Some of the old games of Wii VC look pretty scrappy, so I wouldn't even contemplate trying to play the old machines on a HD tv. ICK!!

Where'd you get Sonic DX from so cheap?

Cash Convertors. All the GC games at this particular store are $8 but aside from the sonics there wasn't that much of interest.

I got a few new things, Jogcon controller $3 and an unlicensed gameboy cart for $5 the highlights of which include a horizontal scrolling quarth clone and a very ordinary shmup. Kuru Kuru Kururin & Namco Museum $15 each bit expensive but that's gametraders. I think the Kururin sequel cost me less new and in the box :(

Finally a pair of MS games $5 cart only Captain Silver and Shadow Dancer. I hate getting cart only stuff especially for ms/md etc but oh well, Beggars can't be choosers.

Bagged myself three games off eBay for N64 - Goldeneye, Mario 64, Super Smash Bros.

Then the Seller found a copy of Banjo-Kazooie lying around and threw that in for free.

Cleaned up the N64 today, plugged it into the new Lo Def LCD small screen TV I got for my birthday, and the whole set up looks sweet.

Got NHL 96 (cart only)for 10 bucks and Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (cart and book with passwords!)for 20, both inc postage off eBay.

How flippin' hard is Empire, I mean, FOOK! I have to try the easier difficulty.

A cricket teammate is dropping me off 5 or so games tomorrow, from his sadly failed we-flog-your-stuff-on-ebay business. Buggered if I know what they are. Come on, Chrono Trigger! :)

Lots of stuff this month. Streets of Rage, Forgotten Worlds & Zillion 2 Master System $5 Each

On Mega Drive Bloodshot was free, Captain America & Strider II cart only $5 each. Earthworm Jim 2, Ghouls & Ghosts, Outrun 2019, Ranger X, Splatterhouse 2 & Truxton all $6 each. Bubba N Stix & Chiki Chiki Boys $10 each. Couple of pads worked out around $25-30 for the two. Samurai Spirits, Castlevania Bloodlines and Mega Man Wily Wars were all around $30 each. The price for Mega Man was pretty good but sadly the cart manual and box have all been molested. It did come from a Wynnum video store after all.

Couple of SNK gameboy ports there as well Samurai Shodown 3 and Real Bout Fatal Fury for $20-25 each. Love the boxes they look like they should have candy in them. Finally picked up a beaten and abused GBA SP for $35 it's the first model with a rubbish screen. Also got Astro Boy GBA cart only $10 but forgot to add it to the pic.

Some good finds there. Man, mega drive games really do have some of the ugliest covers ever.

Don't really consider myself a collector of "retro games", but seeing as I never stop purchasing games for pretty much any console I own, I could be considered a retro enthusiast. But I only buy them to play, not to hoard.

Anyhow recently picked up,
N64 Blast Corps $6 / Ebay with no box etc

you just can't say no to a boxed copy of sam and max! i'm sure i horde the things! never found a totally mint one though.

i bought a game.com on ebay the other week.

i don't know if anyone remembers them but they were an early touch screen + internet capable (with the addition of a giant external modem) portable system by tiger electronics. from 1997. i'm pretty sure they never made it to australia but i remember wanting one SO bad when they were first announced. It came with some crappy puzzle game. they whole system is pretty crap actually but it's an interesting relic and it satisfies my residual childhood gadget lust.

i'll post pictures at some point. it's mint in box.

(and it's pretty funny - in the included 'games and accessories' brochure they advertise the modem add on. it's literally just a fat 56k beige external modem with 'game.com' written on it)

I remember the game.com . Saw one when I was in the States as a kid. Seeing the likes of Duke Nukem 3D and Resident Evil 2 on the system made me want it badly. So glad I passed!

What I wonder is how much they would have got when they sold the url?

Yep, I bought a game.com with RE2 as part of my Resident Evil obsessive compulsive disorder. As of this week I now have 72 RE games.

