Well I'm not playing Heavy Rain because of this........

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100228203617AAKmolA

Restored system to defaults, formated Hard Drives, made a new profile, nothing works.

****** :(

Has nothing to do with Heavy Rain, some (now) jobless idiot put the codes in for a leap year every 2 instead of 4 :), hence the interanl clock got mixed up with the extra day. The problem has been fixed (HAHA sony didnt fix it, tthey waited 24 hours) although it only affected people that bought a ps3 before 09 mostly being the awesome greatness that own a big boned ps3

Thanks man.

Yeah I booted it up last night and it ran ok.

Mind you it didn't stop me formatting my Playstation and deleting my save game in the mean time.

So we're not allowed to link to an article from a legit source which discusses nakedness in a video game?

Nakedness doesn't automatically equal porn, and in this case I think it'd be a pretty tough case to make. There's nothing sexual about it, she just walks around the room without clothes on. BIG DEAL
Similarly, sexual comment and references to "adult" content (eg. pornography and illegal drug use) are not tolerated, except when part of a mature and relevant discussion. We are not total prudes, but you need to keep your innuendo at a "PG" level. No I'm pretty sure you are.

Is it just me or do most of the dramatic bits in this game feel so-bad-it's-funny? Makes it hard to get wrapped up in the story.

Also, how did the hooker cop so much flak for her voice acting when the kid is far worse?

I gave this game every chance, but it just didn't appeal to me. The gameplay is clumsy and stupid (too often they drop the context-sensitive, immersive QTEs for totally random ones, bad move IMO. Also, having to swab someone three times or open a car door twice because you stuffed the QTE is a huge immersion-killer), the story isn't keeping my interest, and the acting/script is so ham-fisted that I ended up laughing at most of the 'dramatic' bits. Also, there's a ton of stuff that's just stupid- one character will grab three things from a medicine cabinet at once, another has to make three trips back and forth? WHY?

Another thing is, I don't agree that these are the most realistic graphics we've ever seen. Yes, the four main characters are superbly detailed and animated, but everyone else is so poorly animated that it becomes totally jarring (and it's not an 'uncanny valley' issue, it's just flat-out bad animation). Every peripheral character has that Smackdown vs Raw 'snake jaw' glitch where their mouth opens twice as wide as a normal human mouth when they talk.

Yes, it's an important, ambitious game, but then again, so was Scribblenauts.

Anyone got a link to a story FAQ so I can see what the big twist is?

I definitely played longer than four hours. The exact scene I reached was when the reporter meets Ethan at the motel, and you have to make three or four trips between Ethan and the bathroom cupboard instead of grabbing three things at once like Scott Shelby did. ;)

I was planning to finish the game, but I reached a point where I just stopped caring. The QTEs got worse and worse, the gaps in logic got bigger and bigger, and I found the story fairly uninteresting. Also, I never really cared about Ethan (tbh I found him annoying, mainly due to the awful voice acting).

When I played this game this afternoon for the first time my impression was "pretty average" as I played through the father role trying to get used to where things were & what I could interact with. Then after the P.I. guy I decided to go back & replay from the beginning again - thinking that I could've done things better since I think Shaun ended up going to bed at 11pm instead of 8pm because I spent so much time mucking around. On the 2nd playthrough I did an evil parent thing where I was just constantly looking at the clock waiting until it turned exactly 8pm before forcing him to go to sleep, lol

It paid off because I unlocked another 2 trophies and got to see some nice touches that I totally missed like watching a home video of the kids. I was tempted to do some mean things, I wanted to drop the groceries to see what would happen & I wanted to bang every single plate on the table so the wife would complain. Its a bit like playing The Sims, you're given choices to do either evil or nice stuff

So this game's starting to grow on me and I'd like to play more tonight but I figured I would control my own sim & force myself to go to sleep too before it hits 3am :p

Hahah it only gets better after that slashy .. I'd advise not to reset the game though, just play through and see what happens, it's amazing how different the story plays out for different people by the end depending on what happened during their play through, so just go for it and keep moving forward :)

You can easily go back for trophies once you finish the game, since you’re able to select the relevant chapters, your first play through needs to be all about experiencing he story, your story :)

I didn't know anything at all about the game before I bought it. No trailors, no demos or anything. So when I started playing the opening moments sucked me right it. The music everything.

The only problem was when I read that you were disappointed with the killer I had just started so the whole time I was playing I thought it was Ethan

I actually enjoyed the opening moments .. as it gave you a great introduction to Ethan .. but for me it only got more engaging later on .. though the opening sequence actually enhances this more!

Not for me. My opening sequence was a mess of fumbling around, walking into walls and not knowing where anything was (so they're in the living room cupboard? Well where the hell is the living room?), combined with annoying, poorly acted dialogue (which also lessened the dramatic impact).

I agree with Adam that the music was good, and yes, the scene was a great juxtaposition with the one that followed the opening credits. Other than that, I didn't like it.

Same here. If I really wanted to experience the storyline the way I wanted it, I wouldn't have wasted so much time fumbling with the controls at the start and trying to figure out which one is the living room - which was actually the dining room. I really did waste a f***load of time spinning around in circles, how is that meant to improve the storyline & make it engaging?

So I basically wanted to reset it because I was missing out on too much and felt like I didn't have enough time to do everything I wanted - that's the only reason. For actual decision making its been pretty much the same but just quicker, more flow making better drama to feel more like a movie

@ ElPrez

Haha, maybe it is. Then there'll be the discussion of a usual wife/husband convo

Husband: "They're not in here"
Wife: "Yes they are"
Husband: "Well I'm looking directly at it and unless there's some vortex that leads to another cupboard I'm not seeing anything"
Wife: "Oh, that's right! I left the plates in the oven"
Husband's options:

X - Slap her
Circle - Whack her over the head with one of the plates
Square - Throw the plates at the table & purposely break them
Triangle - Shove her head in the oven & close it

There's a 3 in 4 chance I wouldn't get married because of the options during the wedding ceremony ;) I might need to find 4 potential wives before I finally get it right

Played some more tonight and the QTEs were getting a bit more annoying. Even simple stuff like taking care of the baby & rocking her to sleep was hard because my analogue stick was too loose which resulted in constant failure even though I did it super slowly. Also I just "loved" it when the camera changed about 4 times just trying to walk by a table to examine something, the P.I. wasted at least a whole minute spinning around, gah! How on earth did the developers think it was a good idea to constantly force the player to change direction for every step they made? Thought this was aiming for realism ffs

I'm up to the bit where I'm dodging oncoming traffic which isn't very fun at all, shame he's not driving a DeLorean... <_<

The game's a bit evil how it doesn't present you with any menu screens or save points that aren't automatic so you're just compelled to keep on playing :p Getting quite a few trophies, seems to be a trophy for almost every action you do even if you fail

Tried out the Taxidermist DLC I got free with my CE copy, well, that was pretty disappointing. For those who don't know what it is, its that tech demo that was shown in a french gaming show where Madison enters a big empty house & goes looking around for clues

It all ends in pretty much 5min, you look around till you find something, then try to sneak out once the owner gets back. I did 1 of 7 scenarios yet unless I actually get caught I doubt there's a huge difference. Glad I didn't have to buy it separately because its really not worth the money & there's no bonus trophies to be had either

Also trying to unlock as many trophies as I can, there's quite a few but I'm getting there, 65% completed. I should checkout the bonus stuff too (concept artwork, interviews) - completely forgot about it
