So i got my jap PSone copy of the King of Fighters 98 in the mail the other day. Awesome condition, can't read a ******ing word of the packaging. Only gripe is that there is a load screen between everything... each round within a fight, and even post fight victory screens. And the crappy digitised speech from the NeoGeo version is retained.
However it is still an awesome game... cept for Rugal at the end >_>

Also picked up a Dreamcast, with 2 controllers and a VMU.

Not retro, but i also grabbed the Special Edition of Killzone for PS2 for $25. Nice tin case, with bonus DVD.

Now comes the important question...

How the HELL, do you remove the cashies stickers without gunking up the item? The DC has 2 on the lid!!

You'd assume Super Castlevania IV (Unless there's an XX on the cover)

Well the exact same one as being sold here (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8256785550&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

Yeah I need some help with removing cashies stickers too, what about cardboard boxes?

Straight onto the sticker then leave it for about 5 minutes then peel off and wipe with a cloth. You can also use this technique on cardboard boxes you just have to be a bit more gentle.

Got my Illusion of time and Street fighter 2 off ebay in the mail yesterday both in perfect nick, i open up the streetfighter 2 and what do i find inside on top of whats in there:
1 x sealed legend of zelda secrets book.
1 x mint legend of zelda map
1 x mint mario all stars manual
Strange, but it means my Zelda:LTTP is now complete.Talk about a stroke of luck.

If you have gunk still on there do the same thing but depending on how long it has been there you may have to repeat a couple of times.

Well I slept in till 9 this morning because there was only 3 garage sales listed in the paper for this weekend, pretty quiet compared to the 20 odd per weekend in December.

However as I was driving around town, I soon found signs that lead me to at least another 8 or 9.

Most of it was rubbish, I did manage to find 4 cacti and a couple of matchbox cars... oh and did I mention a huge box of SEGA GOLD!!!!

It contained the following crap, I mean goodies...
1 x Mega Drive 1 - av leads but no power supply
1 x Mega Drive II - both sets of leads
1 x Mega Drive II instruction manual
3 x Sega controllers
1 x third party controller ("DOCS"???) with autofire/slow etc
1 x Quickshot joystick
Complete games as follows...
Global Gladiators - what a sell out
NBA LIVE 95
PGA Tour Golf III - still 3 or 4 years before Tiger Woods signed up
Marko's Magic Football
Sonic Compilation - StH 1&2 and DrR's Mean Bean Machine
The Adventures of Mighty Max
Ren & Stimpy - Stimpy's Invention ( actual Sega Gold  )
and the following games without manuals
Road Rash
Cyborg Justice
Street Fighter II Special Championship Edition ( sadly the rear half of the cover is no more  )
and Megagames 6 Vol.2 no case or cover but does have manual (weird)
Lion King - cart only

And for some reason a Master System Flyer, check out alll the cool peripherals...

If it's the one I saw on the counter today at e2, it looked like it had just come off the assembly line.
IT WAS MINT, grape flavoured, but perfectly mint.

WHAT ???
SEGA has gone out of fashion - thats crazy talk.

Anywho all of the games I got today work, but the consoles are both a little tempremental.
I cleaned some gunk out of one of the cartridge slots - now I understand the term "pre-loved" :evillaug:
All of the controllers work fine, and we are now spending some more time on the better titles, Revenge of Shinobi, Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, Street Fighter II SCE, Streets of Rage, and yes Road Rash.

Once you factor in postage on eBay though, it's abotu the same and $60 isn't TOO bad for a mint grape N64 - especially consider that includes a mint controller with a mint joystick. Which is worth it's weight in gold. :-P

Another World (MD) - cart only - $3
I wanted to see if the game was as stupidly difficult as I remember it. And yes, it is - and I don't get it either.
And -
Road Avenger (CD) - $3!
Yes, I actually paid money for Road Avenger - I don't have a copy because the Mega CD I bought actually didn't come with one - the guy lost it.
But cashies had 4 copies and they were all $3, so we went through and found the best case, cd and manual, so the copy I ended up with is in good nick.
I played it for about 4 minutes and then I remembered how crap it was, so onto the shelf it goes.