Nemesis and R-Type DX for Game Boy. Aerostar from ebay as well, but that hasn't arrived yet.

To get money to buy the first two, I sold some games into a Cash Converters. Some SMS games and (crap) GBA games that weren't worth much along with a few DS games. When I got home I realized that two of the DS games were still on my shelf, lol. I sold them a couple of boxes and they didn't even check.

New stuff: Street Fighter & Darius 2 JPN MD $20 each, Jewel Master, Syndicate & General Chaos JPN version for $18 which is great considering that version of General Chaos is $90US at play asia and cheapest on ebay was $70AUD.

Golden Sun GBA $8 and for $10 some GBA flash card that takes a mini SD so when I get an adapter for the MSD format I should actually be able to fit every GBA game I own which is more then I can say for the last shitty GBA flash card I got which wouldn't even save and was all-round useless.

Granstream Saga ex-rental $1, Sanvein $2 from st vinnies, Granstream Saga is a really good game imo so that's a sweet find.

Kururin Squash $12, Mario Brothers Deluxe boxed and in good shape $20

At cash convertors I found Zelda OOT boxed in crap shape for $15. I don't like Zelda or have a 64 but Gametraders want $50 for a ripped up cart-only copy so if I never get around to it I can at least get back what I paid. I should have picked up the 2 mystical ninja games that were there though. They were gone when I went back a few days later, but mischief makers was still there so I'll probably grab that & an N64 later on in the week.

And of course, it's only now that I discover that FFVIII doesn't work on PAL PS3s at all. /wrists.

I've come into 2 Game and Watches - unknown if they're working, will get some batteriest to test - Fire and Turtle Bridge. They're both reasonable condition. They've got battery covers, TB has a lot of marks on the back, they've both got a bit of dirt but a good clean and they'd be in pretty good nic.

Really interested in what these are worth though? There is one of each on ebay, but they're boxed/complete in good nic for $350 and $200 (Fire and TB respectively)... not a good price guide for these though.

I'm sure i've still got my old Master System around here somewhere. On top of my fairly decent collection of games, I bought about 40 more from a mate in the early years of high school. I should drag it out just for kicks... although emulators and being able to just 'playemall' on my PSP makes me wonder why i'd bother.

Which actually brings me to a question;

Why do you guys bother going through the hassle and expense of buying these retro titles when roms have made it so simple to not bother? Sure there's a legal or even moral issue surrounding roms, but considering these games are so old now that they would contribute nothing to the profits earned by the 'industry', why should that matter?

Marble
06-09-2009, 07:46 AM
I generally prefer to play home console games on a TV because it looks so much better than on a computer monitor. That and controllers, it's difficult to get them and arcade sticks working with most emulators. Oh, and some emulators/roms have input lag (Which is unacceptable if you play the kind of games I do).

I must say, people who collect old games for the hell of it actually piss me off. It sucks when you just want to play some game, and the price is hell inflated because a bunch of dudes all decided they absolutely needed it to sit on their shelf (and play it for like, 20 minutes).

Console with controllers easily beats computer keyboard when it comes to console games.
I'm trying to track down a copy of Secret of Evermore. Gametraders Highpoint have a boxed copy for $89. This makes me cry, as it's was one of my favourite SNES games when I was a little tyke.

Anyway, also bidding on a copy of Vagrant Story. I also have copies of Amplitude and Shadow of the Colossus on their way. (don't think those count as retro just yet, though)

SS is lining them up... and hitting them out of the park!

Ok, so you guys don't like roms because you want to play the games on a console... but surely if you had no ambition to be a collector and just wanted to re-live your childhood by playing the games, it'd be MUCH easier to do so with a last gen console with an emulator. No?

I commend the dedication you guys have, I just think it's a little silly to have to 'hunt' these titles down and pay a fortune for some of them just for nostalgia's sake.

