Just want to clarify, if we start talking about what happened in a TV show that has aired overseas but not in Australia but make absolutely no reference to how we viewed it, that can get us in trouble still?
Sometimes I read plot summaries from various wikis to find out what happened in some TV shows that I can't be bothered watching. Or even spoilers from other forums, all gaining knowledge on what's happening without actually doing anything illegal. So if my knowledge on say.. a new Doctor Who episode was questioned, if I just linked to the Wiki to prove where I got the info I'd be fine?

As long as you include spoiler tags ;)

What's the stance on Wii Freeloaders/PS2 Boot discs (both which enable imports to be played) and discussions regarding custom firmwares on PSPs or jailbreaking iPhones?
I think that with this rule modified there's going to be a torrential rain of bannings.

That is covered in that paragraphs proceeding "Discussion of Software/Games/Movies/Music".
Basically, as long as its legitimately out somewhere, the assumption is that you have obtained it by legal means – unless you indicate otherwise.
If it has not be legitimately released anywhere, then questions will be asked on how you acquired it.

And this is where we get into that messy grey area, where you have to decide if discussion about the facilitators promotes piracy.

There are torrent sites out there which only carry legal/legitimate content.
It’s like the old discussion about MP3’s. You can find legal and illegal MP3’s all over the place. Discussion about legal MP3 sites (such as itunes) are fine, not so much for sites which offer pirated music.
I would just recommend to err on the side of caution, and omit the detail on how you obtained/watched/listened it.

So just so I'm clear on this, discussions on;
- where to get boot discs
- installing and configuring a torrent program
- installing custom firmware
- jailbreaking an iPhone
are all cool?

As long as it's legal by Australian law, then it's cool.

I ask mainly because I remember discussion on installing CFW on PSPs used to get deleted.
I can help people :D

Just quickly to address one of your examples.
While it is legal to pass on information about installing and configuring a torrent program. That is something, which as the rules state, is an exception that should be not discussed.
With regards to custom firmware on the PSP, what has been the previous stance on custom firmware on other devices, such as iPhones?
We'll try to keep it consistent across all platforms.

It's been one of those grey areas AFAIK. iPhone thread had plenty of discussion on jailbreaking, but I don't think it ever had a step by step guide on how to do it. Just names of programs that help in doing it.
I remember someone wanted to know how to burn a disc image to a CD, and that was promptly locked, with an immediate assumption of guilt.

I'll have to get back to you on the issue of custom firmware. I'll need to get contact some other people about that...

Ok, I've got word that modding talk will be allowed. You may give advice on how to mod PSP, iPhones etc, as modding hardware is legal in Australia.
What you choose do with the modded hardware of course, can go either way, but we won't assume guilt, unless you give us a reason to do so.
Stick to talk about homebrew and we're gravy.

I just illegally downloaded some newly released apps for free after they were cracked, so I don't have to pay for them.
My question is about the budget sir.