I've had real trouble coming across games in the wild lately. I only ever come across the same old games that I didn't want when they were first released. Snowboard Kids 2 was a nice find but to be honest I'm not likely to be playing it multiplayer ever, which was where the games strength lies.

Its possible that I'm just not looking frequent enough, but without a license, its difficult to go on city wide searches regularly.

I really need to find some more Master System games.

I collected Megadrive stuff up until about 1999 and have still got 21 copies of Virtua Racing ! I paid $75 for a 2nd hand copy soon after it was released (it was originally $199.95) and subsequently bought every copy I ever saw at 2nd hand stores , video stores, garage sales etc (mostly $5 to $10 each). I thought they might be collectable given the high original price tag . Even though they're not worth much now I had great fun finding them . This was before e-Bay when it was a lot harder to find certain titles.

I recall paying $90 for the same thing about 3 years ago - was one of last "new" PSX releases, I think. Never saw many copies of it around, either.

My Saturn arrived yesterday, so I am pretty happy - came with a ton of games, although I don't think I'm likely to play many except Sega Rally, Sonic Jam and the Fighters Megamix - but still good fun, and am waiting on a copy of Daytona: CCE to arrive.
So now I am on the lookout for decent saturn controllers, cause the one the came with it feels incredibly loose (despite not being used, ever, apparently.) Looking for one of those 3D controllers also, they look pretty snazzy.

Oh, and I also found Lost Vikings, Virtual Pinball and Sonic Spinball, all complete (for MD, obviously)

You wouldn't be the first or last person to get carried away whilst bidding. I often see an item go for a lot more than what it can be bought buy it now off another seller. The idea is to know exactly what your max is and don't get into a bidding war.

I lose more auctions than I win. Although I once typed in the wrong amount as my max bid when bidding for earthworm jim CD. I ended up paying forty dollars all up. I still can't believe that someone bid me all that way. My max bid was 35 pounds rather than the more appropriate 3.50 pounds. I no longer bid when I am really tired.

Rock n roll racing (MD) - Paid probably too much, but it is in my opinion up there with micro machines being one of the best racing games available for the MD.
36 Great Holes (32x) - Cart only - $5

Rok N Roll Racing is still one of my all time favouites...I imported the US Snes version as soon as it was released (the Snes Pal version came out about 6 months later) . I grabbed the Genesis version when I was on holdays in the US about 11 years ago from Software Etc. The release of the Australian Pal Megadrive version looked unlikely , then it suddenly appeared ages after the US version at a discount price ($69.95 Aus if I remember correctly) . I got it at the now defunct Virtual Reality Games at Bondi in Sydney.

The Snes version has better sound quality overall and you can use the shoulder buttons on the Snes controller to slide into the corners. The Genesis/Megadrive versions have Radar Live on the soundtrack , one of the best driving songs ever . The GBA version is highly recommended (released in the UK and the USA). It is virtually identical to the Snes version , and I am amazed it was never officially released in Australia given the questionably quality of many GBA games that do get released in Australia .

Its not retro but you shoudl hunt down a copy of Racing Gears Advance (GBA). An awesome top down racer (possibly the best). Was released in the UK and USA. Not sure about Australia (I bought mine on UK ebay).

Racing Gears Advance is one of the next games I intend tracking down due to the glowing reviews it received. Another game you might enjoy is Tokyo Xtreme Racer Advance (GBA) ...I recently got it from the US and it was well worth the purchase .

That's alright for the 32x games, do you guys ever tend to find any 32x stuff at Cashies or such like. I've seen Timekillers at one once that said it was a 32x game on the price tag, but apart from that and the time I sold my stuff off, I've never seen it.

I used to see 32X stuff all the time at Cash Converters up until about 5 years ago. Roughly about 6 consoles per year almost always with one or more of the following games: Virtua Racing , Doom ,Fred Couples , Kolibri ,Star Wars, Moto Cross , Cosmic Carnage , Metal Head and Virtua Fighter . Big W cleared out all their 32X consoles with a game for $18 Aus each about 10 years ago .