Marble
06-09-2009, 12:38 PM
LOL, who gives a **** about nostalgia. You see, unlike most people , I don't play shitty modern day 3D platform collect-a-thons, grind fests or games with absurdly huge life bars, infinite lives and respawn points every other step, so in order constantly be playing better games, I need to play old ones.

Of course there's still good games coming out (mostly from arcades, naturally) but the ratio is lower than it used to be. I mean, I am really looking forward to my copy of ESPgaluda ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jauW76lJ6E ) arriving.

I can't do emulation on any of the consoles I own. I am not buying another console with a pair of arcade sticks. Converters have input lag, which may not be an issue if you are playing a JRPG or some crap, but in fighting games with tight combos and STGs bullets are flying at you and just one hit will kill you, it's important.

Marble; likes the old stuff better than the new stuff. ;)

I mainly got a DC because essentially I was a kid when it came out, and could really only afford one console, so I chose PS2. So for me, buying a DC was more of seeing what I missed, rather than nostalgia.

I love SNK fighters, so seeking out a Neo Geo AES was something I always wanted to do. Really expensive though. $400-500 console, then anywhere between $30-$600 per cart. Totally worth it though as its essentially like having the arcade machine at home. Its just unfortunate that nobbled ports for the substantially weaker SNES and Mega Drive meant that SNK didn't get the respect they deserved.

I guess part of the thrill is the hunt. I think Ezri mentioned something similar aaaaaaaages ago. But there's a great sense of satisfaction in finding that old hard to find classic for a good price.

Kasplatza Red
08-09-2009, 10:44 AM
Well to be honest, a lot of the games I"m buying are older titles I wish I played when I was younger, but never got the chance to (ie- Vib Ribbon and Bishi Bashi Special)
Most of the time, if it's available on Virtual Console or XBLA, I'll get it via that because older forms of media ARE unreliable when compared to digital copies (I'm looking at yoooou, dead LttP Cartridge!). I don't buy games to collect them, I buy 'em to play.
There is something nice about owning the actual cartridge, though. Sure, I -could- download a ROM of Secret of Evermore (and I have!), but I want the original replaced, because mum lent it to one of my friends ages ago and he lost it. :(

Heh based on my collection people may call me a retro collector.

But really all I did was buy things when they came out and never got rid of them!

I like buying some retro titles in compilations or DLC nowadays though because the older consoles and their controllers are unreliable (My Megadrive controllers are wonky), the graphics have usually been cleaned up for newer TVs (no fuzzy graphics via composite cables or yuk RF) and the addition of save states helps the modern day busy/lazy gamer (Wait you mean I died and have to start the WHOLE game again?) get through the game with a minimum of frustration.

I still love my old systems and get them out from time to time but I love how modern tech lets us experience some of those old gems with a gloss of fresh paint over the top.

Doesn't MAME with a decent stick produce a better experience than a Neo-Geo nowadays? But I can totally understand the hunt and having something physical over a rom.

The only difference between MVS carts (arcade) and AES carts (home) is the slot. You physically can't plug one into the other. The contents of the cart are essentially the same.

So an AES home cart would be the same experience as a ROM dump of an MVS/AES cart. Apart from MAME's video filter options (boo!) there's no difference.

Decent stick would be nice though. However I plan to do my own custom job... someday.

Love ESWAT !!!! Superb.

And ofcourse Shinobi and Shinobi 3.

Havnt played most of the yet, but there is plenty of others there that I look forward to playing although it will be a while. Generally I like to exhaust a game fully before I move onto the next.

Dont like the side scrolling beat ups, although Streets of Rage 3 is fun for a while with 2 players. Back in the day I used to like Double Dragon and a few of the others but dunno unlike alot of other titles they dont seem to have aged very well gameplay wise.

I left the cart alone and clipped the corner bits in the top shell of the Mega Drive II, tight fit but you can squish JAP / US games in there and most of them work just fine. But I might try hacking off the sides of the couple foreign carts I still have.

