Yeah, we all need a place to show off our e-peen every now and then. If you've just conquered a particularly difficult achievement, want to invite the scorn of your peers by showing them your gamerwhored 1000/1000 in Hannah Montana, or want to show off your single greatest 'trophy' achievement, then here's the thread for you.

Aaaand seeing as I made the thread, I'll get started.

I just finished トラスティベル ~ショパンの夢~ with 1000/1000. Feels kinda strange to have 2000/2000 for a single game (Trusty Bell/Eternal Sonata), but the four playthroughs in English and Japanese were fun.

My single most prized achievement is the Level 75 Red Mage achievement from Final Fantasy XI. Took 900 hours to obtain, but I wasn't playing just to unlock the 30 point achievement... That would be stupid. Having unlocked it is just a little permanent reminder of the many wasted hours I put into the game.

So... what's your most prized achievement? Hardest to unlock? Latest accomplishement?

Probably not much but certainly my most memorable - when you leave a landmine after sneaking up on someone and looting their stuff in Fallout 3

No doubt for me was 100% Lego Star Wars. Not because it was hard, just because it became something of an obsession. I was seeing studs in my dreams. And not in a sexy way.

Probably the hardest achievement I've unlocked is finishing Through The Fire Flames on Expert in Guitar Hero III.

For that, Spud of the Zilla Tribe, you have my eternal respect. That is a truly astonishing achievement.

I'll always be fond of my "Five star every song on Expert" achievements in GH2 and 3, along with their respective "Finish the hardest song in the game on Expert" ones.

Also in DMC4 for the 'Throne of Glory' achievement (finish every game mode, of which there are about eight) I obviously had to put a bit of effort to get that one, so it sticks in my mind too.

No doubt for me was 100% Lego Star Wars. Not because it was hard, just because it became something of an obsession. I was seeing studs in my dreams. And not in a sexy way.

I think I posted this before, but I was working towards getting that in the game, and thought I had done absolutely everything in the game, my completion rate actually said 100% in the game...but I didn't hear the achievement pop. :( Found out later what I did wrong though (apparently I didn't make a custom character or some crap)

I had to look this one up on youtube and... I have no idea how you did it. It looks finger-bleedingly insanely fast. Congrats! :D

It's too bad there isn't an achievement for The Devil Went Down To Georgia...because Spud would have that one too. >_> And it'd be about a hundred times more valuable than the Through The Fire And Flames one.

Also looking back I'm quite happy with the 1000/1000 I got in Dead Space, all the achievements I found actually fun to get, unlike quite a few other games. Plus Epic Tier 3 Engineer is good on it's own just for the lulz.

Completing Uncharted on Crushing difficulty...

OH WAIT THIS IS FOR 360 ONLY HUH? :p

In that case... Defeating Raam in GoW on Hardcore difficulty by myself. ****in' Krill. Probably completing all the achievements on the original Viva Pinata too.

I could probably finish up Mass Effect's achievements if I had the will too, and Fallout 3's if I could spare the cash to purchase Operation Anchorage and Point Lookout.

Sweet jesus!

My best is probably the "Midnight Club" achievement in GTA4 for finishing an online race without taking damage. Not rigged with friends and not a solo race or anything, I was just extremely lucky to get a good start from the pack. GTA races in that game are usually dirtier than Christopher Skase's accountant.

Hey I've done this as well, and without using the gun at the back of the train. Just used the longshot and the torque bow.

I almost got to Raam on insane difficulty by myself as well but I couldn't get past the bit on the train where you've got to shoot down the incoming reavers with the fixed chain guns.

I've finished Gears of War 2 on insane by myself but the end boss was no Raam.

You know those kids who played games 'til they got everything? Yeah, I never grew out of that. Achievements are a very bad thing for me.

Games with I have attained 100% achievements in...

-Rock Band 2
-Burnout Paradise
-Rez
-Mass Effect
-Prince of Persia
-Fallout 3
-Assassin's Creed
-Bioshock
-Monkey Island: SE
-Penny Arcade Episode 1
-Dead Space

Most notable achievements...

-Steel Bladder (Rock Band 2): Finish the endless setlist without pausing or failing

-Suicide Missionary (Gears of War 2): Finish the campaign on Insane

-Commando (Gears of War): Finish the campaign on Insane

-Party Animal (Burnout Paradise): Beat 250 online challenges

-Key To The City (GTA IV): 100% the game

Looking forward to getting the achievements for finishing RE5 and Dead Space on their hardest difficulties next. Still, if we're talking about bragging rights, does anyone have 100% on Ikaruga? Pretty sure I'd worship anyone who can A rank all the missions or beat the game without continuing.

