I think you should start a thread, asking the question whether we should start a new thread and reference your post in this thread in the OP.

Be sure to add a poll!

Well STIFF SHIT! I'm the only one that has a copy of that photo!

Can a cube that does not last for any time at all, have a real existence?

Pai Mel

You mean like an ice cube?

As in, a solid object that exists instantaneously.

ie. it has no dimensionality in time, only space? Not in this universe. Time cannot be infinitely divided down to true instantaneity. Their are minimum quanta of units of time just as their are for space.

I have roughly $US95 in my PayPal account and I noticed the Aussie Dollar is finally below the one dollar mark. Is the Australian Dollar going to continue to fall or will it bounce back to over a dollar?

I am trying to take as much advantage of the conversion rate as possible.

Does Amazon UK not sell it? I haven't found any online stores cheaper than Amazon UK for Blu-ray Region B stuff.

But yeah should work as long as it is PAL or Region-Free NTSC.

All Blu-rays released for the UK market are compatible with our Blu-ray players. It's only US/JAP/ASIA releases where you have to check for region protection.

It's only about $12 from Amazon.

The DVD version is like 5x cheaper than Blu-ray. It's a cartoon so you won't notice any difference between Blu-ray or DVD. Well, the Blu-ray version will have more film grain, if they did a transfer from film to disc, but it won't really have more picture detail.

Is it against the law to give a cop the finger? It would depend on the jurisdiction and circumstances but generally it isn't.

We don't have freedom of speech in Australia, so yeah I'm sure they can pin something on you.
Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. In countries that do have 'freedom of speech' being offensive can still be a crime.

Freedom of Speech is not a trump card that overrules all other laws.

Who makes the most reliable fridges?

We may need to get another Fridge soon as our Maytag was tripping our power, and there's a lot of things wrong with it like cracked plastic drawers.

Best to go for the simplest fridge right? No hi-tech gizmos like ice-cube dispensers as these things just add to the number of things destined to break down.

Here's one for Vin-

Why is "my brother & I" the correct term over "me & my brother"? Things like "maybe he should of listened" are clearly wrong but what makes "me & my <noun>" bad English? Is it just a sentence structure holdover from one of the languages English spawned from?

Vindik8or
28-02-2012, 01:45 PM
It's because "I" is the subjective and "me" the objective version of the same thing. It is not incorrect to say "me & my brother" if they are the objects of a verb. Such as, "The teacher teaches me and my brother".

There is a simple check you can do: replace "me & my brother" in the sentence with "us". If it makes sense then it is correct. If "we" should be in its place, then you go with "my brother & I"

eg. "me & my brother (objective) went to the party" becomes "us (objective) went to the party"

it should be "we (subjective) went to the party" and thus "my brother & I (subjective) went to the party"

TrinityJayOne

Excellent work, you embiggen the language skills of us all.

dinopoke
28-02-2012, 05:55 PM
Instead of replacing it with 'us' you can also just remove '& my brother'. For example:

The teacher teaches I.

Me went to the party.

Vindik8or
28-02-2012, 06:29 PM
Or realise that english utilises subject-verb-object structure

My brother and I went fishing.

Me and my brother went fishing.

I can't be bothered looking up the reason why the first version is good grammar and the second bad, but there you have it. Maybe it's just rude to start a sentence with yourself.

Where do people buy their dvds/blurays from online? I usually wait until JB Hifi is having their sales to pick stuff up, but I'm getting impatient waiting for certain shows and movies to drop in price. Is there an online dvd/bluray equivalent of Book Depository (with free shipping)?

I suspect a package I was expecting in the mail has been lost. Where do I go to ask about it that isn't the original sender? The local post office? Or is there, like, a head post office thing I need to get in touch with?

Pai Mel
17-04-2012, 08:14 PM
https://contactus.auspost.com.au/

The formal way is to go to a local post office and ask for a customer complaint form. This is where the sender fills in details about the lost article, its value, where it was lodged, the recipient's details, etc.

If the sender is unwilling to lodge a customer complaint form, then you may do it yourself, and just ask the sender for the required details.

Even if the parcel was not registered or has no tracking information, it's good to make the complaint, so Australia Post can investigate if there are any problems with their service.

Here are a few possibilities why a parcel may not arrive at its destination address:

1. The sender did not post it.

2. The sender did not address it correctly.

3. The address may not be legible. The parcel will then be returned to the sender, or end up at the the dead letter office.

4. The parcel may have been delivered to the wrong address, and the recipient failed to repost it.

I'm heading over to Melbourne at the end of June and I'm trying to buy tickets to the collingwood vs eagles game at the MCG but the only ones I can find are in the blocks right next to the ground and I want to sit in the stands (seen plenty of games from the boundary, I wanna see one from up high). I even rang up Ticketek and they couldn't (or maybe wouldn't) sell me any tickets in the stands.

The game isn't until the end of June so I don't think the tickets would have been sold for the stands but I did see some stuff on the net about working being done on the great southern stand (where the bulk of the public reserve tickets are). Does anybody know about how tickets for the MCG are done? Are those seats under construction? Will they release more seats closer to the game?

Does anybody have an opinion on what the best CoD game for multiplayer is?

Spazzola
07-05-2012, 01:40 PM
MW1/2 has their fair share of fan boys praising the multiplayer. Though some people claim BlOps to be the more balanced title.

As for online population, MW3. Also, XboxAhoy's vids (http://www.youtube.com/user/XboxAhoy/videos?view=1) on MW3's mechanics seem to be showing that MW3 is turning out to be quite balanced.
