Even if that footage is over a year old, the ideas they have produced are simply awe inspiring. Partnership with a colossus type creature thats also cute, wow. I can see a heartbreak in this game, like in SotC. Hopefully not though.

I dunno. If the story is anything like SotC's than probably, yeah, but I'm getting more ICO tones from this than anything else. Visually I think he fits in just fine, but my judgements could be clouded by pure love for ICO. >_>

I did think he looked a tad too young when I first watched the clip, but it started to feel more and more right the further I got through the clip. This is already bringing back childhood dreams of being on an absolutely gigantic journey. I'd prefer if the story were told through the eyes of a younger person.

God, that looks amazing. Even being old footage you can still feel the emotion from the two characters - the griffin-thing particularly - through the as-usual fantastic animation. You can just feel that they are on this long, challenging journey! ...and this is old! I can't even imagine how wonderful this game could potentially be, though if Shadow of the Colossus is any indication it is going to be absolutely unforgettable!

This is the reason I bought a Playstation 3. Up to this point it's been a high definition dust collector, surviving on games like Flower and flOw to capture my attention. I picked one up on launch knowing fully well that Fumito Ueda's SotC follow-up would eventually appear on the platform, and now my purchase has been justified.

I highly doubt it will be called Trico (third ICO) after E3, much like Nico (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMARK1AsJ6A) (Ni is 'two' in Japanese) became Shadow of the Colossus after its early preview footage. I'm curious what the game will eventually be called.

So... my aforementioned reaction to the footage? I can't wait. If this game releases while I'm still living in Japan, I'll be walking straight to my local game shop and buying a new PS3 just to play it. This is my 'killer app' of this console generation.

I don't think the creature is going to die, I'm going to take a shot in the dark based on the horns and say it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be some kind of reincarnation of Dormin. It could very well become quite ferocious by the end of the game. This would also explain why it was chained up.

Trico is going to be great, and proof that you don't need to wank your controller in order to make unique games. Realistically though....I can't see it being released until Xmas 2010. No way is it coming this year.

I'll call it now that they'll age over the course of the journey, with the boy eventually becoming a stronger, older adventurer, and his monstrous pal becoming a graceful, massive creature, rather than a big, goofy kitten-bird. Fingers crossed that this is the case, or they've just changed the look of the kid.

Is it actually confirmed that the clip is from actual PS3 hardware running the game? Some sections look raytraced rather than realtime rendered, and there's no way in the world the PS3 is powerful enough to do raytracing in real-time.

If it is, then there's some clever use of shaders going on.

Have you seen the glitch where......

You jump off Agro just before the cutscene, he still goes down but you manage to stay on the other side of the bridge. You can proceed to run around the world and be stalked by the floating corpse of Agro, I suggest youtube.

Also have you guys ever checked out the unusual colossi kills on youtube? Impressive.

Oh my god that trailer was absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. Developers can babble on about trying to get the player to grow attached to a character in a game, but my god this definitely surpasses anything I've seen yet. Just the way the creature is animated, the way it depends on you, just as you depend on it, the way the game tugs at your heart strings through the animation and the circumstances - it is all massively evident in this tiny trailer.

This seems truly a beautiful, touching game - what an achievement for Team ICO, and definitely an appropriate progression from the dark, tragic emotions exhibited by Shadow of the Colossus.

I can't wait.

Given how ugly it is and that its a Japanese game, the main theme is probably UNCONDITIONAL LOVE... awwww.