I have a few that were hard to get but none that I would really be 'proud' of, all of mine are pretty stock standard. Some of the GoW1 weapon achieves online took some time.

Oh actually 100% a song in co-op in GH2. The reason is because at the time I only had the game, no guitar and me and a mate tried so very hard with the controllers on Cherry Pie. Eventually got it but fark me it took some time.

Bronze, Cer & I deserve a medal for getting 1000 GS in Phantasy Star Universe. What a stinking turd of a game.

My biggest achievement thus far is probably 100% completing Virtual-On Ontario Tengram. Hard game! I just downloaded Rez & Ikaruga too... wtf am I doing to myself?! The others I've completely done were pretty easy (Viva Pinata, one DLC achieve left for Beautiful Katamari, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, SEGA MD Ultimate Collection) and I'll be really happy when I get all the achieves for DW: Gundam because I've pumped so many goddamn hours into that game and still only have 750! If I get half the achievements for Mr Driller, Ikaruga, Hexic or Geometry Wars I'll be super happy.

Larz: It's Eternal Sonata :p Be moar weeaboo!

You can't load a save after patching, you can only get it with a new game after it's been patched. At least, that's what I thought? Either way, got it legitimately.

So... Most prized achievements...

Gv-kv4QJnV8

Just joking. But it's seriously the only game I've got full achievement points on. I just seem to stop caring after playing games for a while and collecting random objects purely for achievements (Flags in AC for example) seems like a waste. The only games I tend to play for a while are the skill based ones, but in the end I decide it's a lot of wasted time perfecting the skills that are going to be useless when I start playing other games (although, I did notice my reaction times improve when playing RB/GH after playing Ninja Gaiden 2 for a while).

I'll always be fond of my "Five star every song on Expert" achievements in GH2 and 3, along with their respective "Finish the hardest song in the game on Expert" ones.I'm still trying to get to the point where I can finish songs on Expert! :(

Also in DMC4 for the 'Throne of Glory' achievement (finish every game mode, of which there are about eight) I obviously had to put a bit of effort to get that one, so it sticks in my mind too.I played through so much of the game and had fun, but DMC4 just isn't as fun to replay as DMC3 or DMC1. Maybe I've had too much devil in me... (or maybe it's because I enjoy playing Dante so much, that I want to stab myself in the dick when I have to play as Nero).

AranchineD
24-07-2009, 07:57 PM
Funnily enough I liked playing as Nero more than Dante. >_> (Mostly because I suck at getting combos with Dante)

Anyway, I just got the 'Finish Hard Boiled' achievement in Stranglehold, and now I'm never going to play the game on that difficulty again. Last boss(es) just took me at least 30-40 tries, and I had to find an exact perfect path through that section just to do finally do it (and then there'd ALWAYS be some little ****er who'd come out of a door behind me without me seeing and one hit me with a melee attack.) But well, another achievement with a bit of pain behind getting it. There you go.

actually there is/was a glitch that let you do it by loading a save just before the final boss. it was to do with the patch not properly installing the first time (happened to a lot of people). you install it properly when you are at the end then turn vita chambers off and you get the achievement when you beat the game. not sure if it is fixed now though. i just bought the game and i'm playing on hard with VC off, trying to get all achievements in one playthrough. it's kicking my ass :p

Actually I think the most unexpectedly difficult achievement I've come across so far is Beat The Meatflag in Gears of War 2.

All you need to do is capture the flag 10 times in a public match, but... since you're in public mode, you don't get to choose the Submission gametype directly, you have to choose the Submission / Guardian combo. And that means going with whatever game type 9 other people vote for (here's a hint, 90% of the time, it won't be Submission). Oh, and it's one capture to win a round, 2 round match. So if you're not the guy to get the flag? Game over.

When I first started playing the Guardian / Submission game type I ended up playing for about 8 or 9 hours in one day over the weekend. Each match lasted probably 15 to 20 minutes. I got into ONE Submission match. Currently I'm only halfway to that achievement.

I think I'm getting close to this one, but I'm proudest of getting in the 'screamer' achievement in Fifa 09. I reckon I took more then 1000 long range shots, and finally got one in! Working on free kicks now, I look at tutorials but I struggle with them still.

The 20 player club game achievement on Fifa 09. It took so much organising trying to get people around the world to be online at the same time. Then we had to try and get both teams of ten into the same ranked game....yeah, it wasn't easy.

