I used to have this game but my Dreamcast and everything with it was stolen about a year ago. I unlocked the original HOTD but have no idea how I had done it. I suspected that it was unlocked after so many hours of playing, but I probably fluked it. I hope I can fluke it again!
I found nothing about unlocking HOTD1 in HOTD2 - if anyone can find some info, it'd be greatly appreciated.

You only pay tax on items that have a consumer value of over $1000 or have a combined duty/GST total above $50. The item in question has neither and hence you don't have to pay tax on it. Thus the Hello Kiity Dreamcast is available for $335 inc postage. $165 less than what you paid for your second hand model.

I have truly gone over to the dark side.
Something in 1990 I pledged I would never do. My loyalty to Sega was unyeilding. I played with my friends who owned Master system's and then Mega Drive's, and neglected and scorned those who had NES and SNES.
I then bought my own Mega Drive in '91. And as they appeared I purchased more Sega products, always faithful, always true. Game Gear in '92 instead of Game boy, Saturn in '95 instead of the Playstation.
But then it happened late in '97. Goldeneye 007. On that damn evil creation from the bowels of hell itself - Nintendo N64. What was I to do. My life had reached a crossroad. I had to make a decision that would change me forever. There could be NO going back. The very next day I bought an N64, Goldeneye 007, and three more controllers.
Oh I told myself it wasn't so bad, it was only 1 game and pushed 'my pledge' to the back of my mind. But slowly, ever so slowly the darkness within my soul was taking over, being fueled by the insatiable Nintendo machine. Before I knew what was happening there were Gameboy games lying about, and in '98 Gameboy Colour games were also appearing in the house.
I felt like I was in a deep trance, and awoke one morning to a moment of clarity to find a Sony Playstation nestled at the foot of my bed. I passed out. It was 1999 the Dreamcast was released and I felt this was my chance, my destiny. Before the turn of the millenium I would cleanse my soul and become true once more.
That summer was one of the happiest of my life. While the rest of society was hoarding supplies or preparing for the end, due to the Y2K bug, I was content. Happy to meet my maker. All was forgiven.
But alas this time of inner peace was soon to be shattered. Sega Enterprises Ltd. would be no more. Sega Corporation would take it's place and no longer continue console production.
I had been betrayed. I felt the rage building inside of me. But there was another. A new hope. X-box
However, this experience had left me jaded and unsure where my loyalties would lie. And so, I trained in the ways of the PS2, for a short time.
But, the power of Xbox Live drew me back from Sony, and has kept me fairly content.
Until now 2005. We stand on the eve of the next generation and I find myself at a crossroad once more. And so the final act. To prove that I am my own man, able to purchase my next cosole with no sentimental or emotional attachments.
I have purchased a Super Nintendo Enterainment System and my very first SNES game. The game, one that I had played in '93 or at least part of, since it was shareware on the PC- none other than Wolfenstein 3D, a classic.
Well, imagine my horror. I now remember why I had such a hatred of Nintendo in my earlier years. Wolfenstein had been sanitized. And since I am now foaming at the mouth, I think this quote from Wikipedia might put it better.
"Due to concerns from Nintendo, the Super NES version was modified to not include any swastikas or Nazi references; furthermore, the attack dogs in the game were replaced by giant rats, and blood was replaced with sweat to make the game seem less violent. Three new weapons and a score system were added as well. However, the Super NES version was not as successful as the PC version. Many reviewers and Wolfenstein enthusiasts believed that the censorship of elements regarding Adolf Hitler and Nazis made the title incomplete and almost an entirely different game."
Any way I got the game for 10 bucks, so I can't complain too much, or is it already too late for that ?.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a87/chillithunder/SNESWolfenstein.jpg
Thanks to every-one who took the time to read this, you didn't really have to, I just needed to vent.

