Yeah managed to get a few races going after the early connection troubles.

SUV's/Pickup's around the Ring
Supercars around the Ring
4 Doors around Amalfi Coast
Drift contest with Trueno's round Fujimi Kaido

Just took a look at some of the replays. Looks incredible although I noticed that you can only see the interior replay from the car that you were driving, which is kinda lame.

Think I'll hold off capturing replays from any of tonight's races if that's cool. Might wait till we get some awesome paint jobs happening.

Anyway, hopefully next week we'll have some races planned out before we go racing. I know we planned to do the BMW race, but I think we were all over the ring after the first 2 races.

I love to do R1s around Le Mans :D

Who ran tonight?

Sucks to see there are still connection issues.

EDIT:

Speaking of drifting;

had to fire up Forza 2 to dig out my old tune.

HyperBLAU was hosting. Actually managed a full server at one point with BLAU, Trin, Clocky, Hiredman, xXAbsinthXx, Northy179, SeiferKatt and I.

As for next week, I guess my suggestion would be a lower PI tuned race (C or D class) around a smaller track (Sedona full perhaps). Lower PI so that everyone can actually buy, tune & paint their car.

We also did road racers (360 CS, GT3 RS etc) on Fujimi Kaido Circuit Rerverse before the SUV race, but you mightn't have been in the room by then.

I won the first 3 races (in a GT3 RS, Cayenne Turbo S and Carrera GT respectively, go Porsche!), bombed horribly in the 4 Doors Amalfi Race (stupid ****ing M5 :D) and didn't have a drift car set up for the last race so bailed. The supercar race round the ring was epic. After getting turned around off the line, managed to fight my way back from 8th for the win.

That was absolutely awesome fun guys. Once we got the game started the lag was almost non-existent, a nice change from Forza 2 which would usually struggle with any more than 4 in a room.

Shotgun both. :p

Thanks for the invite as well, I think it was Clockwork, but yeah, no Gold. Next week, though. Let's think up some D-C races, maybe a sedan one and a coupe one around a fun little track. We should do another 'ricer race', with Jap hatches, that was fun last time.

Well I was thinking that could be ran as two different* championships, and then the best 4 from each race at the end of the year.

(*in the event you can't make your designated time, but possibly the other, then you could request a spot and see if one is available).

I'm down with C-D comps, I wanna run my Fiesta with something at a similar level! I still need to do the tuning on it properly, but I think it will turn out very awesome. It weighs about 850kg and pulls around 100kW normally, then the turbo spools up at 5,000rpm and it reaches a bit over 140kW at the redline. :D Excellent to drive on FK.

If we end up doing another hatchback race, I give the official Monty Burns thumbs up of approval to the Seat Ibiza CUPRA. I probably would've tuned this instead if I didn't already have the Fiesta.

Lads, I would be keen for a few short sprint races tonight if anyone can make it. Does 7:30AEST sound good? I've got a bunch of cash now from the season racing (about $450k I think) and would like to run a 993 GT2, maybe tuned to the top of A Class (600PI), so I'm thinking mid-80's to mid-90's sports/supercars tuned to the top of A.

Anyone keen?

Sweet, another NZer on the board! Always good to have an extra regular to fill the grid.

For Sunday, shall we say C-class hatches is a definite, and run A-class 80s-90s sports coupes (1981-1999) as an extra race? I've yet to run the GT-Four in an online match so I'm looking for a chance to bust it out and kick some ass.

I'll see about joining in. I've also been meaning to tune up an IROC-Z but will probably stick with the Celica. It's got full platform+handling but needs a bit more under the hood to get it up to A-class.

The stock weight is wrong, it's listed as 1420 or something but is closer to 1390. That might be splitting hairs a bit but it does make a difference.
The Altezza's stock power is also inaccurate.

AS200 or RS200? Auto or 6spd? Are you a member of the NZ Altezza club? Check out the Automotive thread, there's a few pictures of my flatmate's Turbo RS200 in there. Yup, I've noted a few inaccuracies. The weight of most cars I've seen is high..... most manufacturers list the kerb weight of their vehicles as with all fluids bar petrol. I'm guessing the the Forza weights include a full tank of pertol, or possibly an average weight driver.

