You'd think they'd try to price it competitively to lure people back from Bad Company 2.
Why would they do that? Millions are still going to buy it.

That's a ridiculous asking price. You'd think they'd try to price it competitively to lure people back from Bad Company 2.
Also worth noting that the BFBC2 map pack comes out the same day. Price: free.
(EDIT: not as much content though, really just unlocks for the game modes)

Well, I'm out. As someone mentioned in the article, Perfect Dark for 800 points or 1200 points on a game we're still waiting for a fix for... hmm tough.

They just announced the price of the upcoming Stimulus Package map pack - it's 1200 points (http://kotaku.com/5493218/modern-warfare-2-map-pack-also-features-ridiculous-price). A bit on the pricey side, to be honest, and two of those maps were already released for the original MW.
Waaaaay too pricey.
If they were to release the patch to search for local matches as well, I'd seriously consider it.
I have BFBC2 but haven't got round to installing it on the HDD. Enjoying Search & Destroy too much.

Any idea what the new maps are?

They are "Bailout", "Storm" and "Salvage". The two classic maps are "Crash" and "Overgrown".
Also, if anyone has a spare seven or eight minutes, look for a machinima called "No Russian" that's currently doing the rounds on YouTube. It's a short film featuring action from a few different parts of the game. Superbly shot and edited, it's a visual treat.

No doubt they'll be as poorly designed as the rest of the maps.

Just got the "Extreme Cruelty" Challenge emblem. Its the necklace with an ear, a severed finger and a claw on it.

Just watched the Inside Xbox preview of the MW2 stimulus package.
The three new maps look okay.

I hope its coming out on PC
Everytime I boot this game up I am reminded that I liked COD4 better and I should be playing that instead. So I do.
Can't quite put my finger on what the difference is but if I had to guess it would be no Hardcore Free for All...

I dont get the MW2 hatred thats around. I have played all the COD series and I love this just as much as the almighty COD4 that gets held on some pedistall.

I think it's a combination of leftover animosity from the prerelease controversies (e.g. no dedicated servers or lean, limit of 9v9), general dislike of Activision (e.g. US$60 price tag for the PC version) and the multiplayer bugs that seemed to plague the first few weeks of release.

So pretty much bullshit then.

I wouldn't say that.
I could see the argument for dedicated servers and bigger match sizes for PC (as long as the maps were balanced accordingly) and jacking up the price of the PC version just because they could did seem like a bit of a dick move. And that was before the game came out. Post-release, you started getting problems like unlimited ammo bugs (including AC130 ammo for killstreaks) that would spread themselves to other Xbox 360s, care package exploits, unbalanced knives and akimbo 1887 problems. Stuff like that kinda got in the way of making multiplayer an enjoyable experience for everybody.
But the main reason I started to prefer games like BC2 over MW2 was for their increased emphasis on teamwork and more varied gameplay. I'll be honest, I'm not the world's greatest trigger man, so this continued emphasis on K/D ratios wasn't fun, for me.

Buyer demand. Its capitalism 101 in reagards to the price. ( no different to DLC if you dont wanna buy it DONT)
Bugs in game, shit happens they should get over it. (on ps3 we had the no aussie hosts until patch) wouldnt effect my opinion of a game.
But in the end bar the dedicated servers its been fixed so why the hate still.

You should start playing Search & Destroy matches. Haven't played TDM, FFA, Domination and Demolition in ages.

Maybe it hasn't affected your opinion of the game, but it's probably affected quite a few others. Getting those players back into the game isn't just a matter of going "hey, we fixed those problems!" because those problems have substantially affected the perception of the game's quality in those gamers. Plus, you still have people who've really just moved on from pure deathmatch type gameplay.

I would join you, except I'm never sure if it's really you or your brother playing.

In a move that will surprise absolutely no one, Robert Bowling has revealed that it was Activision that set the pricing (http://kotaku.com/5501945/infinity-ward-points-finger-at-activision-for-modern-warfare-2-pack-pricing) for the Stimulus Package DLC.

Anyone know where I can buy cheap MS points? (for this map pack).
EDIT: The Gears 2 mega-pack was better value for 1800 points (IIRC). I might wait when this map pack is discounted (if ever).

I'll wait for the inevitable price drop on this dlc. A map pack should be 800 points. Price aside, I'd rather be playing BBC2 at the moment any ways.

Even with Local search I doubt I'd be bothered to play, all of the hardcore players will be raping with expert knowledge of all the maps and the best Weapon/Perk combos with all unlocks.

Been playing Hardcore Headquarters Pro today. Good fun as long as you don't get a team full of idiots stuck in TDM mode. Getting so many kills a round is also making lvling my weapons a lot easier.
Oh and finally hit 70 today. Loving the AK. ^_^

If they had that on PC i might have actually considered going prestige. Instead i'll now settle for unlocking my attachments and then moving onto giving Bad Company 2 a look in.