It sure looks funny going from squish city (us jap cart) to one of those tall thin EA PAL carts with the silly yellow chunk in the left side (that does nothing, but makes the EA carts looks different)

A fair few game still don't work on a PAL unit though so it pays to do your homework before importing Genesis carts

been lurking about for a while, love this thread and have started collecting mega drive a little while ago.

decided to start with the mega drive since i owned a nes, snes, n64 growing up and have played them to the absolute death... when i grew up none of my mates had a mega drive (some had SMS though), we all had the nes and later the snes.... so i figured i'd give it a crack and have been picking stuff up here and there.

the plan is to only keep about 3 games out at a time so i arent chopping and changing every 20mins! none of my mates are into retro gaming sadly, otherwise id try and have a night a week to play through them with beers. that would be awesome, but for now i guess i can run through them solo. eventually i hope to complete most of them i guess.

has been a busy month, here are my most recent acquisitions (all boxed, most with manuals).

landstalker $23
ghouls n ghosts $7
splatterhouse 2 $7
thunderforce 4 $20
castlevania the new generation $20
ecco 2 $10
rock n roll racing $8
sword of vermillion $12
another world $9
roadrash $7
roadrash 3 $9

I have got about 55-60 games so far now, and looking to get about another 40 or so to make it 100. only collecting boxed games so makes it a bit tougher.

currently on the hunt for shinobi series/strider on the cheap and probotector (not so cheap though)... megaman would be nice too but its so expensive that i think i can live without it to be honest.

Battletoads is insane, but nothing compared to the SNES Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. My mate could never even beat it with action replay + unlimited lives / continues, and he was freakishly good at impossible games. That was the only one I've seen him fail to beat

Check out ebay.co.uk

They have Revenge of Shinobi and Shadow Dancer boxed on MD for around 5 GBP each (not including postage).

Just checked calculation, works out around $15 per game, compared to same game from ebay.com.au for $20 (all are PAL)

Top Photo: Standard PAL SEGA Saturn controller, Japanese style controller, USB controller modelled on Japanese Saturn controller.

This controller arrived yesterday fresh from the fields of ebay. It's advertised as being a Sega Saturn style USB controller for PS3. You can use it for that, but it's a bit average for fighting games and better suited to playing OTHER
2D games on the PC, which is what I bought it for - I prefer the MD/Saturn style 6 buttons over the dual shock for playing things on the PC.

Anyhow, I grabbed it off ebay for $20 not expecting much (from Hong Kong) and it turns out it's a pretty bloody good controller.

Sat down last night and tried over 20 games with it, and it was near perfect for playing old 2D games on, platformers, scrolling beat 'em ups etc.

The shell is modelled on the old Japanese Sega Saturn controller. (See the top photo) and it's very light weight. The buttons are really smooth and responsive, the D-pad is actually BETTER than both of my actual Saturn controllers in the top photo. The colour is pretty fruity, but I like it because it's different. The Start button is good, it's comfortable to hold but the L and R buttons are complete shit. Which is no concern seeing as I have no use for those buttons on the old games I play with it.

I've played a LOT of games on various Mega Drive and Saturn controllers over the years, and this is my new favourite one to use.

And the cord is a fairly decent length. There are no drivers etc, you just plug it in the USB port and it works as any controller / joystick would.
*Don't ask me if it works on a MAC, that box art is from HK - would YOU trust it? But I'll test it on my mate's mac when I'm over there next month and see if it's compatible.

I'm still going to pick up another USB adapter so I can use my PS2 controllers on PC again, just for certain games that suit it. But 90% of stuff I'll be using this 'retro' controller for. Damn it's good for $20! I may even buy a second one, because I'm a hoarder and you never know when something may come in handy.

It's a Japanese console that has been modified. All the game from what I can tell are japanese or copies of japanese. A little disappointed in the games (once I had a good look throught them) but I'm happy with the hardware.

What's the quickest way to learn japanese? lol

Intersting mentions at this point is "Nissan GTR Over Drivin" which is Need for Speed with Nissan GTR Skyline and Z models only.

