in a letter to the head of the Federal Trade Commission. Tifa's breasts were unavailible for comment.

I think this is a permanent statement of how retarded people are. FFVII is a mature game that can be respected and understood at the correct time, its the parents fault for letting their children play it. It involves in the most amazing way human emotions and real issues, one of the reasons the FF games remain so enthralling. Seeing Cloud, Barret and gang blowing up a power plant doesn't make me want to go blow up something, it makes me respect the plight of the character, and want to keep playing. The same criticism is barely ever levelled at films because its respected as a sophisticated interest almost - films can be treated like art, as they sometimes deserve it, but just because video-games are often played by children doesn't mean its appropriate for or even desgined for them. And there fore irrelevant. If the parents don't like the game DONT BUY IT! What idiots.
It annoys the crap outta me to see things like this. George Bush is now opposed because mario doesn't involve blowing up powerplants. Nintendos aim is completely different to squares! I respect it no less, but their aim is to evoke positive emotions from all audiences, rather than use a mature story like the one of FFVII, or most of the others to appeal to an older audience. Favourite FF Games: IX (second favorite game of all time), the original FF (haha, so simple looking, so ****ing hard), X (for the soundtrack more than the actual game >.>), Mystic Quest (I don't know why, I just love it. It's so... bad.)
Favourite Playable Characters: Laguna, Squall, Vivi, Garnet, Red XIII, Vincent, Nooj (reminds me of Laguna in looks, but is a dick), Gippal, Paine and Baralai.
Favourite Villians: Kefka, Kuja, Seymour
Favourite Monster/Mascot: CHOCOBO <3 And Sabotender and Moomba!
Favourite Summon: I LOVE CARBUNCLE. He's way cute in XI, but I still love him in VIII.

I love Kingdom Hearts and all their versions of the FFVII characters, Aerith being my personal favourite despite how awesome Squall (er, Leon) and Cloud looked. I'm also not much of a Sephy fangirl.

My favourite FF character of all time is Laguna Loire, without question. I ADORE HIM. He is SUCH a moron, but in the end gets his thoughts straight and does the right thing by his girl. :) To quote Selphie (my brother's favourite character): "Sir Laguna is so cool!"

I got an E3 PSP Screen Cleaner from Tribaldemon the other day, it's SO great. It's a promo item for FFVII: Before Crisis (the game with the Turks, don't know if it's been mentioned since I haven't read the whole thread yet). Can't wait! Or for Dirge Of Cerberus! Hmm... maybe I'm a bigger FFVII fangirl than I thought.

I hope sqaure make a game about aeris's first boyfriend Zack I think he was a clone of jenova like cloud, he was also the fighter the came to neiblem 7 years before the events of FF7. So much about him remains a mystery, I think he and cloud where in the green capusles in the basement of neiblem mansion *where you find vincent* but if he and cloud where cloned how did tifa have childhood memories with cloud unless they where implanted by jenova.

But if Aeris and Zack where boyfriend and girlfriend that means he couldn't have been cloned because that would have been before the events of neiblem, that would also mean cloud wasn't a clone.

Another preplexing puzzel of FF7 was sepiroth's mother it was said in the game that his mother was jenova but if you play through the game and find out all the secrets you will relise that sepiroths mother was actually the scientist's girlfriend but, she ended up being injected by jenova cells and I think had a child by hugo I don't know how that really worked.

The trailer to advent children has sepiroth walking up to a woman it's possible that she is his mother and they reunite.

Oddly enough, as much as I didn't enjoy the clichéd storylines in FFX, it's the stories of FFXI that are really getting me excited the most.

