To be honest, I find people are too quick to put the -core tag to any band coming out of America these days. I struggle to find anything -core in TBDM's music.

At the end of the day, its not always a bad thing. Bleeding Through are a band I'll admit I flippantly disregarded due to them carrying the metalcore tag, and getting featured heavily in Metal Hammer. Declaration is a fantastic album, that features a varied mix of influences.

One of my all time favorite albums, hard to say whether I prefer it to Elephant. Still need to listen to their early stuff though.

Listened to the latest Alice In Chains album, Black Gives Way to Blue, in the car today. It's very familiar sounding, with the nice, chunky, sludgey riffage that is synonymous with AIC. The new singer does a fantastic job of channelling Layne Staley; after a while I'd forgotten that I wasn't listening to Layne. It's no Dirt, or Jar of Flies, but for 2009, I'll take it.

For some reason I found this and haven't been able to stop listening to the old Tiberian Sun soundtrack.

When I was a kid, I used to love this song. It was weird and catchy, and seemed to fit. Now I listen to it and think of sex and C&C, at the same time. I can't really complain about that.

Kind of ashamed to admit it, but Linkin Park- A Thousand Suns. Not that I like them anymore, but given that they were the first band I was heavily into, I thought I might as well give it a shot.

There's a couple of interesting songs on there, but its pretty much what you'd expect from a band trying to sound 'deep', and not quite pulling it off.

I've been mostly listening to In A Glass House.

I guess that's probably the problem.

It's mostly down to personal preference.

Octopus has shorter songs that change key and chords much quicker than anything they've done before, but that's not to say I don't like In a Glass House, The Power and the Glory, Free Hand, etc. I just prefer where Octopus is coming from, which is as I said, personal preference.
