I don't know whether it's still going, but JB Hi-fi have been selling Battlestations: Pacific for $25. It's only been out for about 6 weeks and is a great game.... I'd urge anyone who'd be into a bit of RTS/action crossover to pick it up.

You can cancel any pre-order at EB and get all of your money back - if they say they can't get them to call up regional management ;)

If they say no call up head office - or, better, Morayfield EB.

Depends.

I know GAME don't price match any internet retailers.

You can try to make EB price match by showing them the internet special at GAME, but it's much easier to just cancel the pre-order and order online if they don't.

If anyone is in QLD, the Gametraders in Loganholme went into liquidation and all their stuff if for sale/auction on graysonline (http://www.graysonline.com/Sale.aspx?id=71187).

Heaps of good retro gear as well as latest game bundles and merchandise.

Click here to see the list which is over 250 items (http://www.graysonline.com/Sale.aspx?id=71187)

The catch? Gotto be able to pick it up :(

Anyone in QLD? :P

OMG!! There is a pic of like 5 slim PS2's taped together currently bidding at $139

I just bought yet another ps2 at eb this week for $130, so seeing this just BOGGLES my mind. I'm freaking out man. I could use this PS2 brick as a door stop until my THIRD ps2 breaks, as it enevitably will, being made so poorly and all. Then I could just swap one from the pile every 2 years or so.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88/Jonny9999/PS2.jpg

If you could just BUY items rather than bidding, I'd be tempted to do a road trip shopping spree to QLD. But trouble is I'd end up spending too much on fuel to make it worthwhile. Still, if you get the more expensive items, TV's, 'Puters etc, then it would be more worthwhile.

If a game is cheap, the scores it gets are unimportant. With the exception of out-dated sports games and movie tie ins.

Picked up Ninety Nine Nights for $16, Gun for $19 and The Club for $20 and had fun with all of them.

Guitar Hero Decades DS $2 (Toys R Us), Nascar 08 360 $9 (KMart), NBA 08 Ps3 $3.50 (KMart) , Dead Head Fred PSP $2.50 (KMart) , Scene It with buzzers 360 $6 (KMart). Obviously every KMart won't have these games in stock , but if they do these are the prices they scan at. The Scene It I picked up was actually on display and stickered for $6 (having been reduced from $20 then to $14 , then to $6). It's surprising that the staff don't just buy it at that price.

Some KMarts are useless in terms of bargains. The more disorganized they are , the better in general for bargains. Often stock will be out the back in the storeroom because there's not enough room for it to be on display or it's just forgotten. Most of those prices I mentioned (including the $2 Guitar Hero Decades DS at Toys R Us) were stickered which makes it all the more surprising that they were still in stock.

I ended up grabbing it. I figure the trade-in value on the game is bound to be at least $10, so at worst I'll be paying $9 for an art-book/DVD/shitty figurine/CD.

When people found out about the 40Gig Ps3s for $199 at Target a while ago (which were virtually all gone on the Monday a few hours after the e-mail from head office was received), Targets everywhere were getting inundated with calls from people for about a week later hoping to get some. Tons of people were also ringing some KMarts which stocked 40 Gig Ps3s to get a price match. Attempts to get a price match included "my sister works at Sony and $199 is the new price point for Ps3s so you can sell it to me now for $199" . Unfortunately for this person the store manager didn't.

Not at all. Just gotta be there at the right time. I remember finding Vib Ribbon for $10 and Space Channel 5 Pt2 for $20 at DJs.

Also, I noticed the Harvey Norman in the city has been having some kind of strange sale as of last week. They need to shift stock so they had like a 'we will reduce one and only one copy of the game to a ridiculous price and leave the others incredibly high'. Managed to nab Phantom Hourglass for $17, Flower Sun and Rain for $7, Driver 76 for PSP for $7 and Beowulf for PSP for $7 (meh, crap game I'm sure but cheap :) ). Also picked up Shaun White on PS3 for a mate for $17. Had other stuff at the time like Pikmin Wii and Mario Strikers for $17, Trauma Centre 2 and Ninja Gaiden 2 for $27. Those are long gone now, but other stuff has been popping up. Few good games in the 2 for $50 stack for Wii owners, like Lets Tap, Metroid Prime 3 and Wario Shake Dimension (so I'm told). Probably only at the one store though.

Not sure if its been mentioned but Street Fighter IV is half price on Steam this weekend making it US$19.99. Still haven't played this game, wonder if its worth the ~$25. I've got a 3rd party 360 lookalike controller but if that boss guy is anything like the reports I've heard (on very easy mode) I'd probably want to avoid it. Still...there is Sakura in a short skirt :D

Seth is pretty easy to beat...in the first round. Then he turns into a cheap, cheating son-of-a-bitch, and it really takes the shine off the arcade mode. You have to forget all your hard earned skills that would otherwise serve you well, and just spam jumping MK's, followed up with FK sweeps. Thats the only thing that really worked for me...

Harvey Norman in Rundle Mall (Adelaide) has Mirror's Edge on 360 for $20. It also has a bunch of great Wii stuff- I grabbed HOTD Overkill and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat in a 2 for $50 sale, then grabbed Warioland Shake Dimension (also part of the sale) seperately for $27. They also had Metroid 3, both Pikmin games and Let's Tap as part of the promotion.

They came down in price further today. Too Human was $19 last week , but $13 today. Brothers In Arms Hell's Highway got the same reduction on both platforms as well. I paid $19 for Star Wars Unleashed Ps3 a few days ago , but it should be $13 if you can track it down (the 360 version is still the normal price). I also got Bad Company 360 for $19 a few days ago(it should be $13 now). The Ps3 version of Bad Company is $28 (down from $40).

It won't be long before the JB exclusion list gets updated due to the number of people using cheap trade fodder from the EB pre-owned sale (which finishes tomorrow). It was easy to get 3 X 360 games for around $36 due to the sheer number of new old stock sourced from a European supplier.

How does 'Buy Game as a Gift' on Steam work? Like for example if I want to buy a few copies of BRAID, but I'm not sure who I am going to give them to yet, can I just email them to myself, and then forward those out to the real recipient of the gift later?

No, you need to specify who you're sending them to at checkout, I believe.

MASSIVE savings at Harvey Norman at the moment, but I'm not sure if its country wide or just my local. They are having 80% off on a bunch of games. I bought Rockband, Rockband Beatles, Midnight Club LA and Riddick on the 360 for $73 all up!

They were selling the complete band kit of GHWT for $99 and the Game/Guitar Bundles of Metallica and WT for $47 on both PS3 and 360.

There were a heap of other games as well on all platforms.

Nothing significant off newer releases . Fifty per cent off a lot of older and discontinued stuff like Lost , Beowulf etc. Nothing like the 80 per cent off sale at some Harvey Normans last Saturday.

driftout625
14-09-2009, 08:08 PM
Just on the Harvey Norman sale , the discounts of 50 to 80 per cent off newer releases involved a rebate from suppliers in most cases so Harvey Norman was not out of pocket. This was the reason behind the big discount on titles like Rock Band Beatles and Batman at a few Harvey Norman stores. I managed to pick up Rock Band Ps3 for $8 , Singstar Vol 2 Ps3 for $10 , NBA 09 Wii for $8 , House Of The Dead Wii for $10 , De Blob Wii for $15, AC/DC Ps3 for $15 , Argonauts Ps3 for $20 , Kirby Superstar DS for $14 and a few others.
