So what is Quarrel like?

Haven't played it myself, but from what I've heard it's a really fun, interesting game that's kind of like Risk mashed together with Scrabble.

I hear that it gets pretty hard on higher difficulties or later in the game, and also that the online is pretty much broken, with people using online anagram solvers to win instantly.

I tried the demo. It's aesthetic is cute and annoying at the same time. If you can play online against friends I think it would be a good game but against strangers it would be broken.

The concept would probably work better on iOS or DS (grabbing tiles with a stylus is always going to be preferable to analogue sticks.)

Although I'm not sure they've ever actually given me the points they are already supposed to have given me anyway.

I tried the demo of Final Fight remake. It looks pretty good, but the gameplay hasn't aged well. You're essentially just mashing the attack buttons while constantly moving up or down to avoid getting hit. It lacks momentum. Instead of going for a faithful remake, why not go for an improved re-imagining.

They really should try to make these games fill the whole widescreen, because you've already got the artwork cells and just need to extend the screen beyond 4:3.

Because of all the noise at the arcades, you just don't notice how grating the music is, and now it's very noticeable. Some of Capcom's games like the Ghost N Goblins series featured incredible music, but Final Fight's music is very annoying. I'd put it in the same annoying basket as Mega Man music. You know what I mean, very bright sounding jazzy fare with weedy instruments, which doesn't hit the right pleasure senses.

If I hadn't already completed the SNES version many times I probably would have considered getting it.

They did a 3D re-imagining in 2006 for PS2 & XBOX.

I use the quicklaunch when loading a game that is not loaded in the tray, and don't really spend much time in the dashboard to really care.

Initially, the update was cool when you could just shout "Play Skyrim" and it loaded the game for you. But I don't usually speak to my xbox.

I've been waiting ages for Wrecked, day one purchase for me! Maybe now I can stop lugging my Xbox around just to play the original Mashed, I never did find a copy of Mashed Fully Loaded which plays on the 360.

Not sure I'm going to bother anymore. I downloaded the trial only to find that SP is locked out, only MP is available and there weren't any games going. I tried local MP, but of course as soon as you drive a few car lengths you win a point. I tried driving with both controllers and didn't like how the car handled, the physics just seem poo and this is a dealbreaker for me.

Wrecked is pretty great. The physics need tweaking, the cars themselves handle well but the collisions are total crap. You can't shunt opponents with the rear-end flick like in classic Mashed, and the "sideways shunt" feature is more useful for cornering than actual bumper-to-bumper combat.

Weapons have been balanced, explosions don't send cars flying like they used to and a bit more finesse is required but they're still great value. Additions like the railgun, shield and wrecking ball add a ton of excitement and "holy shit, did you see that?" moments are common. The new airstrikes are a mixed bag, the laser and the 50mm cannon are great but the classic missile has been gimped to the point of uselessness and the swapper/steering reverser just plain aren't fun.

The tracks are all fun in their own way, and it's great to experiment with different weapon loadouts (you can change what appears on the map) and different handling styles (combinations of slow/fast, grippy/slidey). Polar Wharf is naturally as good as ever, although the aforementioned handling issues make battles slightly less tactical than the original Mashed track.

There are some bugs with the game crashing while loading, which is irritating but reasonably infrequent. If you're playing alone you should know that online multiplayer is apparently laggy and a pain to connect, and if a person drops then the game will end rather than continuing without them. There is no option for AI controlled opponents in multiplayer, and for the most part the single player is devoid of life and has you racing against ghosts.

The price is 1200msp for the game and 400msp for the day one DLC which adds two tracks and two new weapons, the tracks are great and it's worth the money but 1600msp seems a bit steep when Fez is out in two weeks for half the price.

tl;dr: Mostly good, some bad. If you're not playing local multi, give it a miss.

Joe Danger was one of the best games on XBL released last year. 600 MSP is a bargain price for it.

With the fake glitch up the game has, I figured it was just playing. Flashy colours and everything. However my 360 actually locked up and I couldn't do anything. Confused, I hit the power button on the console and restarted the game. It happened again although it played through properly this time.

I'm not sure how coincidental it had to be locking up at that precise moment.
