So the ruck circle in the centre of the ground has been painted for Indigenous Round. It looks like an Aboriginal Pokeball.

The Suns had a pretty good game against Geelong last night. The Hunt goal was massive, pretty damn good.

The speed in which the Suns are improving each week is pretty fast, I think they've got 3-4 more wins in them this season and then next year, who knows? Top 8?

As a Cats fan I was pretty impressed with GC.

Smith is already a gun, and will be among the top rucks - if not the best - in the comp within a couple of years, and yeah, it was good to see Hunt have a highlight.

Great stadium - the atmosphere looked pretty intense while they were up and running.

They are a good chance to win three more games - North Melbourne and Adelaide up there and Melbourne at the MCG still to come.

Still think they will struggle to hang onto a lot of their young stars once their initial contracts are up and they get offered more to go elsewhere though. Wonder if Gaz will offer to take a paycut when the time comes?

Seeings as there's no chance it'll get a mention in the media, and the fact I've previously paid out on him, I think it's worthwhile mentioning Tom Murphy's game against the Dogs this afternoon.

He was bog in the first half of the game and played solidly in the second. His attack on the ball and basic confidence seem to be improving. He ran off of his opponent countless times to set up attack and provided strong contests in the air defensively.

So, they'll get rid of some of the kids. They have to lower their list size by ten by 2014 anyway.

If anything, GAJ deserves a payrise next contract negotiation. The guy is, dare I say it, God-like.

Hardly ironic.

Two things everyone always glosses over:

-- North never had a stadium deal. There wouldn't have been a brand new Metricon Stadium if North moved. We'd be playing out of the same shitty Carrara Oval that noone went to in the first place.

-- JB always said we may have to sell some home games in the short term until the AFL gains ownership of Docklands and/or we get a half-decent stadium deal.

Also, you support Hawthorn. So even though we will be selling two games to Tasmania, that's half of what Hawthorn sells.

[m]averick
22-06-2011, 01:38 PM
It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Two weeks for an elbow behind play
Four weeks for an open hand whack miles behind play
No weeks for a kick to the groin
No weeks for an elbow to the cheek, splitting it open
Two weeks for eye-gouging
Three weeks for a tackle.

FWIW, thought Corey's tackle on Steven was much, much worse than any other 'sling' tackles. Corey's was almost a spear in that Steven's head was driven into the ground, rather than the rest of the tackled players heads hitting the ground from momentum. But that only gets a reprimand?

Ridiculous

But I'm not defending the MRP - the whole system is a very bad joke.

I think Hawks will do alright though - only hope they learn something from last week and don't start kicking to Buddy every time now that he's back in.

In other news...the MRP/Tribunal system needs a complete overhaul, the Lewis verdict is another in a long line of ridiculous decisions.

I can't remember the incident that brought about the change to the current system, but we've had more than enough since to warrant another change

29-06-2011, 06:26 PM
Considering it is within the power of umpires to report players for staging for free kicks, I can't understand how it was Lewis who got suspended and not Monfries, or whoever the Essendon player was.

Having said that, given Selwood got four weeks for an open handed whack, I can't garner any sympathy for Lewis and the Hawks.

But yeah, MRP is definitely the worst it has ever been.

About 20 seconds later, the footage of Quentin Lynch strongarming Marc Murphy to the face/throat received only a reprimand and 45 points with an early plea. ****kkk? Then, Brett Thornton forcibly launches himself, headbutting Natanui and gets a reprimand and 70.31 points with an early plea.

The thornton one is what pisses me off the most.

Isn't precedence some sort of legal obligation in any justice type system. Surely an AFL player could sue over precedence not being allowed in disciplinary proceedings.

Just like at any time they could go to court over restraint of trade and win

Everyone in the media has written off the game plan based on 1 game against the pies. The 2nd quarter let us down and if we weren't so woeful in front of goal maybe we could've got something working. Hurts having Buddy triple teamed with no one else to pick up the slack.

And Riewoldt is a dirty player, whatever his record for B&F's and AA and all that crap. Only dirty players do shit like that knee

Very dissapointed this morning in the Kangas, the Saints game was an 8 point game and a must win.

To many players bombing to 1on3 contest to Petrie, and to many bad selections (Mckinley) we should of won until the team fell asleep just before halftime :(

If Kane Cornes could join his brother and retire this year that'd be awesome.

Subbing him on for Moore yesterday turned the game and his mistakes gifted the Lions the momentum.

On the other side of things - Jay Schulz kicking 7 and Matthew Lobbe doing well in the ruck was promising.

I just watched most of the Geelong Melbourne game. They are so good to watch, Geelong. Wojinski's run in the centre of the ground in the third quarter was marvelous. Also rewatching the 2008 GF because I'm in a footy mood. Amazed at how little the Geelong side has changed and how much our side has either due to injuries or not playing. We don't have anymore/don't have at the moment Bateman, Crawford, Robbie Campbell, Mark Williams, Stuart Dew, Renouf, Campbell Brown, Stephen Gilham. Even Hodge is out at the moment and Ellis has only featured in the side because of injuries.

Then you look at Geelong and the biggest difference they have compared to today is their coach and no Ablett. Haha. Then there's pretty much just Podsiadly, Duncan, West and Christensen and no Harley or Rooke.