And what the hell were the Japanese thinking when they released "Virtua Fighter Portrait Series" where the player gets to watch pictures of one of the Virtua Fighter characters and listen or sing to the "awsome" (not) background music. I know there are strange japanese games but I'm pretty sure this one wins hands down for weirdness.

Off to play Dodompachi now =)

As I posted two and a half years ago in the Retro Nut (http://www.hyper.com.au/forums/showpost.php?p=660259&postcount=42) thread, this has been one of my holy grails. Wonder If this will count as a retro purchase as it's a fairly new item.

Just bought a Super Nes flash cart for a whopping $140.
It's from those same guys who made the NES cart everyone was raving about for a while about a year ago.
I wonder why there's been little fan-fare for the snes cart? Probably because they didn't bother putting any of the special chips into it.

Still considering buying a switched console from here

http://consolepassion.co.uk/

FYI - They sell modified versions of every major retro console - allowing you to play carts/CDs from all regions etc. Expensive, but the only cheaper way is doing it yourself.

Then games would run in real time (60 HZ) instead of slow motion (50 HZ)

Lovely game. I know it was released on PAL too, my mate used to rent it when he wasnt playing Secret of Mana.

I recently watched Mysterious Cities of Gold with my kids and was surprised at how much Illusion of Time seemed to have 'borrowed' from the show.

Well I've been using this USB controller thingo (with the purty colours) for several months now on the PC with emulators etc and it's held up pretty well.

It still works great, and I've decided to buy some more of them to keep as spares (seeing as they are only $20), and because I tried playing SFIV on PS3 this week with it and it was good for that too. It's a little fiddly not having a "PS logo / power on" button, but you just have to have it plugged in BEFORE you turn the machine on and make sure your wirless PS3 controller is not turned on etc.

I'm also going to pick up an arcade stick for SF, but this controller is the best I've used since using my old Saturn controller many years ago too many hours SF Alpha 2 for decent accuracy etc.
Found the USB controller good for Samurai Showdown IV on PC too. Perfect for playing Streets of Rage remake too.

My Rant on the Blaze Mega Drive (**the Kmart / aussie version)

Well I went out and bought a Blaze Mega Drive at Kmart, and while I already own 3 PAL mega drives, I don’t own a modded machine and figured the Blaze MD would be a cheap was to play my NTSC games like my Japanese Bare Knuckle III at normal / 100% speed, instead of in slow motion on my PAL mega drive.

I’ve read several favorable reviews of the Blaze mega drive, and noted that it has a region switch for swapping from NTSC / PAL so it should run games at proper speed etc.

Here is what happened when I loaded up a PAL Streets of Rage 2 on the Blaze MD – the logo for “bare knuckle 2” came up. Despite this being the PAL version of SOR 2, well SOR 1+2 are actually the same game in each territory the code for the logos for the Japanese/Pal title screen is in each cartridge. Only SOR3 was released as two different actual games.

Anyway, PAL SOR 2 loaded up with the NTSC title screen, and then played EVEN SLOWER than the normal PAL game, which was already slow to start with.

Let’s say the JAP version of SOR2 has 100% / Normal

PAL version has like 90% speed (‘normal’ for PAL)

The same game on the Blaze ran at about 70% speed. Barely playable, just crap.

So I read the manual, to see where the region switch is – turns out the manual lists it as No.8 on the machine diagram, but lo and behold – the switch is not present on the back.
Look like the machine is set to NTSC mode, with no way to change it, your PAL games will play – but expect SLOW DOWN, even more than normal. (EDIT: I have no idea WHY, PAL games running in NTSC mode should be FASTER, not slower - well that's what happens on a REAL mega drive anyways).

So it does not have the region switch, also, you only get 2 out 3 AV leads – meaning 1 for picture and 1 for sound, so you only get ONE channel of stereo sound.