Considering that PC version can be downloaded for free from like, almost anywhere, I'd say it was a waste of $10.00 :-P
Although, SNES Wolfenstein is a pretty infamous title, so perhaps it has some collector value to own an actual copy of the worst port of W3D ever. :-D

House of the Dead 2/Dreamcast gun combo. I found this sitting in a Retravision while holidaying. Went to a place on the Vicorian west coast called Portland and nicked into retravision to get batteries. Saw the distinctive Dreamcast blue out of the corner of my eye and had to investigate. The price tag was $139 so I asked the salesman and he offered it to me for $40. They were glad to get rid of it and I was glad to rid them of it.
The box is decorated with HOTD2 artwork and both the gun and game haven't been touched. The actual box has a few scuff marks though.
Not really retro but I found a sealed copy of Ico collectors edition from the same store which I got for $80. Might be worth a bit more than that one day I'm hoping!

I went games shopping for the first time in AGES today and found some awesome stuff!
Yesterday: complete (PAL) Saturn minus controller - $10. OH YEAH. It works and stuff, so it's going to my beloved Kassles for Christmas :D (I just could not leave this one for the eBay whores)
Today:
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus for PC - $10, complete, resealed! This is AWESOME. Tribal told me they'd sell for about $50 each if he'd bought them for Game Traders. I'll being giving my PSX copies to my brother, since I originally played the games on the PC and it feels more natural.
Saturn controller - $4
Rock n Roll Racing, Mega Drive, cart only - $3
Klonoa for the PSX, complete - $10. YAY. I have been looking for this game for such a long time and I FINALLY got it!
Spice GCN controller - $10 (been looking for one of these for ages too, and cbf putting it in the other thread)
AND! Paine from FFX-2 figurine, along with Zidane, Garnet and Steiner from FFIX for $10 :D

I was cleaning up my spare / junk room and I found a shoe box full of old crap, it also contained a Megadrive cart - Might & Magic.
BIG DEAL, I hear you say, well I thought it was a cool game, but the story doesn't end there.
I called my sister to tell her cause she used to love the game ( plus it sorta belongs to her and she has been looking for it for YEARS ).
Anyway, she was pretty excited and then proceeded to tell me she was also doing some cleaning and planned on getting rid of some stuff and asked if I wanted anything.
Well, being the hoarder that I am my ears pricked up instantly. I asked as casually as possible ( I didn't want to seem too eager ), " What are you getting rid of ? "
She replied " Oh just my Saturn and games and a few bits and pieces "
I nearly fell off my chair while screaming hysterically " I'LL TAKE IT! "
So, I acquired, a Sega Saturn in original box and packaging with controller etc. Plus the following games, Command and Conquer, Discworld, Exhumed, Hexen, Mystaria:The Realms of Lore, Road Rash, Shining Wisdom, The Story of Thor 2, and Virtual Hydlide. And also a N64 clear purple controller.
Gee I'm glad I cleaned up the spare room,... cause now I need more storage space.
Edit : Hey Cranky just saw your post, thanks mate. Wow I'm having a great week.

Seems a silly idea, considering that you need a car to travel to some of the best places for buying retro games (e.g sundaay markets, cash converters etc.)
If I didn't have a car, I can safely say I wouldn't have anywhere near the amount of games I have today.

CRANKY are you still drunk?
As I mentioned before I did write a long winded story about how I came about it all.
But some how I deleted it before the server would let me post it. :banghead:
My long version also included how I argued with my gf about buying some expensive ties for a wedding when all I was thinking about was how many games I could buy with the tie money (since I already own 30+ ties)
But in the end it all worked out well cause my gf let me put back the $60 tie and i only had to get 2x $30 ties, but also as I found out when I looked at the receipt back at home the cashier had only charged $18 to my credit card instead of 60. Disgust instantly turns to joy
So in my mind, I now had 60 + 42 = 102 to spend on games, which I promptly did so
Master System 2 + Super Monaco GP 2 = $10
from my man cranky who found it at a garage sale
Mega Drive games either 3 or 4 bucks each at various garage sales all with cases
The games for the Commodore 64 were in a bin of old cassette tapes, also at a garage sale, I spotted river raid on top and asked the guy how much he replied "$1 each for music cassette" so I said "I'll look for more" I also found Attack of the Mutant camel toe and a comodore 64 tape player oh and a cassingle of nirvana's smells like teen spirit (all up 11 items) so i asked the old guy again " how much ", " six dollar " he replied.
Beauty SOLD
Atari 2600 console was 20 buckaroonis games were $ 2 dollars each
10 + 32 + 6 + 20 + 8 = $ 76
COOL I still have cash $26 to burn
Edit: Actually make it $32 cause I would of spent $6 for the nirvana cassingle alone. It's all justified. In my eyes anyway

