All it took was a complete wipe of the forums to get this thread into General Gaming...

As cool as Raiden was in MGS4, the extreme make-over of the year, he still has nothing on Big Boss.

Biggest dissapointment of E3 was seeing Raiden up and running in HD whilst Big Boss is still wallowing away on the PSP.

:(

Screw Big Boss. I think Raiden was a much better choice personally.

Wallowing?!

Kojima himself is directly involved in the making of Peace Walkers. At the moment (because we've seen nothing of Rising) I'm far more excited for Peace Walkers to be honest.

MGS: Rising is actually a totally different game to the usual franchise. The true sequel is coming to PSP where we can resume our sneaking fun.

And here we have gameplay footage of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker! (http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-metal-gear-solid-peace-walker/17-1433/) =D

Also, here's a demo of Peace Walker! (http://au.psp.ign.com/articles/102/1027904p1.html) Keep in mind that it's all in Japanese.

If you're talking about the last Metal Gear game Kojima was going to be involved with then yes. Otherwise, no.

New post!

I've had a fairly good go with the demo for Peace Walker now and I have to say that I much prefer these controls to the Portable Ops ones. The camera controls are mapped to the face buttons, the inventory is mapped to left and right buttons on the d-pad, crouch is mapped to down on the d-pad and the shooting is done with the L and R buttons. So far I've just been tooling around with the sneaking, CQCing and shooting and it all works wonderfully (once you get your head around using the camera properly).

Oh, and the game is absolutely gorgeous. The longer, story-focussed cutscenes are those delicious comic book scenes they used in Portable Ops, but they've added some very stylish in-game cutscenes too. The amount of VO work is stunning too. All codec conversations are voiced now! Woo! :D

I came off of playing MGS4 (GODLY) and picked up portable ops. REALLY wanted to like it, but yeah, the controls have been giving me the absolute s**ts compared to MGS4's brilliant controls.

I've finished MGS4 maybe four or so times, but there is something I have always wanted to do but for some reason or another never got around to, playing through the game while listening to the Metal Gear Solid Integral podcasts.

So tonight I made a start on it and I gotta say, I'm 5 podcasts in, and I am really enjoying this. Playing the game while listening to these is fast becoming my favourite gaming experience so far this gen. I expected that I would like them but I really didn't expect them to add that extra layer of depth to the game like they have. I've picked up on so many things that I didn't notice on previous plays through since listening to these.

Has anyone else listened to these? Do any other games have similar features? Could other games have similar features? It seems like the MGS series is really designed for extras like this, I can't imagine it working to well in other games.

I never did that ... went on to other games, tried the first episode seemed pretty cool, but yeah perhaps worth looking into.

It really starts to get good about 3 episodes in when they are guiding you though specific sections.

I just preordered the Metal Gear HD Collection Limited Edition.

Replayed MGS2 will be painful as hell.

Yeah, I'll be bypasing MGS2 (already own both versions of it) and moving on to replaying MGS 3, which I was already going to replay this year anyway.

I'm buying it for the PSP game (wonky controls and all) mainly.

The HD collection should arrive today and I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I can't wait to replay MGS2 (it might be my favourite one), I got really good at it on ps2 and can finish raiden and snakes bits in a few hours. Can't wait to go hunting for dog tags again I'm not even dreading the underwater/escort bit.

Not to say mgs3 won't be a blast as well, I'm totally going to take the end out early, I still have bad memories of fighting him properly the first time around, never again.

I remember doing this actually, was interesting for sure.

I only have good memories of that.

That is the arguably the best boss fight of any game ever.

I swear it took over half an hour & I stuffed up a lot so the 2nd time around just sniping him was so satisfying, After the first playthrough I usually like to speedrun mgs titles too.

The proper end battle is pretty crazy and tense I don't regret going through it or anything but yeah, definitely going to snipe the bugger early :)