And I'm pretty proud of my squad achievement on BF: Bad Company, having twenty team mates respawn on you without dying.

Mass Effect + DLC
Assassins Creed

Resident Evil 5
Tomb Raider Legend

Doom
Arkadian Warriors
Magic: The Gathering (also ranked 700 out of 56,000 on the 1v1 leader board :D )
Cloning Clyde
Heavy Weapon

I have a ton of games where I only have a few achievements left to go, I am gradually chipping away at them. Currently working on the last 7 for Prototype.

I don't understand why or how you could play Eternal Sonata through at least twice on two separate versions. It got so boring!

I took the time to master the immensely enjoyable battle system that only fully unlocks in the hidden Mysterious Unison dungeon at the end of the game. You're also missing out on a massive chunk of content in the first playthrough that only unlocks on your second, punishingly difficult playthrough, such as the final Dolce fight, many score piece NPC's, the Chord sidequest, the Baroque sidequest, the Xylophone Tower trading chain, and the game-long EZI collection quest.

Short answer: I gave the game a chance, and it won me over.

it's also incredibly pathetic considering how bad that game is.

Hey guess what Lex? Your favourite game is shit. Every game that you like is terrible. It's incredibly pathetic that you play these shit games when you could be playing something good like Eternal Sonata.

Wait... He can get the achievements TWICE by doing it again on a Jap copy? THAT'S CHEATING, YOU BASTARD!

You know why I'm living in Japan, right? I'm learning Japanese.

I picked up Trusty Bell because I knew the general gist of the plot from playing Eternal Sonata, and it would make it easier on me to translate as I played.

The entire reason I bought and finished Trusty Bell was for translation practice. The second Japanese playthrough? That's just because I was enjoying it so much, even on my fourth overall playthrough. I would have done it even without the achievements. Hell, I didn't even know they'd double up when I bought it.

I'm planning to buy [eM] -eNCHANT arM- (Enchanted Arms) for exactly the same reason. I've played it in English, know the general plot and gameplay mechanics, so it should make it easier for me to translate.

Back to Achievement discussion, I suppose.

Anyone else not a fan of the new achievement browser built into the latest NXE update? Makes it harder to view them at a glance. Sure it's snappy, but it's not convenient. The summary overview page is a nice touch though. Reminds me of the top of the achievement page on the old 'blades' interface.

Just keep at it, most of it is luck. Don't rush, but try and be as quick as you can. The longer you wait the more enemies will be on the screen. If you notice you will run into enemies will moving along the wall, break off and do a different section. If you are patient enough to sit there for a few hours it will happen.

Not only that but I went for the live weather achievment in the rain and for some reason it bugged out and I didn't get it. Resisting temptation to snap disc!

1000/1000 for Halo 3 (well it used to be before they added more achievements)

Legendary was ****ing hard.

I found Legendary not that hard myself but rather getting the achievements in multiplayer hard (Killing frenzy etc). I started after it was well established and getting second account generals doing lone wolves made it tougher :/

Well yeah Kill Frenzy was rediculous and I set up a game with some other people here to get that one done.

I found Legendary hard but it didn't really take too long to finish the whole campaign again thinking about it.

I actually finished one of the Vidmaster achievements on Halo 3 while on my brother's account. The one where you have to use the Ghosts on the final level? Me and 3 other guys, the most fun I've had in Halo 3 ever.

That's pretty cool. It was extremely frustrating as one person would always die on the final bit because he was either too slow or too fast :/

Haha, it took us nearly 2 hours. I think we had to have one of the skulls turned on... One dies, all dies? Seriously, it was great fun. Got to know the guys I was playing with a bit better too, as we'd all be talking shit through it all.

The single player was pretty ordinary and if anything was merely a tutorial and back story for the real deal - The Neromius War which was where I clocked up 99% of my time.

Yes I had read a post by a mod on the Sega forums that the server was being shutdown on the 6th of January 2010, who knows if it is true or not.

That was one of the main reasons the members of our squad have been hitting it pretty hard, spending 30+ hours the last few weekends.

I just finished Demon Castle Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight with all achievements.

Was planning to give the 'Metroidvanias' a rest after finishing Shadow Complex twice, then completing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night to 200.6% with a Richter playthrough on Friday.

...But then I got a really crazy urge to play through it again, so I nabbed the Japanese version, and just knocked that over with 200.6% (6 hours, 17 minutes) and a Richter speedrun through to the inverted castle boss (21 minutes).

Aaaand now I have a completely nonsense urge to play through Shadow Complex again. What the hell?
