It's sort of a balance between what we had before and what PCPP implements.

I think - and this is my interpretation of it - that constructive criticism has always been welcome, as long as it's framed in a way that is not abusive. However, repeated 'constructive criticism' that labours the same point, especially if the person it is aimed at has acknowledged that he or she has received the criticism (which is different from taking it on board - that is up to them if they want to do that), I would consider unnecessary.

UYAC isn't a replacement for Hyper. We are a club of upstanding young adults. We are not just limited to discussion on games, we are a community who have many different topics to discuss (such as Burgin, which is SRS business). We have our own set of rules and have a bit more freedom there, as we have no affiliation with a magazine. We're just a bunch of fun lovin' guys and gals!

Honestly we don't have much in the way of great nightspots, especially on a weeknight and considering that you're from Melbourne, which actually has...stuff. In terms of pubs in the CBD I'd recommend World's End on Hinley (James Squire on tap) or the Crown and Anchor on Grenfell street (because all of a sudden everyone I know goes there all the time). I also rather like the Exeter but....that's more of an arts-student hang out, where we all like to go and pretend we have futures. :p

So FrozenSoul80 has been over at UYAC pushing this clean slate pretty hard in the hope to do away with the "Us vs Them" mentality. And its something I gave some thought to.

But unfortunately, because its not a completely clean slate, its a hard sale.

The mod forum and posts within were made public prior to this reboot, and today I decided to check it out.

It was quite an eye opener to see the mod's opinions on myself and other users from behind the veil of secrecy that was the mod forum. Partially because some opinions were way off (for one, you took stuff posted at UYAC/MJ waaaay too seriously ie, Sloppy's thread re: the girl he was after), but other times because it put my actions in another light, and tbh I was disappointed in myself.

But from reading it all (and with 4 archived threads, and 121 images of posts, including Aub's immense Vin banning story, it wasn't a quick read) the thing that resonated throughout was an immense double standard.

Its no secret that several mods/admins lurked MJ. But while in one hand you guys were critical of MJ being so full of hate and personal attacks towards Hyper mods/admins/memebrs, you were very much guilty of the same behaviour with many personal attacks towards myself, vin, texta, IRS, TAT, javer, Sloppy, etc, etc, etc. Starscream even gave it his own nickname "MoronJunction"; how can you take the moral high ground if you are going to resort to the same petty namecalling that we are guilty of? If that section was public it would be ream of deleted posts and infractions for bullying and personal insults.

It was a vicious cycle that everyone was party to. Us vs Them.

And this is why I find this "clean slate" a hard sale as I find it hard to believe these attitudes will suddenly disappear. Will UYAC'ers/MJ'ers) still be looked down upon in contempt?

UYAC poses as a great comapnion to Hyper, in the sense that its an 15+/18+ sub-section of Hyper. All the fun and hijinks that used to be a great part of Hyper many moons ago, can be freely expressed there with some of the same members, without resulting in aggrevating this community and the magazine itself, who don't share the same taste.

I'm willing to give this clean slate a try, but I remain very dubious while some of the old guard is still in place.

But we did have a particularly helpful admin come over and explain why they had to make their decision, and we all pretty much decided it was pretty shit on the mods on that decision too, being forced into a situation that wasn't really fair for everyone. Essentially all the people that decided not to post on Hyper anymore got a look at the reasons for things that had happened that they had asked so long ago but for one reason or another couldn't find the answer to until recently.

So with all that ED business long in the past, and TAT being unbanned, one of the main reasons for people leaving is gone. While before it was THE MODS ARE SHIT, now it's MOST OF THE MODS ARE COOL GUYS ACTUALLY.

Honestly I did feel unfairly persecuted. I felt it was unfair to use me for a "Blaze of Glory". Combine this with consistent harassment through PMs, neps and even harassing phone calls is what led me to believe I was being persecuted. But hey honestly I'd be willing to give a everyone involved a second chance as long as I get treated respectfully and fairly :)

I appreciate you trying to clear things up. Perhaps I was confused. I just thought it was unfair to pin me down for multiple blazes of glory when I honestly feel I did nothing wrong. I don't feel I should have been made a pariah for the masses.

I also felt it went too far and got too personally as members continually nepped me on a regular basis and rejoined hyper under alternate accounts to spam me stupid messages. This was definitely undeserved.

I think what took the cake was when Quatters (I think) posted my number on MJ for everyone to call me and apparently it was stickied by TAT and harassment was then encouraged. Again perhaps it's too many Chinese whispers.

I've also watched a little Master Chef and I'm not surprised it's able to draw such good ratings and such a strong fanbase. I think what also helps it is that with some part of reality TV a lot of people can relate to it. I say this in the sense that although not everyone has a passion to become a Master Chef many people have a genuine interest in food.

Honestly we don't have much in the way of great nightspots, especially on a weeknight and considering that you're from Melbourne, which actually has...stuff. In terms of pubs in the CBD I'd recommend World's End on Hinley (James Squire on tap) or the Crown and Anchor on Grenfell street (because all of a sudden everyone I know goes there all the time).
