So, lets get a general MvC2 thread going. I used to own it on DC, but sold it to NotMatt at an AVCon. I'll be grabbing it for PSN when it hits in August. Anyway, I now have press access to Capcom Europe, so here's some Iron Man & MegaMan pics that went up today.

I'm so shit at this game but I don't care cos it's fuuuuuuun. Now to add predictable tags to the thread.

There's a few videos too, I might upload them later.
I've got it on DC but the controllers suck for these type of fighters so I miiiight have to download this for 360 to make the most of my sticks (not that SF4 isn't still being played, just for an alternative)

Can't wait! The more fighters that come out, the more I can justify my spend on the SF4 TE stick. That and this was the only fighter I ever used to play at the arcade.
Oh how I wish they did a 'HD Remix' on this one though.

Had a ball with Hiredman and CPS2/UC1 tonight despite getting my arse whalloped. I must admit to button mashing mostly as I had no ideas of the moves for most players.
Need to spend some time in training but damn its fun!
Yep was fun =]
Played in 16:9 with the default filter, it actually looks pretty good on the big tv. When I play on my monitor I think I prefer 4:3 with original sprites. Looking at the filtered sprites up close is kinda weird.

I picked it up too, started off embarrassingly bad but I think I'm just about back to how bad I was before :P Looks decent and plays just as I remember it, although were the individual supers always this easy to do? Oh it's also nice not having to unlock all the characters.

Did they fix the sides of stages?
They're better than they were in the PSN demo, couldn't see any tiles or whatever. There is a floating propeller in one stage that looks a bit weird though.

I can't find it on the PSN store either. It's a shame, because I was really looking forward to this on the PS3.
(Also, the Fat Princess demo is conspicuously absent...)
EDIT: What's that, MvC2? You want me to try the demo? Sure! Wait, you mean to say that the entire singleplayer mode is unavailable in demo mode, along with all game modes other than local multiplayer? Well, you know, I've got better things to spend my 1200MSP on anyway.

I couldn't find that, either. Doesn't look like there's anything on PSN.
I ended up getting it on 360 anyway after I remembered that this game uses four buttons for fighting, rather than the six that makes SSF2THDROMGWTFBBQ so unplayable on the 360 controller.

I just d/led it, played two bouts and quickly realised I have no idea what I am doing.
I think I need a manual.
:P
There's a bit of a guide in the options menu.
Just a few things that should get you started:
-each character has a launcher and a magic series air combo, which is usually LP>LK>MP>MK>HP/HK/special/super
-if you have 2 or more bars, you can cancel one super into another one just by hitting another character's super before the first one finishes.
-mess around with assists, they give you more projectiles on screen, more anti-airs, easy ways to set up combos, and so on.
At a really basic level, you can use pretty much any character by dashing in, doing say a crouching LK into launcher, air combo, then a super or special move. Then build up some strategies with assists to cover your ass, and then move onto slightly trickier stuff.

If not can I please have tips for my next Pitfighter tourney ; )

LOL. It's just magic series and DHCs, like if they had a trial mode similar to SF4, they would probably be the first 2 things they get you to do. And I can't do much more than that at the moment tbh >_> A couple of tricks from Marvel 1, still learning some other stuff.

Wow, after playing and getting used to SF4 i'm finding it so hard to get back into this purely because of how differently it plays. And how do I not remember there only being 4 attack types?!
I went with my old team of Akuma, Wolverine and Spiderman and it didn't take me long to get into the swing of things (pun intended).
Looking forward to some online matches guys.

After getting raped in Virtual On:OT and Street Fighter 4 online by half of Japan, I think I'll be giving this a miss. Downloaded the demo though, it would have been really nice to see the sprites redrawn in HD.