Most times I see Timekillers for the Pal Megadrive it's an ex-rental copy...it did have a small official Australian release and was picked up by most video rental stores towards the end of the Megadrives's lifespan in Australia .

I guess that means I should probably try to find a GBA now then. :)
Does the GBA count as retro yet? Aren't new titles still coming out for it?
It doesn't really phase me either way, as most of the games on it that I have played feel "old school" - plus I like Pokemon!
I checked out the IGN review of Racing Gears Advance - that perspective for the racing looks almost identical to Glimmerati for the N-Gage, which is a ripper racing game too.

The Snes version has better sound quality overall and you can use the shoulder buttons on the Snes controller to slide into the corners.
Yes, one of the flaws on the Mega Drive - other being if you are using a 3-button controller, it is next to impossible to fire your weapon without getting carpal tunnel syndrome. (A+C pressed together when you invariably have the B button pressed)
If I ever buy a SNES, I might find a copy for it then. :) But I'm not holding my breath right now - nothing wrong with a snes, but I am going Sega first!

Hi Carey! :D Did you buy it from Gaijin, or was this a different (and slightly cheaper) one? Does it have yellowing? Can I have it?

Well, on the Sonic Saturn, after way extensive research on it, it seems that no matter how old or new the Sonic Saturn is, the lid will be a brighter color than the rest of the console. It seems to have been manufactured that way. Bright Lid, less bright console. Sega likes to make different hues for their lids? Who knows.

Gaijin's, on the otherhand, was just yellowing, plain and simple.

I gotta say, mine looks brand new though :)

But, I'll get pictures soon, if I ever get a working digital camera again. My last one sadly met its demise lately.

But negatory on the Gaijin, I got it from some ebay store, crazy ebay.

So wait, is Timekillers rare then? I was just considering picking it up because it was one of those first violent games and wanted to give it a go

As for the Sonic Saturn, I noticed the guy who sold Batman & Robin for Mega CD was selling one as well, the link is http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8261667555&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BID_IT

I'd definitely buy it if I saw it...as far as Pal Megadrive titles are concerned it would be similar in scarcity to Alien Soldier , Daze Before Christmas and Megaman In Wily Wars all of which were released late in the lifespan of the Megadrive in Australia .

Only five garage sales listed in the local papers today and again I found another five or six along the way.

One from the paper I almost didn't go to because I thought the address was the same as last week but it turned out to be the house next door, which was lucky because I got for $10 a chipped PSX with 2 analog controllers + 2 memory cards and 2 games - Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes back & Crash Bash both complete.

I also found 2 more PS controllers both dual shock, one is from a PSone for 2 bucks each.

And for $10 a G-Con 45 light gun in box in practically new condition - it doesn't look like it has been used and the woman selling it said they never had a game for it. WEIRD. But cool for me.

Edit : Nearly forgot also got for $2 one of those N64 cart caddy/stands.
I've been trying to get one cheap for ages but I kept seeing them fo $10-20 screw that.

Ah dang it, well going to the same store today so I'll see if it's still there. Just out of interest, do you know if the SNES version of Daze is equally as rare? I've tracked down a copy of that for $20 for cart only but was unsure.

Chilli, what do you look for in a listing for you to check it out, I never see any that are bluntly "videogames" but never normally bother with garage sales.

Bright Lid, less bright console. Sega likes to make different hues for their lids? Who knows.
Maybe it's something similiar to the SNES's yellowing problem. Not all parts of an early model SNES may yellow, because it's not all made of the inferior quality plastic.

Maybe Sega used inferior plastic for the console shell, put better plastic for the lid. :shrugs:

Anyway today:
Breath of Fire IV (PSX) - complete ex-rental, $9.95. This will be going to Amy Rose. :-)
Virtua Fighter (Saturn) - complete, $5.00

Chilli, what do you look for in a listing for you to check it out, I never see any that are bluntly "videogames" but never normally bother with garage sales.I go to them all, in my area
Last night I went to bed around 4 or 4.30 am and got up at 9ish to hit the garage sales early
But I look out for other stuff too, toys, books, figures and especially cacti or succulents for my garden.