As much as I find getting to the level cap in a couple of jobs exciting in FFXI, I really want to unlock all the CoP stories and RotZ stories too. In fact, just like Belly and Franklin did, I want to change nation as soon as I hit rank 10 and start on a whole new set of rank missions :)

Which is all pretty odd since MMO's don't tend to be very story driven, in general.

ookii_saru
14-08-2005, 12:27 PM
Kirok, it was made pretty obvious in the game that cloud wasnt a clone, but shared Zach's memories, because they're consciousness' where left to intermingle in the tanks at the Shinra Mansion in Nibleheim.
For story theory on everything else check out the stuff at www.ffshrine.com
It's a bit confusing, the guy there says that throughout the game, Sephiroth is just an image being manipulated by the real Sephiroth at the North Crater. Its seems logical, just confusing. Ive gotta go play through it again.
What are your guys opinions on FF7 story? It's my favourite FF to date.

Yeah, Xamer, I didn't like FF10 as much either. I think it wasn't so much the story, but (surprisingly) the terribly incosistent graphics (which just annyoed the heck out of me) and the bad voice acting.
It wasn't bad, I just didn't like it as much as previous FF's. I wish they'd include an option to play through it in Japanese with subtitles. They should do that with more games.

AWW

Nah your not the only one that dosen't like FFIX, there been quite few people at the start of the thread that said they didn't like...

I think out of all the current FFgames FFIX sales were the worst over here, it came out (way near the end of the PSone life), at a stage when game piracy was at a all time high, so most people got the game 6 months before it was even here...

Anyway I quite like the story and it really brought themes from the "classic" FF games into it. The characters were all based on preious FF games classes ( like ViVi = Black Mage and "Princess" Garnet = White Mage etc.) and there were quite a few other easter eggs and stuff.

Final Fantasy VII: (!!WARNING SPOLIERS AHEAD!!)

But in terms of story FFVII still sticks to my mind since finishing it all those years ago or it was because I played it through 9 times start to finish ( had no games back then http://img303.imageshack.us/img303/939/iconredface2jf.gif).
The main reason probably because of the many unanswered questions...
There are tons of theory on the net and all, but hopefully the movie sequel and games prequels should solve it (unless they do a FFVII remake and add more questions...). I also have heard of the real Sephiroth thing.

The real Sephiroth that Cloud knocked into the life stream scene that we see in Clouds head, was transported to the Northen Crater, cos' the planet is trying to heal itself (bring all resources to there). All the other Sephiroth that we fight up to the last scenes are the clones of him with Jenova cell infused (which explain why we always fight a part of Jenova when we fight him). These clones were all being controlled by the WILL :lolnot: of Sephiroth, which could be way all the clones were heading that way by 1/2 throught the game, for the reunion... (thats it for now post is too long :P )

To answer kirok questions, yeah there is a game based on Zack in develpment for PSP called Crisis Core ( set before FFVII and after Before Crisis ), next to nothing on it other then its going to be nothing like you ever seen before.

Yeah Before Crisis has been mention in this thread a number of times, so anyone been to its offical Japenese site?? No: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/mobile/bcff7.html (warning to 56k users takes a while but its worth it!! Also Requires a Flash/shockwave player, OH YEAH its all in Jap. too...)
Pretty cool and if you goto the 3rd button you get character bios, many familiar faces ( President Shinra, young Refus Heidegger and Scarlet, Turks ) and many new faces (Turk guys and not sure if one of them is Vincent [he once the head of the Turks right??] I think the guy is either 3/23 or 6/23 or even 21/23, if anyone that knows the Japenese can help it would be great).

There is also the FFVII: Last Order OVA (its anime, it cel animation too!!) set some time after Crisis Core, heres one image to exctie all who have not seen this (more Zack goodness here http://img288.imageshack.us/img288/2627/iconparty0em.gif (http://imageshack.us) ) found by Future_Boy (thanks!!) here http://www.estoys.co.jp/tmm/10/images/ffVIIac_ps06.jpg.

 Whoa I just noticed that the clothing that Cloud and Zack wearing are based on the ones shown in Before Crisis.

