Nope, the Escape from Buther Bay in Dark Athena is exactly the same but prettier, and iirc it has a nicely implemented little cover system of sorts that the original game didn't have - so it's arguably better.

They're not going out of business, but they've hit some trouble. They recently had something of a reshuffle amongst the bigwigs, assigning one of the guys from the UK to head up GAME Australia. Around 20 stores are supposed to be closing once their leases are up. They'll still be around, but the company's hit a bit of a rocky patch.

GAME are by far the worse videogames retailer of all time. Their stores try to be a combination of Gametrader's decor and EB's generic brands ( go into one store and you don't need to go into another, same games, same shit, even the pre-owned holds no surprises from store to store )
EBS survive because they have the amazing sales, just wish they would shut that geek up who does the voiceovers, he makes all gamers look like D&D nerds.

Because it's so far below cost price maybe? Seriously, I don't price match unless: a) it's a game that SHOULD be a lot less than it is (Modern Warfare 2.......I mean, $119.95 STILL?!), or; b) I can match it to another store without going under cost (which is listed on any store's system, I'd say).

JB can afford to buy ludicrous amounts of stock and sell it at a lower price, while Game (and maybe even EB) can't afford that.

From what I've played, it's not frustrating. It's very challenging, of course, but never to the point of being totally unfair. Ensure you play online so you can see messages and corpses!

I guess it's different from person to person. I enjoy playing BlazBlue...wouldn't say i love it but do enjoy it, but for me SFIV was a big fat meh when I played it. Haven't even considered getting SSFIV.

Street Fighter is accessible through familiarity. Over the years it's retained the same characters, same moves, and same basic strategies.

So any new fighter is really going to struggle to cut through.

Anyone picking it up hoping it will play like Street Fighter will be disappointed. But then again, it'd be pretty foolish to make that assumption.

My only problem with BlazBlue was the limited roster, and the boring designs within. I didn't find any of the character designs instantly appealing, which is generally how I pick a character when I first play it. Lichi looked like a Mai Shiranui clone, and Ragna the Bloodedge and Jin Kisaragi felt like a repeat of Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske.

It only took about 15 minutes in practise with Noel to get a good grasp of the game.

Browsing at Kmart to pass some time this morning and found this bargain (bought it for Sonic CD, why the **** else would you buy it? Not for Sonic the Fighters, that's for sure).

Anyhow, mark downs on all game formats on many games at Kmart, PS3/X360 releases from last year for about $44 each and some decent deals on DS and PS2 for under $22 each.

Tempted to but the hulk or iron man games, but not even for $15! No way man.

Was in Game yesterday and saw that Wii Sports Resort (with Motion Plus) was back up to $79, but Red Steel 2 with Wii Motion Plus was $49, so I bought it. Now I've got 2 Wii Motion Pluses. No doubt they'll be one bundled with the new Zelda when it comes out too.

I really need to start playing through some games now. At least I've finished Bayonetta now and I've 'finished' Mario Galaxy 2, but I need to get more stars.

Yeah of course UT99 had more features in pretty much every aspect (dodging, Assault, secondary fire etc ) but this is also the main reason why Q3A was so good. Q3A shone in simplicity. It was so balanced because it offered pure FPS deathmatch. The speed of your movement and jumps, the different tactical uses of your weapons and the layout of the maps all come together in such a synergy that no other FPS has ever touched yet. I love UT99 but its feature overload (by no means a bad thing) meant that it wasn't as 'clean' in terms of mechanics. There's a reason why Q3 is still being played competitively today.

My 360 controller works fine with Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes but not with Mega Collection (it keeps thinking that I'm pressing left for some reason). I have another crappy gamepad that works fine with Mega Collection but I might see if I can find my USB-Playstation converter thing and try it with my PS2 controller too.

I don't mind Sonic Heroes, not sold on Sonic Adventure though

I haven't posted for a while or even acquired all that much in the way of new games. All the playstation stuff was $30-40 and the 360 shooters were full price, Deathsmiles II in particular was hideously expensive costing over $90 due to the exchange rate at the time combined with play asia's usual mark-up. It's much better then expected although it's so easy I even got the 1cc with all characters and 1cc w/every level over 2 achievements. The highlight in that lot though has to be red seeds profile, it's so good I even tracked down access games first title spy fiction. Haven't tried it yet though as I'll have to drag the old ps3 or modded ps2 from out of storage to do so.

I got a heap of DD, on PSN I picked up Donpachi, DoDonpachi, Zanac X Zanac & LSD. Also Dark Awake (which looks worse then all the ps1 fighters thanks to pre rendered sprites and the lack of a decent filter), Raystorm HD (it's awful, don't be sad it's not in the Aussie stores), Afterburner Climax, That triple pack of Doujin shooters Gundemonium Recollection & Earthworm Jim.

Dsiware grabbed a couple of shit 200 point platformers as well as that castlevania rip off Soul of Darkness, GG series Z-One 2 & Earthworm Jim.

Assuming you go for the GBA SP rather than the vanilla GBA or the micro, keep in mind that you can pick up the GBA SP with the brighter back light from the US for $50 these days. Pricey for an SP, but not when you consider that the backlit model was never released locally (ours is front lit, that's why the light is crap!)

FYI - Just remember that the power plug won't fit our terminals. Not sure if you can plug in a PAL one or not, but you can always use an adapter.
Sure you can play GBA games on the first two models of DS, but many GBA games need those shoulder buttons, which are much more responsive than the DS shoulder buttons.

Unfortunately using that Mafia II DLC code counts as a "used" game when I went to return it to EB instead of being able to use the 7 day trade :( FFS, its a piece of paper! And I'm sure they've got loads of codes in the back, I actually included that & the receipt but it was "no deal" from the staff. I really wish they'd just put the DLC on the game itself, its stupid the way they do that. So I only got $74.25 including the 65% extra trade value towards a pre-order, must've been worth less than $50 for a RRP$109.95 despite being less than a week old - that's pretty crap

I did the same with Batman AA & Split Second, trading them towards pre-orders, got $34.65 for Batman (which I paid $28 for) and $52.80 for Split Second (paid $24). $161.71 trade in total, split that in half and put it towards Dead Rising 2 & NFS Hot Pursuit LE (DLC stuff). Hopefully after pricematching they'll both cancel eachother out & I won't have to pay extra
