Yeah, so I've recently become addicted to House. I know what happens in terms of major events throughout the series (I read Wiki a lot) but I'm still only up to halfway through season two. I own seasons 1, 2, 3. Hopefully there's other fans on Hyper.

Great show, but most of the show follows the same format and everything that doesn't is crazy.

Yeah, I know. I could probably skip straight to season 3 and not miss any major events.

I've been obsessed for a while now, own seasons 1-4 on dvd can't wait for 5.

Re watching season 2 for about the 10th time, up to the second part of "Euphoria". Never gets old :)

Love house.

I love how it can follow the same consistent formula and yet never get boring.

I'm curious though, does anybody know the IRL reason behind The whole Cutner suicide thing? I mean it was just BAM. No lead up or nothing. Did he just crack the shits and bail, or have another movie to shoot or something?

Left to work with Obama.

They wanted it to be sudden so they could have it drive House crazy.

Was that in Season 6?

That was really intense. Out of nowhere.

Here is a spoiler.
Battlestar Galactica spoiler too!!It reminded me of Battlestar. Except Dee's was planned in advance. Cutner's had to be written in there. I was as shocked though.

Blake is right, check the dude's wiki.

I've been a House fan since the start, and have a massive hardon for Hugh Laurie.
If you've ever seen any British comedy he's ever done (Black Adder, etc.), then the transformation he goes through to play House is even more impressive.

I agree that the episodes follow a similar plotline (like most shows), but it's what happens to the main characters that makes you watch the show. I wouldn't recommend missing an episode just because you think nothing happens because you'll skip forward and be like "when did that happen", and when you do I'll be there, in your house to say "I told you so" before I steal a lock of your hair and run off into the night.

The first time I saw him in another role was in "Sense and Sensibility". I lol'd.

The last episode of the last season they aired was awesome. Not sure if this is spoilerish When House realised that everything he thought had happened was all halucinations(?), and remembered everything as it had actually happened, left me wishing I was watching it on DVD and could just put the next season on to see what happens next

I'm a huge Blackadder fan and seeing Hugh Laurie prance around as the Prince of Wales in series three, it's sometimes hard to believe this is the same actor.

I've lost interest in house since the episode with the woman who had scurvy and they diagnosed it through bruising in the toe nail. As opposed to oh, I don't know, bleeding gums.

Well I'm sure he'll get out when he manages to convince the psychiatrist that he's sane and they're crazy

I've lost interest in house...

Same, though mainly due to the predictable format everyone seems to love. I can watch the occasional episode to get my fix of the bitter horny old goat, but continual viewing would drive me nuts.

Though it is fun to try and guess which bit of the first 5 minutes comes back in the last 5 minutes to provide the correct diagnosis.

Still, it never stops amusing me that:
1) You have 5 or so doctors all taking care of 1 patient at a time
2) Said doctors do *everything* - surgery, running CT/MRI scans, even looking down the microscope

Having just watched episode 6, Known Unknowns, I'm in two minds about the direction of this season and the continued motivation of the actors.

On the one hand, you had Spencer and Morrison acting their ****ing shoes off in dealing with their onscreen marriage, but the continued banter between House, Wilson and Cutty just seemed forced. I don't know whether the latter was a result of shooting on location (and subsequent redubbing?), but some of Leonard's (Wilson) dialogue sounded as contrived as I've heard on this show.

Just a bit too inconsistent compared to the quality of episode that House usually delivers.
Disappointing.

I'm still only about halfway through season 5.

Kutner's still alive in where I'm up to.

Watching Season 5 right now and after the brilliance of season 4 its really dragging. Personally im still not really caring about these new people and the random inserts of the old crew are very odd and feel like theyre just put in to keep the characters around for later. I mean the front cover still shows the old team on the front and not the new. And yeah Wilson has also seemed to fall down a bit quality wise.

Oh and some of the plotlines seem familiar to older episodes.

^ This. It's a bit of a disappointment really. I also have read that Jennifer Morrison has opted not to renew her contract. I don't know if this is true or not.

Edit: Yep, it's been confirmed. Source: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b153151_late_news_jen_morrison_confirms_her.html

With how little screen time her and spencer get its not surprising.
EDIT: Doesnt look like it confirms too much.

Meh, I just googled it and it was the first "news" article about it that came up, so *right click, highlights properties, go go go!*. But it has been confirmed.

It will make sense the more you get into S6.

Without spoiling too much, they're reintroduced to create the backdrop for some very big things towards the end of S5.

If you haven't read any spoilers for the end of S5, it'll come out of nowhere, but I don't know (based on what you've already said) if "it" will redeem the slowness of the start of S5.

Man, I used to love House so much... despite claims every episode follows the same formula (which I guess are somewhat substantiated) House had the balls to do something very few shows would dare to attempt... fire the "staff" read: "popular cast". It's sad that it had IMO a negative effect on the show and to be honest IMO it made the show worse (I loved the orginal cast) but for what it's worth, at least they had the balls to do what every other show only threatens to do on the advertisements - remove a still popular cast for no other reason aside from the fact it's what the storyline demands. That's why I love, or used to love, House. (Despite the fact Omar Epps retains a semi-prominent role).
If fictional media entertainment is supposedly representative of RL then eventually I believe it has to progress to such non-conformity.
Anyway, I'm watching Season 5 again now (even though I've already watched the finale). Here's a question though - could House do that hip-hop dancing with his limpy leg? Does anyone know the episode? I say no, it seems contrived and gimmicky. Boo.

S6E9, "Wilson", is one of the best yet.

The episode follows Wilson around as a day in the life of the Head of Oncology. It delivers quite an insight into what Wilson actually does in his day-to-day work, and is very important in establishing the changes House's personality has made this season.

Good. they really needed to explore the other characters from a perspective other than houses. Hoping season 6 follows on from the good end of season 5 and doesnt wither to the quality of what the rest of season 5 was like.

Agreed.

minor spoiler

Several times during the Wilson episode you see House & his team galavanting around the hospital performing tests and so forth and it's utterly hilarious without the context -- yet Wilson just accepts this as part of House's job
