View Full Version : Stop Motion...
...quite possibly the worst you will ever see!
Was really, really, really bored last night. Decided to put together this little production with little to no effort at all.
Enjoy!

Big suprise... it's Zelda themed.
Edit - Probably should note, there was absolutely no plan with this at all. Just kinda of made it as a went. Saw pikachu on the floor and thought "hey!".
That was awesome! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v507/ultracrazy1/rofl.gif
I have the same Link figurine btw =]

Thanks :)
I had the original idea (stop motion featuring a live actor) a few years back, it eventually evolved into what you just saw. We made it over the course of two evenings, overall the shooting probably took about 5 or 6 hours. As you may notice, it's really hard to make running look natural when you've got to pause every few seconds to have your photo taken.
There are so many mistakes...
* At 0:46 you can see the discman and the alarm clock on the coffee table in the background
* At 0:56 you can see the hand of the person holding the laptop
* At 1:11 there's sellotape on the bed
* At 2:52 the webcam stops moving, then at 2:59 it appears next to the phone once the camera stops panning.
* From 3:09 onwards the mouse keeps moving in the shots with the laptop.
Still, I'm quite proud of it :) Stop motion is an absolute bastard, I'm never doing it again.

If I may ask, how many pictures - approx. or exact - did you use in the video?

Editing software....! Of course! *Wonders why the hell I hadn't thought of that...*
'The Adventures of Link' was funny, animation wasn't top notch but it's uniqueness was inspiring; the soundtrack was pretty sweet too. Good job.

I have a camera and feel like being creative. What, just lying around the house, ould I use to make some sort of animated short?
Twisted Conspiracy

Anything that has flexible moving parts that stays in place while you take a shot of it. Old toys; wrestling figurines work well; but I dunno if you'd have any lying around your house...;)
Modelling clay is good if you like that claymation stuff; though it gets a bit frustrating if you use lights (it heats up and starts contorting in you hands... bloody annoying)(---That's what I use anyway---)
That's all I can think of at the moment...
Good luck with your short :)

Anyone know of a good stop-motion program? (Preferably freeware...) Windows Movie Maker isn't really ideal...
Clockw0rk

Windows Movie Maker.
It's easy, just throw all the photos in and change the time they're on screen for to .05 of a second.
Twisted Conspiracy

But changing them all singularly is a pain... And they only go down to 0.15 of a second.
EDIT: Or am I missing something...?

I know it's possible to do a whole lot at once, I had the same problem so I searched the options and found it.
Can't remember where it is off the top of my head and I don't have movie maker on this PC, but I know it's there somewhere.

Just used Window Movie Maker (for the first time ever) after reading this thread. Made a crap slideshow thing, after uploading pics from my camera.
The file is saved as windows movie maker file ".MSWMM" type.
That type will not upload to anything to share it on youtube or photobucket or whatever.
So how the heck do you turn it into a file that you CAN share online?
There should be an option in the main menu to 'export as'

Thanks for the tip. Could not find any export as option (looked under every menu and advanced options). But then ran the movie wizard and it let me save it as *.WMV

Until I figure out how to embed shit with youtube / photobucket this ugly Mutha Fkn block will have to do.
Anyhow, just click on it and view my first ever crap attempt at making something with a digital camera slideshow.
Keep in mind
-First time using a camera to do this
-First time using windows media maker
-still don't know how to properly tag videos to appear in post properly
-spent like mayby 3 minnutes taking pics fast, hence jerky motion
-the lighting is crazy, because of the clouds outside the window
-you can see my hand in one of the frames
Will have another go this week and do something with more frames and less junk all over the desk thingy.... (hey, my saturn aint junk!)

So you're another of those Reptile Neo-Fetishists then, man you must have to look really hard to find the hardcore stuff online:rolleyes:, it's a bit of a niche, but you'll be a shoe-in with the kinky paleontologist types