I’m sure the company has some reason why they took out the region switch, but I can’t help but wonder if it was just cost cutting. Anyway, the version of the Blaze MD we have here is pretty darn crap. The controllers are god awful as well; I wouldn’t even let a second player or my dog use them. On second thoughts my dog might like the crap controllers as a dangerous chew toy, for when the ordinary ones get boring.

However, the machine does work fine with the built in 15 games - an average, but not great - selection of games that include

-Alien Storm
-Altered Beast
-Gain Ground
-Alex Kidd
-Arrow Flash
-Columns
-Crack Down
-Sonic and Knuckles
-Bonanza Brothers
-Eswat
-Golden Axe
-Fatal Labyrinth
-Flicky
-Decap Attack
-Shadow Dancer

Features:

-2 out of 3 AV cords
-2 Six button crap controllers all hard and plasticy, both missing the ‘mode’ button from your official SEGA 6-button controllers
-Nice tidy unit that almost fits in your pocket
-Power pack reduced to about half of the old bulky SEGA one
-NO REGION SWITCH! (despite being listed in the manual)
-VERY hard to insert games in/out of the cartridge slot, think I may have scratched the edges of my PAL games taking them out again. That alone is a big FAIL. The slot is also not wide enough for JAP games, PAL games barely fit in.

I know this product is for noobs / casuals and the nostalgic weekend warrior, (no offense intended!) and not really aimed at me or collectors and such. The product works fine, but to me it’s just so inferior it’s not funny.

If you care at all about decent controllers and sound quality, I’d recommend a cheap mega drive off ebay along with an AV cord (Red/White/Yellow for proper stereo sound) rather than the Blaze MD.

I’m still considering ordering an AMERICAN version of the machine – with the region switch – but if that one is missing proper stereo sound I may as well just buy a modded MD from the UK like I originally planned.

Apart from the modern DLC version, the carts are better play this on imo.

Try MK3/UMK on SNES vs PS1. PS1 is more 'accurate', but has horrendous loading times, then on SNES no load times, it's much more enjoyable to play. Same deal with that WWF fighting game where the Undertaker has crazy projectiles and big combos.

THe SNES version is missing two characters, but's it's the still the best version (not counting MAME).

Those two are indeed in the SNES UMK3, check out gamefaqs.com for some details.

No matter what version of MK3 you play the A.I. is cheap and unforgiving (some would say broken), which is why it's better to play on the easier difficulties.

If you think that is challenging though stay away from the endurance matches in Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PS1).

Even my friend who was insanely good at all the old MK games gave up in that one, as did I.

It's all timing, some months you find loads of bargains, other months you find sweet-F-all. Check in from time to time and you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you can find.

And if you're patient, you can usually get almost anything cheaper than you anticipated.

My mege-collection has not grown in recent months on account of unemployment, but I have picked up the SEGA MD Collection.

Currently playing Landstalker and Story of Thor action RPGs on my sexy MD2.

Thinking of getting a controller extension cable too (for MD) they go for about $6 on various ebays, but often you get a better deal on postage if you but two. They are about 1-2 metres in length generally, rather useful imo.

That link is the same controller I bought. When you buy one send an ebay msg to the seller telling them which colour you want.
Different seller name, but I'd say going by the listings that some are the same seller / outlet with a different user name etc.

I mention this because when I bought one the seller asked me what I wanted, and was really helpful - the white one looks unique and cool imo, but I don't mind the grey ones.

Had a quick browse on ebay at other listings - doesn't matter too much which seller you go with - all the SS USB controllers listed are the same product. The SEGA font is a non-issue, I'm pretty sure they are ALL pirate, including my one, which happens to be one of the best controllers I've ever used. FYI - ALWAYS check seller feedback etc first, even if their rating is high.

The build quality is good, I absolutely must buy another one, maybe two seeing as I like them so much. It's not like SEGA is out there selling controllers these days, so I don't think anyone is getting ripped off. It's possible the shells may even be old SEGA stock, or have come from the same factory. I'm just guessing here, the quality is just so good it makes me wonder.