Noticed a few power inaccuracies too. Ferinstance: the 04 Civic Type-R is listed as having 158kW and the 2008 Type-R has 147kW. IIRC, the newer Type-R is about .5 of a kilowatt higher than it's predecessor.

RS200 6MT. Yeah I am, its a great car, albeit lacking power sometimes, but great fun in the turns. Wish it came with a 1JZ like a chaser or something factory but cant have everything I guess.

The new Japanese model's engine output is higher than the European version's, with 225 PS (165 kW; 222 hp) being developed at 8,400 rpm and 215 N·m (159 lb·ft) of torque peaking at 6,100 rpm (versus 201 PS (148 kW; 198 hp) at 7,800 rpm and 193 N·m (142 lb·ft) at 5,600 rpm for the European model).

Still, they should base it on the original Japanese model.

Everyone there who's done a 1JZ/2JZ swap has moaned about the complete lack of handling afterwards. It's only good if you want straight line speed. If you want more power, drop $6000 on a Turbo Kit+PowerFC. Easy 200kw ATW :D

Yeah, it's bloody weird the region models they used. I was racing (with Trin I think) the other night and we noticed that I was driving a Euro (non-UK) car, cant remember which one, and the other driver was in a Japanese car. My car was right hand drive and the Japanese car was left hand drive :/

They must've used the UK model of the Euro car and the American model of the Japanes car.

I knew they'd do a half-arsed job with the interiors reflecting weight reduction upgrades. All it does is remove the passenger seat. LAME.

Sliding the car out to block opponents is apparently a pretty fair tactic on courses like that, so I thought I'd give it a go.
The 4WD catches the tail end really well but it slides a bit too much under normal cornering (which is what messed me up on Mugello) so I'll have a play with the settings and find a happy medium. The brake bias may play a part in that, I've got it set to 45% front and 110% pressure (ABS on) to help it skid out. Good on the uphill, useless for downhill and flat tracks where I'd prefer to drive grip.

I'll tune the car a bit better during the week and get a good night's sleep before Sunday Forza so I can actually concentrate on braking, something which I failed miserably at last night.

In addition to what HiredMan said, I propose we have an...

M-OFF!

-Stock M3 E92 (462PI) or M5 E60 (455PI)
-Nurburgring, 2 laps
-Everything but ABS off

The Z4 Coupe may also be a contender at 438PI, would have to see how it holds up against the sedans first. Could always add wider tires to pad it out a little.

I've got my 911 GT3 lined up ready to go. or maybe an NSX-R GT if I can get some better speed out of it. its a full 3 seconds slower around mugello than the Porsche :S prolyl need to lower the handling specs and up the power.

Catalunya is a great example why you need asymmetrical setups. The outside edge of your left side tyres run warmer, while the inside edges of your right side tyres run warmer.

Plus you can't really set up for ovals properly without the option to stagger the car.

TrinityJayOne
08-11-2009, 12:35 AM
Ahaha, the old "let's do JGTC on Suzuka with all assists to make it 'fair' for everyone". Then if that didn't happen, he'd be awkward and just sit in the lobby not racing.

Just gave the three Beemers a run around Ol' Nurby, pretty evenly matched! The (stock) Z4 Coupe was of course slowest, and suprisingly only very slightly quicker around the bends. Any gains here were easily lost as soon as you hit a straight. It kept up with the sedans for the most part, but finished 10sec slower in the end.

The M3 is still the tail-happy beast we all know and love, unless your name is Blue apparently. :P It's all so controllable though, and you can get on the power quicker than you'd think if you're gentle. The car's downfall is the gearbox, as the shifts seem to take forever for a car this quick.

M5 is very similar to the M3 and my personal favorite. The added weight makes it more composed out of corners and you can get on the power quicker, but it only barely out-accelerates the M3. Not quite as nimble through turns but again it feels more composed at speed. The ratios are vastly superior, much faster shifts and of course there are 7 (SEVEN!) of them. :D As expected, it kills the M3 for speed once you hit about 220km/h.

Blue- Did you mean German saloons or the actual DTM cars? I recall doing an Audi vs BMW vs Mercedes stock saloon race a while ago, perhaps that would be more to your liking?

