Couldn't find a thread that already takes the throne of Web-comics, so I decided to make it myself.

Tobias & Jube. (http://tnj.chickennation.com) Created by the very talented Patrick Alexander (Under the alias of Dot McSodden) this is randomness at its peak. Frequently hilarious if you are one of those people who refuse to grow up.

Pokekong - Using sprites from Pokemon & Donkey Kong games respectively, PokeKong depicts a young boy who gets stuck with Donkey Kong as his Pokemon. Sounds a bit childish, but the story sticks with making fun of Pokemon... Not trying hard to gain nerdy 10 year old viewers...

Finally in my list of favourite Web-comics is Penny arcade (http://www.pennyarcade.com). I'm sure many of you have looked into this brilliant parody of the videogame market. So there isn't much more to say...

If you have any Web-comics to share with the world (or just in the Hyper Forums is fine) discussion is now open>

Patrick Alexander... Jesus Christ. "Randomness at its peak"? Plucking inane phrases out of thin air and placing them within a frame does not result in comedy. Fourteen year old girls might 'LOL' at 'OMG bunny sez CAKE!', others... Do not.

While I hate the term "randomness", I quite like Patrick Alexander's humour. I even ripped him off in the Corrupt-A-Wish thread. www.eegra.com has some more for those who are interested.

I know story comics are generally a horrible waste of time, but I really enjoy Gunnerkrigg Court (http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/index2.php), and have also been reading Girl Genius. (http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/)

Normally I stick to the one-shot comics most have mentioned, like Penny Arcade and xkcd. I also really like A Softer World. (http://www.asofterworld.com/)

Oh, how very shocking and controversial.

You really can't go past XKCD for a great combination of intelligence and random humour. Questionable Content is an enjoyable read for the first couple of years if you're a fan of the light hearted drama/comedy thing but it's not so great these days given the lack of any overarching story.

There have been three story comics that I have read from the start: 8-bit Theatre (http://www.nuklearpower.com/latest.php) (MASSIVE WASTE OF TIME), Looking For Group (http://www.lfgcomic.com/) (KINDA WASTE OF TIME, OCCASIONALLY NOT) and MS Paint Adventures (http://www.mspaintadventures.com/) (PRETTY AWESOME)

Maybe I will do a post about comics that aren't regularly updating anymore, but used to be awesome. I wasn't always a regular reader of webcomics, but when I discovered how RSS feeds worked, it was too convenient to ignore.

Has anyone mentioned Dr McNinja (http://drmcninja.com/)? It has everything! A ninja who is a doctor, a gun-toting sidekick with an epic mo, a raptor, a gorilla, giant lumberjacks, pirates, alt text...

It's issue based, so it's hard to yank funny strips out of context, but it's definitely worth reading through earlier issues!

GARFIELD MINUS GARFIELD

http://9.media.tumblr.com/fSymsOGXOjl3f44yFewzFsdBo1_500.png

Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.

Applegeeks are releasing a graphic novel soon (184pages). Is it worth it? I suppose I could just read all the comics online but I'd rather ask to save me the trouble. Is it random like Penny Arcade or does it actually have a story like Megatokyo?

I'm still waiting for Megatokyo Vol6, I emailed the creator and didn't get a reply. Bastard. It probably won't happen and whilst the storyline was getting too slow and less funny (but I've been out of the loop since I prefer reading books) I still enjoyed looking at the artwork and extra bonus stuff.

I prefer to get MT's story in a big whack like the books. Trying to follow it piecemeal now is getting seriously confusing. Or maybe I just don't watch enough anime. The AG book I'm looking forward to for the same reason I look forward to other Webcomic books - the bonus stuff you don't get from reading the comic online. That and the way it looks on my bookshelf.

Also recommended is Get Your War On (http://www.mnftiu.cc/category/gywo/) and the related My New Fighting Technique is Unstoppable (http://www.mnftiu.cc/2007/12/14/000/).

The Penny Arcade book commentary makes many of the comics a lot easier to understand. I had no idea what they were talking about sometimes when I read them online

With MT what I used to do was download all the latest comics, save them to my HDD without looking at it and then read it using my image program and flick the scrollwheel to move onto the next page. Looks like I've missed the last 200 comics, crap :( I really don't think he's going to release another book though so I'm not sure what to do

What chapter is he up to, now? The book usually comes out every couple of chapters or something, so I don't think there won't ever be another MT book. It's just that at the rate this comic is moving right now my previous volumes will have decomposed by the time the next one comes out.

Could someone explain RSS feeds please???

Easy way to use RSS feeds:

http://www.google.com/reader

Basically, you go around subscribing to RSS feeds for webcomics, blogs, whatever. Then everytime a website is updated, it gets conveniently plonked down into your reading list, meaning that you don't need to check the actual website for updates - everything that you have subscribed to will update you via the RSS reader.

It looks a little something like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/_BM2_/RSS.png

Before figuring out how RSS feeds worked, webcomics were a bit of a pain to check regularly. RSS checks everything, simultaneously and continuously~! And you can share crap with your friends. This one is my shared items page. (http://www.google.com/reader/shared/09257846449809375763)