Brilliant! Now what did I learn from Chilli's tale:
1. Go to markets and garage sales more
2. Stop buying expensive ties, buy cheap ones and then get the sales staff to indercharge you with mind control
3. Use money saved from ties and buy lots of games :P
Only problem is that I don't wear ties, being a gal, so I shall have to find an equivalent... hmmm.... :D

Yeah or more likely leave it for some little kid to buy it and completely destroy it. The chances of a serious collector coming across are next to nil. In fact as soon as i picked it up a few kids aged 8 or 9 come up and had a look at it.
So I might mke a couple of bucks on E-bay, big deal. At least it will be in the hands of someone who will appreciate it. I buy off E-bay often and can sometimes pay a lot for some rare game or somthing. I don't complain about it, it is all part of being a collector. I need the money to feed my Saturn/Dreamcast collection. Don't like it? Ah well. 8-)

First of all Cranky I knew there was a reason I didn't like you, here I was thinking it was your dress sense, back to business...
A couple of weeks back I got a Dreamcast with 1 controller, and 1 game " Sonic Adventure ", the case and manual are in good nick,
But I just sat down to take Sonic out for a spin and have found Soul Calibur in the case.
I don't if I should be upset or not. :veryconf:
Well, now every one can relax, to those of you that were concerned for my mental well being I have to report that I am one stupid SOB. Some of you may recall two weeks back I found Soul Calibur...
Okay, okay every-one can relax a little now I found Soul Calibur for $15 in a pawnbrokers during the week. And the good news is the case, jacket, manual and disc are in perfect condition. yay.
Now, to find a disc of Sonic Adventure
Since I've been busy playing Master System stuff and was waiting on a light gun to play House of the Dead 2 I had forgotten that I just quickly tried out the Dreamcast when I got it.
Well Cranky brought the gun around this morning and when we opened the Dreamcast to put in HotD2 BANG Sonic Adventure sitting in the tray.
How Happy was I? 2 hours late for work happy.
Well to celebrate today I went to a few pawnbrokers in the Sydney Rd(Melb) area (and came across one of the rudest dudes ever) any way I got Shadow Man, Urban Chaos, and, Hidden & Dangerous ten bucks each.
It didn't help though I still feel like a dumb SOB. But happy, oh so happy, stupid dumb happy.

I remember a time when games were plentiful in pawn shops and such and prices were low.
Now they're all snapped up by ebay sellers and sold online for inflated prices.
This is why I'm annoyed.

I didn't get it to sell on E-bay. I didn't even know it had value when I bought it. I was about to leave it there and then thought "stuff it I'll get it for my little brother." A mate of mine told me they were saught after so I decided not to give it to my brother( you should see the condition of his DS). I don't want it so the best and easiest way to get it to someone who wants it is E-bay. I've never even sold on E-bay, this will be a first so to suggest that I am buying things to whore off on E-bay is completely unfair.
I find that I generally pay more for standard titles in pawn shops than E-bay. If you can get a few games off one seller the post isn't much which helps. The only games you will pay more for are the rare titles and even they are'nt too bad if you are prepared to import from the US or UK.
Sorry, I guess I overreacted.
I've sold a few things on eBay too. I guess I've just had so many problems here in Perth with a few eBay whores around here. They snap things up at pawn shops and then flog them on eBay. One guy even advertises in the paper that he'll give you more for your old retro games than Cash Converters etc., only so he can put them up on eBay at a higher price.
I don't mind people buying everything in sight as long as they're a collector. These eBay whores on the other hand just serve to inflate the price of retro gaming/collecting.

