Is anyone going to try and buy one from there?
EDIT: Unless they've already been on for sale.

They were apparently available at 5pm. Although majority of people wouldn't know as you couldn't get on to the site. They sold in minutes.
They likely had 3 or 4 units available.

In the time it took me to click 'buy' and then click 'check out' for the Sony Cybershot, it had sold out. That was 15 seconds. ( I had to type in my credit card number...)

Ok, after some extensive research it seems that the YLOD fix is temporary, only enough to give you a special few final hours with your console. Thats all I need to back up everything. I'll keep the bog ol' thing but it's unfortunately time to upgrade. Catchoftheday.com are selling a GHD now, hope I didn't miss the PS3's.
Not exactly true, I had my 3rd YLOD fixed a month and a half ago and stuck to what they advised me. Only leave it on for roughly 2 hours at a time and when you turn it off, make sure the back switch is also off.
Also make sure the vents on the side have heaps of room to breath.

I tried to buy a PS3 off COTD but, by the time it loaded and the paypal part came up, it decided "confirm payment" was the best place to stop loading the next page all together. So my options are (apart from sticking with an ailing console), buy preowned, find a cheap 120GB then replace the HDD with my one (test out that data transfer utility), or just buy a new 320GB FFS.
I'm getting my console fixed tomorrow by a business called Chewy Consoles in Melbourne.

So I bought a Slim.
Lost my Bayonetta save games when I restored my backup. I knew I would lose it but it didn't make it any easier selecting yes to formatting.
Ffffff.

I lost bayonetta, a few others but most notably, Assassins Creed 2. 2 playthroughs. 1 platinum trophy. I just hope AC: Brotherhood doesnt have any save file bonuses.

My PS3 is having issues with shared media.
I can still see all my shared files when I chose an option like "all video" or "all music" but when I go to the folders option and navigate through my nicely sorted folders on my PC I can no longer open the folders with the actual files.
Any suggestions?

I've only ever used the default media server option in the PS3 option menu.
I used to be able to drill down to all the folders as they are on my PC. Hoverever once I have drill downed I can't open the final folders which actually contain the media files.

I think my Playstation 3 is wrecked... :(
I turn it on and it boots up at 720p when it should be running at 1080p on my Series 5 Samsung LCD. The boot up gets as far as the PS3 logo and the floating line background with sparkles then nothing. No menu no nothing it just sits there.

Reset the System to it's defaults and it's working fine again!

So I changed the HDD and read it's meant to be 5400 rpm but just noticed it's 7200 rpm.
With this cause problems?

Dont believe so (apart from extra heat that a higher spinning drive produces).
My PS3 just died. :(
Switches itself off after a minute.

My 1993 model Megadrive is still doing fine - probably good odds to outlive me... I'm onto my second ps3 though.

1991 Sega Master System II is still kicking, albeit with cord mod to do away with the switch box.

Heat?? Vents blocked/clogged?
Doesn't sound good. Any "beeps" coloured light??
It's well ventilated, and I keep it fairly dust free. It beeps 3 times and then turns off. Last night when it happened for the first time i thought I heard a sparking noise, though I saw no sparks and there was no smell. Now it switches on but only stays on for about twenty seconds. :(

Your power plug hasn't worked it's way loose where it plugs into the console?
Did you recently change Hard Drive? Ensure that it connected fully (pull out and refit to be sure)

No didn't get around to changing hard drives, and i unplugged and replugged the power cord. Annoying.

Sorry dude :( I'm assuming it's out of warranty. It may need at trip to Beetronix http://www.beetronix.com.au/
Iv'e heard them mentioned by other hyper forum members. Supposed to be cheaper than sending to Sony.

Maybe the power cord itself is stuffed, have you tried using a different one?
No - I don't think it is because it powers up no problem, but I'll try another. Cheers for the heads up about beatronix.

PS3 HDMI help!
I got a new PS3 console and a HDMI cable, when i proceeded to turn on the console i can't seem to get any picture through HDMI through any of my tv's ports.
I was told to try turning it on through AV and changing the settings to HDMI, this didn't fix it as it just reverts back to SD after a few seconds.
Anyone know how to fix it?
EDIT: Turns out the PS3 didn't like my hdmi cable.
Got a new one from my brother.

ps3's stuffed, kid put a small disc shaped toy in the drive and now the mechanism that draws the discs in is buggered. Still turns on and whatnot so still can play digital games and use as a media box.
Need to look into getting a replacement drive cause it's a)way out of warranty anyway and b)apparently $175 via sony to get fixed.
ebay says about $90 for a new disc drive, so I think I may get cracking on that...