As far as a specific listing for games it's rare and I find with most things listed they are the first things gone any way, snatched up by some-one looking for that item.

Probably the best hint that there may be something console related are the terms - toys or computer/games.

But it really is pot luck, also it doesn't hurt to ask or tell them what you are looking for in particular.
They may have a mint condition Dreamcast sitting in a box in the spare room, and forgot or couldn't be bothered bringing it out.

I had a situation where I was leaving and the woman asked what I was after, and I told her, either a cactus or video games and she promptly called her husband from inside and told him to go and dig a cactus out of the back yard.

Where on Earth did you start an addiction with cacti?

It was my birthday yesterday so bought a fair few games these last few days, old and new. Went on a Cash Convertors hunt today with my mate, had a pretty good haul in the end.

Got...
Fatal Fury (MD) $4
Street Fighter 2 (MD) $4
Rainbow Islands (MS) $3
Hogs Of War (PSX) $9
Point Black 2 (PSX) $12
Time Killers (MD) $10

Also picked up an AV cable for Dreamcast. A friend lost theirs about a year ago and has been without it for a year.

I saw Wario World for $15 but passed on it

In my experience the Pal Snes version of Daze Before Christmas is harder to find than the Pal Megadrive version in Australia. If you have the slightest inkling that a game is rare , it's always a good idea to buy it if you can when you first see it because it will most likely be gone when you go back . The hardest Pal Megadrive game for me to find in Australia pre e-Bay was probably Snake Rattle & Roll which I only saw once in the wild.

Got my copy of Toukon Retsuden 4 (New Japan Pro Wrestling 4) from Play-Asia today. Apparently this series was what the Smackdown series was based on, as both were developed by Yukes. Funny to see that some stuff in this game have only just appeared in the more recent releases of Smackdown (blood and holding onto submissions for example)

Animation is a little weird. It sometimes looks rather jerky, so they its bad mo cap, or reasonably good modeled movement (considering how smooth some of the moves are).

Had to hit up gamefaqs for some translations for the menus and stuff, but after that its been smooth sailing.

Well, that's what a lot of us first assumed, but after seeing a decent amount on Ebay, and a few in collector's hands, I have never seen one that doesn't have a brighter lid. It is starting to make me think that Sega might just have used a more expensive, nicer looking lid for the Sonic Saturn. Its just weird how every single one that has popped up has that brighter lid.

The system is nevertheless, beautiful :P

Here's a picture of the Saturn in question (this one isn't Carey's, it's a similar one pulled up from eBay) for anyone that's interested.

http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/06/53/27/be_3.JPG

How much did it set you back? The one that's up at the moment is already at $120AUS.

I spent over $200 on games yesterday. Couple this with the Sydney plane tickets ($500 return) and my Japan fund is looking a tad sickly. Anyways! These are both retro and new, since there are some ports and newies and I can't be bothered posting in two seperate threads.

The Retro

Toejam & Earl for Mega Drive, boxed - $7
Super Castlevania IV for SNES, loose - $7
Wave Race 64 for N64, complete and minty - $10
Breath of Fire IV for PSX, ex-rental and complete - free! (I LOVE YOU CHRIS!)
The Granstream Saga for PSX, complete - $20
Adventures of Alundra (YAY) for PSX, complete - $15

Newer Stuff

Popolocrois for PSP, complete - $50
The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion, complete - $50

Both of those games haven't even been released in Australia yet, so you can imagine my surprise when I walked into the games store and saw them alongside Darkstalkers and other similar PSP games!

Yoshi's Universal Gravitation for GBA, brand new - $35
Columns Crown for GBA, complete - $40 (SEQUEL TO COLUMNS! EEE)

Birthday Swag

Complete boxed Mega Drive 1!!! This was once again thanks to the wonderful Ezri and Almighty Bean
A new Sonic book for my collection plus one I already had

I like the profile - it's slightly stylised but not overly so (like the awkward looking N64). Enough to make more than just 'another white box'.

And yeah, I realise the controller's not for everyone, but I find it comfortable and I like the look of it. Unique and pretty (especially in translucent colours).