Welcome to N64 - one of the best consoles ever made.
As for games, I would pay any more than $20 tops for a loose cartridge. Cash Converters generally sell their N64 games (loose or boxed) for anywhere between $10 and $20, so they're a good place to start.
Sunday markets are a great place, though it's hit and miss and prices can vary wildly (they can either be excellent, or rip-off merchants).
Of course there's ebay, where again, the prices can vary greatly. Loose carts never go for as much as boxed stuff though.
The N64's a good console to get games for though, as prices are on their way down at the moment, and there aren't that many rare games. The best stuff is dead easy to find, and the rare stuff is minimal (and generally not worth the effort).
Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, Lylat Wars, Mario Kart 64, Blast Corps, Perfect Dark, Super Smash Bros. and Banjo-Kazooie represent some of the finest examples of what the N64 has to offer, none of which should set you back anymore than $10 a piece (loose cart).

About 5 or 6 years ago I loaned my cousins my then entire Megadrive collection. Well yesterday I was at a family wedding and decided to ask my cousins if they were still playing my games. I hadn't asked earlier, since I have so many other games it seemed a bit awkward, but had since found out that they have a PS2, so figured it was ok. Well it turns out they were no longer playing them and said they would bring them over today. I said "COOL". And was quietly relieved that they hadn't sold them.
I'm not sure if I should technically be posting in this thread, I know they were my games, but I had sort of written them off, so I figure I am re-acquiring them today. In fact I had forgotten some the titles and was quite pleasantly surprised this morning.
Any way enough of the bullshit heres the games I re-acquired,
Bubsy
Captain America and The Avengers
Columns
Maximum Carnage
Shadow Dancer The Secret of Shinobi
Spiderman X-Men Arcades Revenge
Streets of Rage II
Theme Park
X-Men
Quackshot (cover/manual only - I still had the cartridge)
Might & Magic (cover & manual only which belongs to my sister)
All of the covers and manuals are in excellent condition, except for M&M which was second hand anyway
I was so happy I nearly wet my self.
Anyway it looks like its gonna be a bit longer before I start on Far Cry which I have now had for about 3 or 4 weeks.
Also I probably won't be hitting the garage sales so hard for a while.
Edit : Just reading back over this old stuff - I never ended up playing Far Cry and I am now addicted to garage sales - HELP.

Spiderman X-Men Arcades Revenge
Just out of curiosity, does sentimentality get this game in your good graces at all or do you have a dislike for it? Its a fixture in my worst mega drive games list, but I was just curious to see if you had a soft spot for it? I mean, surely theres a redeeming feature besides the first level (which is actually almost fun).
Still, nice work (re) aquiring Maximum Carnage and SoR 2, which would probably set you back more than the average MD game on ebay. The more Mega Drives saved from eternity in storage the better! :D

Yeah I was especially pleased to get Streets of Rage 2 and Maximum Carnage back. Those two games in particular I spent alot of time playing with my girlfriend when we first started going out.
To tell you the truth Arcades Revenge was one of the titles I had forgotten about, but if I remember correctly it did suck. I also had forgotten about X-Men which if I also remember wasn't that great. However I used to collect X-Men comics years ago and enjoyed the games simply cause I could play as an X-Man and because I knew the storylines. I'll give all the games a run over the next few weeks and I'll let you know how my memories hold up.
I thought I also had Adamatium Revenge but my girlfriend tells me that we used to hire that one. So I guess I will still be hitting the garage sales after all.