Gosh this game is fantastic! I still suck, but I'm really enjoying it and I've looked up some FAQs and have officially won 2/6 matches online ^^
Also the final boss in arcade...WTF? I got to his final form - I think, the big one - and got slaughtered!
Its soooooooo good and so action packed! :D
OMG 10255th on the weekly leaderboard! 1500 ranking with 13w 6l! So much fun! (now I keep losing :()
I might buy it eventually, just to see what all the fuss is about, but it seems far too technical for me to really want to delve into its mechanics. Three person teams with assists and supers flying all over the place... I could get into Street Fighter because the movelist is very simple, and it's more about the strategies and mind games than the execution. With Tekken 6:BR coming out soon, I'll have my hands full trying to become slightly proficient at that, and I think MVC2 might be too many baskets, not enough eggs. If I had roommates, I'd probably cave, but right now I'm only playing online, and it's all a bit much.

MvC2 is one of those games where you still have a ball even if you aren't executing everything you want to. It is so chaotic and the entire normal move list is easily translated into long combos without needing stupid levels of timing. It is noob friendly - I feel - while providing enough complexity to reward extended play.
Jumped in on a few player matches tonight and did okay. Winning 4 out of the 6 games I played.
I also found what I feel is a nice way to familiarise yourself with characters you want to use. Spend some time in training sussing out their moveset and then play arcade mode with three of that same character. It maximises the time you spend with the character without the distraction of having to adapt to other characters you are also unfamiliar with. Once you get to the end of Arcade mode you will feel pretty comfortable with the character you've chosen.
As a relative MvC2 noob I've found this technique of great value.
I haven't been on for a few days, but should be able to jump on this afternoon and later tonight. Who's in for a Hyper lobby?

Have just started making use of assists in my combos. Still getting the hang of things but I will say I absolutely love Sentinal's (feels weird saying that as though it is a name) ground attack as a lead in to a pummelling. :)
Yeah that one is pretty good as it covers the whole screen slowly, so it lets you move around. Projectile is also great as a launcher that you can hit confirm while blocking, or hit during other moves. What I've been doing lately is trying to use Psylocke's anti-air assist in the middle of combos, it's kinda similar to Sent's A-assist. You can figure out what you need after a while, like you wouldn't use 2 assists that do the same thing, one of them can be switched out for a zoning type. Most characters have 1 good assist (I think), but Sent def has 2.

I have been having some awesome matches online (thanks to some even experience matchups - good to see there are plenty of people out there as inexperienced as me!)
Some people seem to jump on too early, however - I had this hilarious match where the other guy must have been screaming at the television, shit was just flying all over the screen (and he was alllll the way over the other side of the screen) and he could do nothing...it was so hilarious! (Damn I'm loving Sentinel! It was the first - probably only - time I got to practically apply HSF, HP xx HSF)
Course, some of you more experienced folk would get this a lot, but this is new to me k!

Wow. I just realised the Juggernaut glitch still works. If you don't know, you use his Cyttorak Power-Up (f, d, df PP) and then switch him out before it wears off. When you switch him back in, all his attacks will permanently give +50% damage. The old jumping HP, LP, LP, Headcrush combo can just about take out a weaker character in one go. Still can't get his headcrush to hit more than 4 times though.

I haven't actually got the game myself yet but just playing it at a meetup tonight, I'm coming up with gimmick teams to keep myself amused before I can be bothered learning some ridiculous top tier fag team. Thusfar I've created:
Team Street Charge Fighter: Guile, Charlie, Bison
Team BlazBlue: Spiral (V-13), Colossus (IRON TAGERRR), Strider (BANGGG!!!)
Team Pedo: Roll, B.B. Hood, Tron Bonne
Street Charge Fighter actually works quite well because with Guile/Charlie as a projectile/AA assist, you have that aspect covered. Bison also has an assist where he makes a ball of energy that expands outward which keeps the blockstring into Sonic Boom shenanigans going. Team BlazBlue would have worked out better if Lilith were in it, she'd make a good Rachel replacement somewhat then. The Bang connection with Strider is really just the fact they're both manly ninjas with scarves.
Team Pedo is just humiliating fun.
EDIT: Just had a brain wave - Blackheart as Black Beast Ragna and Jill Valentine as Noel Vermillion!