Blue
08-11-2009, 12:40 AM
I certainly could never be arsed with asymmetrical setups; that's just getting way too fiddly for me to ever bother with. :/

Well, I was thinking Audi/BMW/Merc, but then I figured someone might want to use a Vauxhall or a Peugeot (for whatever reason, if they even have a sedan in the game that would be appropriate) or a Volvo, so I thought a European sedan race might have a bit more variety than a straight-German shootout.

I wouldn't even know what the DTM cars are. :p

I certainly could never be arsed with asymmetrical setups; that's just getting way too fiddly for me to ever bother with.

Its not that fiddly. I'm running laps with the Tyre Heat OSD up and notice there's a 3-6 degree variation from the left side outer to inner, and right side inner to outer. It'd be nice if you had the option to alter the camber of each individual tyre to eliminate such a problem.

Grand Prix Legends had a pretty simple checkbox that turned on and off asymmetrical setups from the setup screen, so you could have the best of both worlds.

Blue
08-11-2009, 01:05 AM
See, I was wondering about that. A 'mirror setup' button, that automatically switched the settings to apply to the opposite side of the car, would help to alleviate this.

Some classic fun tonight, with Shorty having the same luck HiredMan did last week :D

Started with the C Class Hatches at Iberian short, a track that many of us were unfamiliar with. I think Blue managed to take 2 people out at the first corner :p

Then ran the same cars again at Road Atlanta, albeit somewhat cleaner.

Ran the A Class 6cyl at Catalunya, with Shorty copping a Blue special at the first breaking point :P Was a nice 3 car race for the lead between myself (370z), Surgeon (NSX) and... I think it was TorquensteinNZ (R34 GTR). I think Surgeon overshot a breaking point which let me slip passed, but I couldn't catch the GTR up front. Surgeon was hot on my tail towards the end.

Ran a 1 lap dash on the 'ring using stock B Class 4 doors. Again Shorty (M3 GTR) and Blue (Audi RS4) couldn't be kept apart at the first chicane. Somehow I (E60 M5) managed to take the lead, but relented it to Surgeon (IS F) in the narrow section, and I couldn't catch him.

Then it was down to 4 (Surgeon, Shorty, Blue and I) so we had a 1 lap drift run of Fujimi Kaido, which I absolutely smashed in an A Class FC :D

Hopefully our next Sunday Night Forza will have a few cleaner first corners. >_>

Nice racing tonight.

Civic did pretty well in the hatch races. Had a lot fun in the A class race too, although I couldn't seem to get the momentum to try pass Lazlow. The NSX is a nice car, but it managed to get away from me on a couple occasions.

I'll have to actually practice drifting for next week. Spent way too much time on the paintjob. :p

I second that notion. :p

The A-class six-shooter was my fault for choosing an insane car (TVR Sagaris) with a few upgrades bolted on at the last minute. Clockwork's Civic was mad quick, though. I could barely keep up in my C425 Focus RS and was getting left behind in my C423 '08 WRX STi.

I'm suprised I still managed second in the Fujimi Kaido drift comp, given that I had basically no idea how to drift and my Mustang GT wasn't properly setup for it. Only ending up 8k behind Lazlow at the end almost seems respectable.

Lesson for next time - stay away from Blue. :p

Ludicrously pimped out SUVs (slammed on the biggest wheels you can find with the shiniest chrome you can find, with max negative camber, and a paint job to boot if you have time)

S Class old school sports cars (we had some runs at Old Le Mans using the 330 P4, Testa Rossa, GT40 and Corvette Sting Ray, this will be an expensive venture though :/)

So, what's the go for tonight? I will probably get shot for this, but I was thinking maybe some cars on the lower end of the scale around King Cobra? They've spruced that track up a bit.