Check that they're not Asian pirate carts . Genuine JP Megadrive games have the Megadrive logo on the spine of the cover (red M with a green D). It's just that the games on your list are some of the most common Asian pirate carts I have seen over the years (they never have instructions, and the pictures on the insert and cart stickers usually appear very slightly stretched and blurred ). These carts are usually shaped like standard Japanese Megadrive carts , but occasionally they are shaped like Pal Megadrive carts. There are quite a few of these floating around in Australia as many video rental stores used to carry them . Golden Axe 2 is another common one.

The console is definitely Nintendo manufactured. It has however been packaged and distributed by a third party company (most like for Asian territories).

I once came across a NES marked 'Asian Model' and packaged in a similarly alternate fashion.

Depends where you are regarding Hang On. The Euros only got the card as a pack-in (or something like that) so they never got it with a box/manual, whereas Aus got a standalone release. Long story short; euro completists sometimes pay a fair bit for an Aus copy but i suspect that particular auction is a tad optimistic to say the least.

There are quite a few of these floating around in Australia as many video rental stores used to carry them . Golden Axe 2 is another common one.

Hahaha! You're a clever bastard aren't you. From your description they are indeed pirated carts. I don't really mind though, I have most on Pal but just wanted to try my converter. The bloke wouldn't sell them seperately so I bought the lot.

I've actually never come across pirated carts before and thought that they looked a little odd when I bought them :shady:. I'm kinda happy I've got em though. ;)

Anywho moving on. Yesterday I recieved in the mail Golden Axe the duel and Shinobi for the Saturn. Both complete, Jap and LEGIT! Haha. I also got Powerstone 2 and Virtua Tennis 2 complete for the DC. :-D

Today I popped into Harvey Norman and they are still trying to get rid of Nintendo and N-gage stuff from when they took over Myer MegaMart.

Anyway I grabbed for $10 each
GCN - Waverace : Blue Storm
N-gage - Splinter Cell
N-gage - SonicN
N-gage - Super Monkey Ball
N-gage - Puyo Pop @ $5

Also I was at K-Mart yesterday and I noticed they were starting to sell about 30 X-box titles as CLEARANCE items, meaning they do not intend to stock them again. Ranging roughly in price from $15-70.
And also a large number of GBA titles were marked as clearance.

I saw those N-Gage games at Harvey Norman Chadstone last weekend. My question was, where did they find them? Must have been buried in the stock room somewhere, I reckon. Unfortunately I already own all of them. :)
I guess the N-gage counts as retro now seeing as it is no longer supported in the Oz market.

My latest aquisiton - GBA original console - $60 - Retravision Footscray - cheers to Chilli for the heads up on that one.
Also Pokemon Crystal - GBC - $5 - cart only (I just wanted something to play!)
Waiting for a copy of Pokemon Emerald to arrive too.
Arrived yesterday as well -
Saturn -
Daytona USA
Command & Conquer
Need for Speed
Simcity 2000 (which is possibly the worst version of the game I have ever seen - almost unplayable!)

Mega Drive -
Zombies (hooray!)
Flashback
Decap Attack
Dune 2 (In german - don't ask!)

And
Dreamcast-
Daytona USA (this one is very interesting, given I don't own a dreamcast, but it was only $20)

Another Where's Sonic Now book
A complete minty boxed 32x!

I'm almost up to 300 games, so what do I decide to do? Start playing Morrowind. Must... keep... playing... ;-)
It was above $100, heh, but not that much higher than $100.

$100 USD dollars of course. Not Crazy Australian currency.

Were those N-Gage games $5 at all Harvey Norman's or just one in particular/a particular state. You've got me interested to say the least and if I could amass a decent selection of games for cheap I'll definitely think of buying it (my concern was that I wouldn't be able to get the games I actually want, like those you've mentioned).

Otherwise, were there many left, many other titles that you passed on?

Chilli
01-03-2006, 11:47 PM
There wasn't many other titles and only a few left all up.

They're from the Harvey Norman in Sunshine (Melb) that used to be a Myer Megamart.