TO top it off heres my most favorite Before Crisis promotional art : http://www.square-enix.co.jp/mobile/game/bcff7/wallpaper/bc_wallpaper2_800x600.jpg

Here's some things to do with Final Fantasy VIII. One is an absolutely hilarious review, and the other is a plot analysis. Ezri was over at my house and we discussed the plot a little, which lead me to do some e-digging, since the sorceresses aren't explained very well.

Uh, obviously don't read the plot analysis if you haven't finished the game as it tells you EVERYTHING that happens :p

I reall badly want to play through VII again now.
So I will.
When I get the time.
One more thing - how where the Sephiroth clones created? By Shinra and Hojo?

I've also heard that the final battle with Sephiroth in the game is in Clouds mind (which would explain why they don't move) rather than with the real Sephiroth, caus cloud had been being controlled by Sephiroth through his Jenova cells.
??
Man, such a brilliant story, but confusing. But that makes it all the more interesting. Easily my favourite FF.

AWW
15-08-2005, 06:44 PM
I thought the final final battle was in the lifestream (remember the falling throught the tube thing??) and it was with the real Sephiroth!!

How he get there??
When the Weapons were release the whole Northen Crater collapsed, along with the real Sephiroth with the Black Material into the lifestream...

Then again the fight was all in the Cloud head is quite possbile too!!

The Sephiroth clones were done by Hojo as part of the JENOVA project or something.

With the Sephiroth mother thing, is that he never knew about his real mother ( Lucrecia ), as at birth he was taken away (she never even had a chance to hold him in her arm  ), which is way Sephiroth confuse with Jenova as being his mother.

A random note: At the end of FFVII I always thought of it as a possbility that the FFVII crew didn't make, that the planet wiped them out (thats the impression that I got from the end part with Red XIII), as I remember Red XIII grandfarther mention that we are on the bad sad with the planet for using Mako energy...

I really really hope that they port/remake Before Crisis for DS/PSP as I not really willing to get a mobile powerful enough to play it...

:? Err...
Zovni really brings but the memory of the year below me during high school, it was almost excatly what they were saying about all FF games...

Im not surprised that this guy is a predominantly PC gamer. Sure, he can praise doom for allowing you to blow the crap out of generic hellspawn if he wants, but how then can he criticise a game for being so much more? I apreciate his complaints about the battle system - but even I am now realising its positive side. How can he justify his comments on the story though? How is Squall generic?
In the end he can go and play his DOOM, Quake and Unreal Tournaments (which are good in their own right), but in the end, thats what this kinda guy is suited for. SO screw his opinion.

either way, i'm so hyped up for it (100x more than i was a few months ago), i'll prob order the OST first to get my fix :P

OMG FFIV will be released on the GBA with extra features!!!! *faints*

this is arguably my fav FF game so i'll definitely be picking this up, aaah can't wait, hopefully it'll be the original difficulty

Nintendo of America announced today that it will publish SquareSoft's classic RPG Final Fantasy IV for the Game Boy Advance this holiday season. The game will feature game elements added specifically for its GBA release.

This is not the first time RPGamers have seen a port of this title to another system. Originally released as Final Fantasy II in 1991 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Final Fantasy IV was also re-released in 1997 in Japan and 2002 in North America as a part of the Final Fantasy Chronicles collection along with Chrono Trigger, and for the Japanese Wonderswan Color handheld system in 2002.

As of yet, details on what exactly will be added to the game, and if anything will be changed, are nonexistent. Look for Final Fantasy IV on store shelves on December 12.

This is the one with Butz right? If so... YES. YESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!!!!

Future Boy: in response to your question, can you imagine the amount of whinging Nintendo would recieve if they released IV on the DS? You'd have the DS crowd complaining that the touch screen etc aren't used, and if they did use the new features, the oldschool FF fans would turn up to the HQ with pitchforks ready to stab every employee they come across.

Put Chrono Trigger on the cart as well, put Chrono Trigger on the cart as well...