I unfortunately have 0 cash for the SUV pimping, as lastnight I won a Veyron and accidentally blew everything but 200Cr seeing how fast I could get it going. The answer is "not very", jumps about 200kW in power but I struggled to get it past 420km/h. Changing the ratios works against you, because if you "upgrade" the gearbox you lose the 7th gear. :(

TrinityJayOne
22-11-2009, 09:47 PM
So basically my idea is a recreation of one of the greatest racers ever, the original Need for Speed. All the cars are there...some not the exact same model sadly, but close enough! The roster would be as follows-

Lamborghini Diablo SV
Ferrari 512TR
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
Dodge Viper GTS ACR '99
Porsche 911 (993) GT2
Honda NSX-R '92
Toyota Supra RZ
Mazda RX-7 FD

There's a pretty massive disparity between the Diablo and the RX-7, so tuning up to A class would be necessary. No aero, and cars must be painted the same color as in the PSX game (2nd player color if required!).

Thoughts?

Melas
23-11-2009, 12:02 AM
that actually sounds like a good idea.

What is the Diablo's PI ? Also dibs on the Diablo (its my favourite on that list) :P also link to what the paint would be.

PS: link to the artwork on the car(s) ?

The Diablo is 517PI, but the Porsche is actually higher (550-something). It's the correct generation, but the GT2 is the go-fast model whereas NFS1 had the base model Carrera. Anyhoo, colors! (1P, 2P)

Diablo- black, dark purple
512TR- red, yellow
Corvette- dark green, maroon?
Viper- blue, ??????
911- dark bluey-green, light blue
NSX- silver, ????
Supra- red, black?
RX7- yellow, dark green?

Diablo- black or dark purple
512TR- red or yellow
Supra- red or black

I'm probably going to go with the NSX, I need an MR in my garage. Just to clarify, A600 PI, no aero parts, no drivetrain changes (engine swap all you like though). This includes switching the Diablo SV to the authentic VT. :P For the track I was thinking Fujimi Kaido, that way you won't have to spend all your PI bolting 5 turbos to the RX7 to make it as fast as a Diablo/512TR on the straights. Open to suggestions though!

I'm ok with any time, as long as we're done by 11pm.

I'm having similar problems with the NSX, even with stock engine and all handling upgrades it is a fiesty bitch to tame (540PI). With engine upgrades to take it up to 600PI, it is ridiculous. I got an 8:50 from a standing start with several rewinds, whereas a fairly sedate lap in the stock Diablo (517PI) was 5sec quicker, and the stock Porsche quicker again. I put it down to the Diablo & Porsche having a bit more weight and massive rear tires.

Not sure what to do, as if we all do 4WD then it will be a case of most power = winner. :( Even on a fast track that NSX would be a ****.

Anyhoo, I gave myself an idea and turned the SV into a VT, albeit without the fancy AWD system. As fun as that was stock, I upgraded the tires and supercharged it and it's now at 600PI. It's pretty damned quick around FK. :D

So Surg and Trin, tonight? Early-ish, maybe 7:30pm AEST?

Clocky, why so long without the bawx? Still waiting for the insurance dudes to cough up?
Hahaha nah, they coughed up months back. I have a CoDMW2 box, have set it up, done a licence transfer and everything is going smoothly. However, it's currently in storage as I'm shifting flats in about 2 weeks. I'll be pretty big on Forza once I'm up and running in the new flat though, so expect many races and lots of free liveries on my storefront :)

AEST or daylight savings time did you mean? I'm up for it regardless.

So after watching some Top Gear challenges over the last few days, I've thought up (and thoroughly tested!) a bit of silliness I think we should try.

Basically you get some slow AWDs and do the old hillclimb section of Fujimi Kaido, with the grip handicap set to the lowest setting (25% of normal grip). You'll struggle to safely get over 100km/h, and in a few areas you'll start rolling backwards if you just floor it. You really need to work the controls to keep it moving and avoid the walls. With AI players it fairly quickly turns into a demolition derby, so actual humans should prove even better. :D The winner would be whoever gets to the finish the quickest and with the most intact vehicle.

Best car I tried for it is the Saab 9-5 AWD, as it's heavy and doesn't have massive tires. Oddly enough the 4WDs are worse! When you try to take the Range Rover up a hill in 1st, the weight shifts onto the back and you end up spinning just the front wheels, even if you floor it.

Anyone interested in giving it a go?

Just playing GTA4, think I'm at the last pivotal choice... so I may or may not be late to the party.