I think each store would be different as I've been popping into this one quite frequently just waiting for the price to drop and grabbing a little each time it does - kind of like a circling shark. :evillaug:

All of the remaining ones were $10, only Puyo Pop was $5.

I got Gunbird for the Saturn the other day complete (although no spine card but I don't count that crap) for $20. I hadn't played this but was keen to have a go after getting the sequal on the DC. They are such similar games that it is almost like buying more levels rather than a new game. Some of the music from the original is re-used on it's successor and the style is exactly the same. Lucky I love Gunbird then. :D

Yesterday I went to 9 or 10 garage sales.

The first one I went to started at 7.30am and I got there around 8.15 and saw a boxed SNES and asked if there were any games to go with it and apparently I missed out. Some bloke had been there earlier and grabbed around 12 boxed games. That's what you get for sleeping in with garage sales.
I didn't ask what the titles were I was already too upset... & tired.

I went to the rest of them and only found some Star Wars novels, and not one cactus.

The very last garage sale didn't look too promising with crappy kids clothing, school books and glass jars spread over tables and tarps along the drive way.
But as I got closer to the the garage which was roped off I spied a white box with blue lettering... ATARI. *YAY*
I asked the woman how much for the box, and I literally meant the box not really expecting there to be anything in it other than crap similar to the rest of the stuff they had strewn all over the place.
She said I'm not sure if it's for sale, I'll have to ask my husband.
He came out of the house and said in a gruff voice " WADDYA WANT ?"
I pointed to the box, and he said "REALLY ?, Are you sure ?"
He went into the garage and said "Let me get this stuff out of here, I'll spread it out on the table so you can have a look"
To my amazement he started to pull out disc's and manuals and the keyboard for the Atari 1040STe and said hang on there's more than went and grabbed another box that had Commodore 64 parts and a dotmatrix printer.
I asked how much.
He looked at the pile, ummed and uhhed for a bit then said " Does five bucks sound fair ? "
I said "yeah okay" and quickly packed it all away and carried it out to my car.

Now my girlfriend is pretty understanding about me hoarding games, but this huge pile of old crap would have been pushing it too far. :nono:
I've got it all hidden out in the garage and plan to slowly bring it inside over the next week or so, give it a good clean and see if I can get it fired up.

I own the MegaDrive version and a quick google search for images of the Super Nintendo version suggest to me, in some very lazy research, that they differ.

My understanding is that the MegaCD version is the MegaDrive game with batmobile segments. So, MegaCD collectors, my local pawn shop has a copy in excellent condition (no marks on CD, crisp manual, light marks on case) for $20. Good buy?

this was the case with many games during the 16bit era, as the megadrive and snes hardware was so drastically different porting games was by no means as simple as it is today. So companys would just make essentially entirely new games with the same name.

Yes you are magic i did pay $87.09 and the reason i didnt post how much i paid is because everyone will say that its too much and they would wait for it to show up in the wild. As for Cruzway why do you think he's a jerk i have bought lots of games off him and i have never had a problem with him.

Amy you said in the auction house that you were selling some consoles before you move would one of them happen to be a Dreamcast, if so i might be interested.

Yes you are magic i did pay $87.09 and the reason i didnt post how much i paid is because everyone will say that its too much and they would wait for it to show up in the wild.
Well then say that. Not posting the price just means we'll end up assuming that it was a lot of money, but if you feel it's justified - then more power to you. If it's a game you really want, you have have the money to spend and mintness is your penchant - then by all means.
I honestly dont think you would ever find something this good in the wild anymore because everybody seems to be scouting for games these days.
Yeah, because all these nice mint/rare games are on eBay because someone's willing to pay $87 for it. :-P

I wasn't showing you up or anything, I was just genuinely curious if that Harvest Moon on eBay was the one you bought. No hard feelings? :)

Nah, I'm not selling any of my Sega consoles, and I doubt I'll sell more than 5 of the games. It's a story I'm sure everyone's heard before, but I found my DC on the side of the road one day, and it's sticking with me. We have too much history for me to let go now! :D

Something on another forum that I'm not going to detail. For what it's worth, he's too big for his boots.