...oh i would so love Chrono Trigger on GBA as well, i'd even get 2 copies, one for backup

EDIT: oh btw, Gamespot said the new features will include new areas & new abilities....my god this is the best news i've heard all year

i suppose you are right as that does make alot of sense; popular game for the popular system without having the need to enhance (or mutilate) the game. But also, you would think they would have their latest releases on the latest systems.

 Final Fantasy VI port to GBA (once again FFIII is left out :shrug:wait a mintue its going on the DS WTF...)
Yeah not releasing it on a newer system with add neeed to "enhance" the game makes sense.
You can play it on the DS anyway so everybody wins :)

Okay any idea why they're porting FFIII to DS, shouldn't they port a even older game to GBA as well??

* the FFIII on DS is a remake not a port, it's goin to utilise the touch screen apparently

anyway, this whole thing is obviously a strategy to boost GB Micro sales....the 'old school' gamers who grew up in the 16 bit era may have lost some interest in gaming...but since the Micro look so sleek, and combining with some of their fav childhood memories in FFIV, it may just bring some gamers out of retirement

That's the impression I got, as well, and that Nanaki was the only surviving party member because of the type of animal he is...

God it's been years since I last played a FF game. Is there a new one coming out anytime soon?

FFXII apparently been pushed to 16th of April and the US release to 1st of May, ha who knows when PALs gets our copy, December 2006 ??

Guess your better off getting the FFIV re-relase on GBA,not entirly new game but would do, guess you could also get the FFVII:AC , sure not a game, still Final Fantasy ;).

That's the impression I got, as well, and that Nanaki was the only surviving party member because of the type of animal he is...
I said that ages ago right...
Anyway guess it was good that it wasn't the end, otherwise there wouldn't be the FFVII sequel moive, or was it for the better, many mix reviews...
Then again the its been said that the movie explains why RedXIII could have cubs with him...

Yeah porting FFIII to DS made no sense at all, shoud have figure out on my own :(...

2006? goddammit! Ha! I'm thinking a December PAL release is being a little optimistic though.

Well at least the PS2 wont die the seconed the PS3 is out.

Does anybody recommend that FF I & II port for GBA? I'm kinda curious...

I think the GBA ports don't have the lag between screens (like the PSone WOnderswan ports) and it has a extra dungon or 2.

Looks like the storm of FFVII:AC finally release has finally calm, maybe its a good time to look at the game set a year after the end of FFVII:AC: Dirge of the Cerbrace!!

Oh yeah looks like Before Crisis is NOT getting release over here as our mobiles network isn't advance enough, can't they just do a PSP/DS port or something??
From what I read of plot it seems to be about the battle of the Turks against Avalance (appaerntly it was alot bigger back then :what?: ), I losed intersted from reading that, I thought it was about doing the evil deeds for Hojo and help set up the reators or somthing :(.

Ahh FF threads, the keepsake of Sony General.

Anyhoo Yuffie is looking alright, I was always a big fan. The new character is looking pretty kool too, loving that sword/whip thing she has. Meh I'm not too fussed about Before Crisis, it either gets here or it doesn't I don't mind either way really.

I was thinking about cracking out the good ol' FF Origins on my beasty beast of a beast PSX. (Mod-chipped >_>)

Great oldskool gaming - FF style.

It's always good to do so, I still enjoy going through FF1 (what's this like the 4th time now?). I like its direct approach and old school feel and is just generally fun to play.

One thing modern FFs are lacking because of their severely lengthy cutscenes and hand holding (in terms of where to go and what to do (FFIX onwards)) is replay value. I mean FFVI I can play anytime of the week because its sidequests were fun and the world of ruin is great to explore. Hopefully FFXII will rectify this, perhaps even using a random dungeon generator in some parts to spice things up or maybe bringing the weapon building aspects of FFVIII.

That's is funny stuff. Phoenix downs seem to work in fights, why not in FMV's.

By the way has there been any talk of the DVD being released here of FFVII:AC
