Facebook and Twitter is all well and good (I'll enjoy the ability to use them from the dash) but Last.fm integration with the 360 is such a fantastic idea. I use my 360 as my main media hub and now having Last.fm will mean I will have access to so much 'new' music. I cannot wait for it. :D

I was playing some Battlefield with Jay tonight, when I received the following voice message from a random account (one I'd never encountered before):

First time this has ever happened to me! In any case, I thought it was pretty funny. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I know someone on here (I won't say who in case they were keeping it on the down low) had a fairly awesome story about a girl on their list who kept sending them shit.

Just called Xbox support out of curiousity to check the serial number. ;) The rep said that not only has that particular console not been in for repair, it hasn't even been registered. Furthermore, he says that console is fairly new and unlikely to be one of the more error-prone models. Hard to tell whether that manufactured date is 2006 or 2008...

Anyhoo, reeks of dodgy! The guy is either lying about it being repaired, or the rear shots are of a different console.

Dick Smith in Perth city has it packed in with a white controller for 100 bucks. Not much help if you don't live in Perth, but maybe try their website?

Also, I know there are no blue or purple lights in the 360, but while you've got it open, you could swap around some LED's without too much difficuculty...

well no, because they support 4 players, wireless headsets, and all my guitar hero instruments. it's a really cool device, and I've never had a problem with the one I'm using currently (belongs to a friend :/) - I just don't need another controller with it.

Yeah, they are incredibly overpriced but I wish companies had a middle ground (they never do, do they? :/). I suck with tech stuff so while I love Microsoft's user-friendly HDD transferal ability, and their "seal of guarantee" on their HDDs so I know theirs are safe, I wish it could be applied to the "get massive HDDs at a reasonable price" that you can do with the PS3 (and vice-versa - I really don't think I'd be competent enough to swap drives. Maybe I should look up an FAQ?).

New NXE update is pretty good. Not a fan of the new achievement browser, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. The avatar props are really well done. Instead of being static and boring, your Avatar plays with each item. The costumes are cool, but too expensive. Really want to buy Stan's outfit from Monkey Island. Bah.

Just saw some Gears of War 2 ads on Fox. Looks like Microsoft are really pushing hard to give it a successful launch here in Japan. Advertising is paling in comparison to Monster Hunter Tri though...

Yeah, one or two things have had it before, and I agree, it's pretty awesome. I think the reason they use it so sparingly is because it would be fairly taxing on your connection to have every window playing a movie. There's 4 trailers you can download as well, although you probably only need one of them as they're all mostly the same footage......infact I'm 99.9% sure that two of them are identical.

This is what worries me about the PSP Go and future consoles being strictly digital distribution, it takes out the price competition you have in physical stores, so they can charge whatever they want and as we'll have no other way of getting hold of the game we'll either have to go without or pay up.

From what I read, some games are reduced in size enough for even 20g owners to start benefitting.

If I had a 20g, I'd at least have games that really benefit on it, like Fable 2. Perhaps ironically, Fable 2's install size doesn't benefit from the update, but some games drop several gigs.

I don't mind the prices, they are a bit excessive in some areas though, and paying different prices for jackets because one has a hood is ridiculous. Just seems like they could renew interest in their back catalogue by patching in avatar rewards.

People who've already played them would get some instant-bonus avatar crap and other people may see the news-items and go "oh, I might finally get around to playing that game" and go buy it or get it via games on demand.

They might have some concern as to whether such a strategy could suck oxygen from new releases but I seriously doubt it would have any notable impact. Probably of greater concern to M$ and developers is that the only people who'd directly benefit financially from retroactive patching like that is second-hand dealers.

Indirectly though, they could use it to keep their game in the news, eg Capcom could patch avatar rewards into Lost Planet in the months leading up to releasing Lost Planet 2. Given the free publicity / brand awareness that news sites and magazines will create just by having some news tidbit or "FREE THING GIVEN OUT OMG" it's hard to argue against it as a value proposition for developers/publishers/M$.

I've been trying to get into some of the older games that I bought and didn't like while I have some (dwindling :( ) time off. As you can see in my sig, todays games were PDZ and Assassins Creed.

I got up to Mission 06 in PDZ... what an atrocious game, yet, somehow engaging at the same time.

After ranting endlessly about how much I hate Assassins Creed, I'm actually enjoying it this time!

Tomorrows games will be Sonic 06 and Enchanted Arms :D

My only advice is not to import one, because the content transfer disc won't work if you do. I've heard of some JB's selling imported ones so be careful.

You silly person. Its made by Oddworld Inhabitants and published by EA. At that time, that had that EA brand on all their releases, but have since backed down from that (it seems).

While it is true that EA make questionable publishing decisions (sure Criterion, we'll publish Burnout 3: Takedown for you, seeing as Acclaim went belly-up, but in return we'll plaster ads for all our games all over the courses!), they are in no way involved with the awesomeness of a lot of the games they publish!

And I am aware EA have development studios, too.

It can. It did on Burnout 3 IMO. Mostly because the billboards whip by so fast they become almost subliminal.

Can't get it to work at all. Must be router problems. Sometimes it (my 360) will show up in the system tray but it usually won't.

My bro's been trying to fix it, and he's an IT student who has a semester of networking under his belt. He's far from an expert, but he knows far more than me...So I don't know.

I just tend to plug my ipod into my box directly...

I've decided that, as of right now, I'm leaving the forums. I have been toying with the idea for a while, but have never understood why. I have never had a concrete enough reason to leave. It's unfortunate, but now I do: I've just outgrown the forum, and I've outgrown the majority of you - with the exception of a bunch of people who know exactly who they are when I say this. I don't really give a ***** if this post is passed over or ignored - the people who matter will read it and, well, I don't know what, really. I mean I know I was quite vocal about my dislike for Crackdown but I was also quite vocal about wanting to see what a sequel could bring to the table as the franchise has potential.

I just read that Crackdown is set within the exact same damn city ...... how the hell am I meant to get excited over that seriously? It's in the latest Gameinformer apparently.

An entirely different city, the first game had a weak story and no name characters. There didn't need to be anything that linked the two games together.
Just create an entirely new city with improved gameplay.

The team chose to keep the sequel located in Pacific City as they considered that setting had a character of its own in the first game and wanted to preserve that for the sequel to keep up its familiarity with players, while still making it "bigger and better". The team also sought to preserve the same free-form gaming experience from Crackdown and opted to avoid any significant dialog-driven cutscenes, while improving on parts of the gameplay from the first game that were seen as weaker aspects. There are no significant mechanical changes to the game, though Ruffian continues to improve on the rendering engine to allow the display of the large vista of Pacific City

Essentially I'm reserving judgment until I see how much they expand upon the existing city.