I must admit if you contact outside of EBay his BIN prices are way over the top but i think $87 for a mint game that very very rarely comes up anywhere is justified as it would cost me a hell of alot more if i bought this at GT and finding something in the wild would have the same odds as lotto.

Damn, i know what you mean though my DC is slowly dying and its breaking my heart.

Addressing Ezri now as for paying $87 i would of liked to of payed alot less than that but unfortunately i dont like owning a game unless its complete and close to mint thats just me and unfortunately it always costs me alot more for my SNES games i still pickup N64 games for cheap $20 mint Banjo Tooie anyone.Once again didnt mean to seem harsh.

It was Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaioh (N64 version of Bangai-O ). With EMS shipping and the (at the time) bad exchange rate it worked out at approximately $148 AUD. Ive seen copies going for less recently. Mine's perfectly minty of course.

I was thinking it had to be Japanese, the better exchange rate has definately made importing easier now if they could just lower shipping costs.

How does it compare to the Dreamcast version?

How does it compare to the Dreamcast version? Well the DC version is the same game with more explosions and nicer graphics. However I actually found the background detail in the DC version distracting. So I prefer the N64 version - but thats just my personal taste. Besides anything on a cart is automatically better isnt it?

Ezri
25-03-2006, 02:29 PM
My problem with the N64 version is the controls - you really need both the d-pad and joystick in the DC version, and the N64 version lacks that flexibility.

Plus it's prettier.

Also, anything on a CD is automatically better.....RIGHT! :-P

Do you still want Kings Quest whatevernumberitis my sweet? PM me your address again. Also, you can't send me Fatal Fury 2 because I'm moving and it will arrive here and Steve will take it for himself. Nyah. :P (If you really want to do a trade, tell me in the PM.) Since it was the Genny Bubble & Squeak (I kept the PAL one), it wouldn't have worked unless you had an import enabler. I hope that soothes the sting a little!

Also, Laz, dammit, it's the American version, so it's not Garou! It's Fatal Fury! Not that it really matters, I'm still very jealous.

As for recent purchases, my 'collection' has taken a dive by 40 games. Stupid moving. I wanted to keep everything, but I desperately needed to cull a bunch of stuff. However, I've still got over 100 games I still haven't completed, so maybe this will give me a little time to get cracking on them. If it counts, I got the FFIV GBA port for free (complete and minty)? I also got Kula World for the PSX, but stupidly traded it in, even though I knew what it went for on eBay. My morals confuse even myself. I really could have used the money.

Yeah I would check for myself.

The one and only time I ever called Cash Convertors myself, was to see if about 15 or so Saturn games I'd seen there about a week earlier were still for sale:

Me: "Hi! Do you still have any Sega Saturn games? I saw a pile of them last week there."
Clerk: "What? Saturn? What?"
Me: "Sega....Saturn.......they have their name on the box."
Clerk: "Nah, nothing like that. Sorry."
Me: "Ok bye."

I then went there myself the next day, and lo and behold, they're all still there.

Moral of the story, most store clerks are ignorant and lazy and if you want a job done right you do it yourself.

Well I called back later and a different guy answered... I asked him and he actually went and checked, said it was still there so I asked him to put it on hold. I got down there and it was still in the cabinet >.<

Least my items on hold at another cashies were still there. If only I could get these damn snes converters to work ... actually I might make a thread about it...

EDIT: Damn these SNES games, why are heaps of rare, but don't seem rare games keep popping up. As well as Zero I picked up Blackhawk (Blachthorne) and Final Fight 2. I also saw this game but passed it http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SNES-Justice-League-Task-Force-Complete-V-RARE_W0QQitemZ8272348947QQcategoryZ112762QQcmdZVie wItem

It can't seriously be rare, least not to that extent can it? I had that when I was a kid and sold it to cashies (along with a 32x or 2 + a couple games... just so I could get Destruction Derby... oh god what was I thinking!), but I guess I haven't seen it since.

Sorry to be annoying with these rarity questions lately... if there's one thing that really annoys me is passing on a game and then later finding out it's super rare, even worse when I want to actually play it. SNES games I never normally have much luck with.