Heh, we had a few more after that on each of the other speedways and I popped out to buy a Daytona USA livery, good times. We added the AI to make a full grid, which made it pretty good. A few spills were had and the AI actually won a few races.

That 1-2 PI less the Dodge had over the over cars seemed to equate to 100m a lap, whatever line I took I just lost ground.

I have re-named the thread as Sunday night Forza seems to have died in the arse, but people are certainly still playing regularly.

I have an upgraded 911 GT3 RSR that I've downloaded a Manthey Racing livery for and am very keen to use. Tuned/upgraded R3's tonight anyone?

Sunday Night Forza died mainly because of connection issues and timetable clashes. Still, it had a better ring to it than "Multiplayer Organisation Thread" :p
We could give it a name like HOMO - Hyperactive Online Motorsport Organisation? Or a name similar to Nissan Motorsport's NISMO - we could call it HYMEN - Hyperactive Motorsport Entertainment.

It'll only be 1 or 2 more weeks and I'll be back up on live and racing seriously again :D We've got a new flat, just gotta move in and sort everything out.

This is brilliant.

Can we organise a big race to celebrate this fabulous rebadging? One with, you know, six or more people.

Thought about making a new thread, then I remembered this old gem.

Did anything happen last Sunday or did it die after I had to pull out? (Sorry again).
Anyway, if nobody objects shall we organise something properly for this Sunday? I was thinking B-Class on the 'Ring, E275 round Fujimi Kaido and something properly fast round Maple Valley... R2 perhaps?

HiredMan
12-08-2010, 02:36 PM
Nah, I don't think anything eventuated. I'm really not too keen on getting back into a lot of F3 until I can improve my setup in terms of wheel and pedal positioning (maybe with that stand mentioned in the F3 thread) as my broken clavicle is still healing and its painful.

TrinityJayOne
12-08-2010, 04:46 PM
Trin however has 100% less alcohol-induced injuries and will be there with bells.

Alchohol? It was Osaka induced!!

12-08-2010, 09:26 PM
I thought you fell down some stairs or something? Say what you like mate, but it sounds to me like you took a drunken stumble while chasing after some young Japanese strumpet. :P A situation we could all picture ourselves in, I'm sure!

What time are we looking at for Sunday by the way? I'm happy to make it earlier to account for Clockw0rk, but equally happy to do it late as I have the 11-7 roster next week. What restrictions we going for on the B class 'Ring race? I'll be driving a Euro saloon of some kind, but just want to know if I should leave the AWDs in the garage (I'm guessing yes). Will probably go with my Lexus or XFR, but it depends on what others are fielding. I'll probably put together a prize car as well, been ages since I painted something. :D

Can you gift DLC now?

Anyway, I'll probably run an MX5 Superlight for Fujimi Kaido and a CTS-V for the 'Ring. Probably a stock Radical or Apollo for Maple Valley. :D

TrinityJayOne
13-08-2010, 06:43 PM
I thought the DLC limitation was only an issue in the last game? If not I can always put it on something else.

TrinityJayOne
15-08-2010, 01:58 PM

I'll probably jump on a bit earlier even just to get some tuning done.

TrinityJayOne

Excellent. If it turns out to be just us two then we may have a supercharged V8 showdown on the Ring! Here's my ride-

http://members.iinet.net.au/~trinityjayone/forza/KITT3000.jpg

Powerband isn't quite as good as the other 500PI heavyweights, but it has a suprising amount of grip and still does alright for itself. I can get it pulling 205km/h out of the final turn on the Ring, which is much better than the others can do.

Shorty
15-08-2010, 07:33 PM
That's funny, I was thinking of 'Ring tuning a '10 GT500, myself.

TrinityJayOne
15-08-2010, 07:39 PM
I still think the '10 is a bit of a turd! A bit too much more power than it really needs. This one has 373kW stock, which originally I did increase but then dropped back down in favour of upping the rears to 325mm and swapping the gearbox. Damn Americans and their overdrive gears.

Shorty
15-08-2010, 07:50 PM
That's really been the case with most American sports cars. They always have plenty of power. They just need to improve their ability to put that power on the ground.

TrinityJayOne
15-08-2010, 08:15 PM