Try cleaning the cartridge connector. Use a damp cotton bud (or Q-tip) and rub the gold connector surface on both sides.
If you still have no luck, try cleaning you SNES's cart connector in a similar fashion.
If you still can't get it to work, then the cartridge might be dead.

i can probably sell you one if you like (new in packet), pm me.
this weekend was awful for me.
there was a guy at the market, who had a bunch of nice stuff in a box (mint complete zelda nes carts, heaps of gb games etc...) and when i tried to look through it he told me to "go away dont touch it" and moved it away, i said "what? i want to buy some stuff man, isnt it for sale?" he goes, "no not to you, you try to thief!" so i walked around the market, saw a bunch of rip off n64's and psx's and some old couple who wanted $10 per loose dirty snes cart, all crap games. so i thought i dont want to fail and go home empty handed, i'll go back to the guy. Well the moment i walked up to his stall he tells his son to stand infront of the games etc, such a ****ing bastard, i wanted to pay him money for the goods he was selling, dumb****!
i went home empty handed and sad.

You can buy Mega Drive 2 AV cables of ebay for like $10, but the ones on the bay only have mono sound (1 video cable and 1 audio cable), but I spose the alternative is an rf cable, which is also mono anyway..
That said, I'm still holding out for a stereo AV cable for my MD2/32X combo :'(

Ha, I just sent you a pm should of checked here first.
Yeah, I am going to set it up I've just gotta clean it up a bit, it's had a few stickers on it, and some bastard has put chewy underneath but that'll come off with a touch of Big Kev's goo remover.
Also I'm gonna buy a screen from cash converters if none of mine fit in properly. So that's gonna cost a couple of hundred but I wanted to replace the mono tv I've got out in the backroom anyway.
And I didn't pay for it, Harvey Norman were throwing it away. :jawdrop:
I went in to see if they had any discounted games, when I asked an asssistant if they had any game cube games he said yes and lead me over to a table which had only 3 gcn games left.
After a bit of a chat he told me about the stand, so I went straight home and got my trailer. :D

Yesterday after finding the Atari, I planned on going back to bed, but was on such a buzz I decided to go out again. The local Scout group were holding a car boot sale so I went out not expecting much but if all I found was a cactus for the garden I'd be happy.
Well it was pretty good, I guess the parents of the kids who were scouts are anti gaming and decide to clean house.
I walked away with, another original Atari AC adapter (two in one day cool) for $3, and the following games...
ICO still wrapped for $20
Haunting (Mega)
Altered Beast (Mega)
Gradius (NES)
Demon Attack (Atari) now theres a bad cover

How good is the opening theme for Road Avenger? Really suits the genre to a tee.
...
Oh, what the hell...
I know I'm gonna revive
When I am...on the road.
I've got nowhere to hide
When I am...on the road.
And there's no use in wondering what
Made you feel like parting from me then, girl.
How many more tears must I shed
So as to melt the frigid wall of time?
So I'm gonna break it
Have no fear...on the road.
You know I'm sure to make it
No matter what's...on the road.
I know too well it's very hard
It's just barking for the silver moon.
But I don't care how long it takes,
As long as she lights up my way in the gloom
Until the very moment
When I see you again,
I'll keep speeding along the road to the sun,
The burning sun!
Hear the roars of my car,
I'm nearly round the bend,
Searching for the love that we did share.
There's no one who can stop me now.

Unfortunately, no. Thrawn is such a cool bad guy though. They should make a game series or movie series out of it. Personally, I'd love to see a TV show made out of the X-Wing books/comics. I think that's much better suited to a tv series than the main SW characters.
FYI, Thrawn features in the TIE Fighter game on PC.

No. There's four of the old flight sim games from the SW universe. There's X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing Vs TIE Fighter and X-Wing: Alliance. I'm pretty sure X-Wing and TIE Fighter (definately X-Wing) were originally released on 3.5 floppy disk format, but both were re-released on CD and were called Collector's Edition.
Been trying to play Mysteries of the Sith, but I'm finding unusually hard to pass the first level. Having been used to using the mouse in games, and because looking left and right with the mouse have been reversed and me finding it easy to play the game without strafing, makes it that much harder. I'm beginning to appreciate what the mouse has down for FPS games.
Edit:
This is the game.
