I got my refund at K-Mart and am now stuck with 12 months of Game Informer and an Edge Plus card. Hopefully these come in handy and are worth more than that McDouble I consumed out of immense regret.

I had no issues today - traded in seven copies and using the driftout method got Darksiders (which I kept) and 2 x Hawkx2, 2 x Mindjack, Tron and Megamind, which then went to preorders of Duke Nukem and Infamous 2.

So all up $24 spent - they charged me for six copies of Nat Geo instead of seven - to get Darksiders, Duke and Infamous 2.

They're supposed to take a maximum of 2 copies of the same game. Your credit is safe once the transaction has been processed. There is nothing they can do to correct it (unless of course you ask them to change it!).

That's because the person who served you was either too lazy or too stupid to do a manual search for Nat Geo. It doesn't come up on the computer when the barcode is scanned. You should have asked the store manager to serve you.

I'm pretty sure the manager was overseeing what was happening. The guy looked like he was doing a manual search but apparently didn't find anything. The manager seemed kinda pissed so I just assumed he didn't want to get ripped off.

Well I took my last 2 copies into trade today. The first store told me I'd get $20 for it, then when he was finishing up he said

The second store I went to couldn't find it in their system, and offered me $16 dollars for it based off the Wii version I think. I said I'd hold onto it hoping the next store would find it, but they offered me $16 also, so I figured I'd just take it while the going was good. I also got them to consolidate all my trade-in cash from the last 3 stores to theirs.

Yeah I took in my last two copies today, got $20 each for them so did a straight swap for de blob 2 on ps3.

All up it's been a good ride - think I did 13 copies all up, paid $10 each for the first two, $4 each for 10 and one for free.

So $60 outlay for $315 in trade value - ended up with Infamous 2, Duke Nukem Forever, Darksiders, AC Brotherhood and de blob 2.

I recommend trading Secret Files 2 Wii at EB ($10 at Dick Smith). Base trade value is $26. Get 50 per cent extra when trading any game towards a pre-order (65 per cent extra with an Edge Plus). Traded 2 copies (cost $20) for $86 credit towards Modern Warfare 3. Will price-match for $79 on release , so will only cost $13 . My only warning is that it has to be a manual search (it has a UK barcode and a junior may try to put it through as $6 for an open sku game). It will show on the computer as "Secret Files 0" for Wii.

Sometimes you can save a couple more dollars by choosing to buy from one over the other, I just check both whenever I buy from them, sometimes an item is "out of stock" in one, but in stock at the other, even though it's the same store!

Yeah I got Red Steel 2 at that price a couple months back at Big W, it was a permanent mark down as far as I know.

I went to DS Brighton this morning and there were some good bargains, but not everything that was on the original list. I picked up Fallout: New Vegas ($5), POP: Forgotten Sands ($5), Vanquish ($5) all on 360 and also Kirby's Epic Yarn ($15) and Goldeneye with Classic Controller ($20). Not a bad haul for $50.

No idea when I'll play all of these - I still have a massive backlog, but for those prices, it was hard to resist.

I think alot of the sale items are instore only. The really good deals like points cards, consoles were all quite limited. New xbox and ps3 consoles aren't on sale only consoles with a particular SKU. Also apparently 'new' points cards aren't on sale either.

The golden times seem to come around 9 months into a console generation. The value of games continually collapse as the generation goes on. I'm pretty sure when this one started we didn't have games being launched (effectively) at au $80 at retail (not so ludicrously cheap and easy online.)

It's going to change things in really interesting ways if they really do come up with used-game busters in the next generation. They might get a massive shock when 90% of people wait until a new release falls to $30 before buying.

Given I can buy a movie or tV series that cost hundreds of ions to make for a fraction of the cost of a game, despite rather different revenue streams it's possible that games have had it too good for too long.