The buttons are nice, the D-pad is nice, the L and R buttons are a bit crap (still usable) - but the only thing they would not suit is a fighting game (just the L an R buttons I mean), however you already have six face buttons, which covers every fighting game ever so it's a non-issue.

The best use imo though is pretty much anthing 2D / 8 or 16 bit on emulators, perfect for Megadrive and SNES games, so nice to play games like SORage 3 with the proper layout instead of a bloody keyboard.

FYI - It WILL also work on your PS3, but seeing as there is no select or "PS" (power) button, it's only useful for some games, but not most. You could play a fighting game with no issue, any game where you don't need to press select etc, but generally I recommend it for PC/emu use not so much PS3 (there are better options for PS3 eg arcade sticks or other 3rd party wireless controllers). I've played Sega MD Collection on PS3 with the controller, but seeing as there is no select button, there is no way to configure the buttons and so they are all mixed up, so um, don't use it with that game:rolleyes:

It will not work with 360, because of the lack of the "xbox logo button", so it can not be turned on.

But it's awesome for PC, grab one already.

I've been using mine semi-regularly for a few months now and it hasn't crapped out or anything, and the buttons etc are all still pretty much like new. I've been waiting to see if it wore out or anything, but it hasn't so I'll happily buy some more - keep some as backups and if I have several I can always cannabalise one down the line if something wears out (like in several years or whatever). Handy for 2P if you're into that of thing too.

Mischief Makers. What a peach of a game; I've still got it packed away deep in one of the games cupboards, waiting for a playthrough.

Wow, what a crazy price.

Still have not got around to playing my one. It's about my only motivation to buy a Wii, to play my unplayed Gamecube games on, including Skies.

Yeah it is crazy, i guess some people have money to blow.
Just the other day i saw a sealed copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day on N64 sell for $1000, i don't know if the bidder was joking or not though.....

You should get a Wii, the Gamecube had so many great games that shouldn't be missed. ;)

Yeah I was lucky the guy at Game Traders had only just got it, I go to the store all the time so I got a mega discount on it, plus it is NTSC so that bought the price down abit, yay for homebrew gecko loader.

Trying to build up my N64 collection again, wish i never got rid of it. I don't sell games anymore it's not worth it.

Got a few NES games off my friend (although they mostly suck) and bought a copy of Castlevania on ebay (snapped it up since it was the first one I'd seen in months that wasn't overpriced).

Guess this is 'retro': nabbed copies of Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Party 6 on GC from Cashies; $16 each, which I though was a bargain. Last time I went looking for MK DD online it was worth a fair bit more than that.

For $16 DD isn't a bad buy but in no means a classic when compared to other Mario Karts.

Well it's nearly retro atleast IMO. Anything that has no games in development is entering it's retro phase.

Mario Kart: DD for $16 is a pretty good buy.

4 controllers? Your next purchase needs to be Saturn Bomberman. Then some more controllers

*cough* I was playing that last night, I have access to the entire catalog thanks to the refurbishment. My girlfriend gave me two options for my birthday on the 12th. A Dreamcast pack or two years subscription to Hyper magazine. >.> I wonder which one the Hyper guys would recommend. :p

Ya, and A Boy and his Blob Wii, Batman Brave and the Bold and some other games. As for if its worth 140, prob not the same as any rare and hard to find game. Is it the best game on the GBC prob not, but as its a very good game, came out very very late in the GBC's life and has sort of garnered this huge sort of following in the last few years the price has gone up.

I'm enjoying it, its a nice little game, lots of love put into it, looks amazing, if only it had come out a few years earlier it may have made a big splash and gone onto to do good things for Wayforward.

Rediscovered my Megadrive in my parents' garage recently. Haven't really had the time to play anything yet, but looking forward to Landstalker. Also picked up Urban Strike for $15. The two games that came before it - Desert Strike and Jungle Strike - were two of my very favourite games back in the day, so hopefully this one holds up well.
