This has happened in about the past week, I go on another forum too and sometimes that window will change to a completely different site on me. It's happened twice, one to Chinese sexual culture and one to some SAS.com something or other about Raybans...I exited the second one before it had a chance to load up. Is it the site doing this or is it a virus? My McAfee hasn't been going off telling me I have any virii. However I can't update it because I'm on dialup, I've had this problem ever since it became out of date maybe a year ago.

You got spyware. Update McAfee or download a spyware remover.

Yeah, grab Adaware or Spybot, and stay away from the horse porn sites.

Variety's the spice of life. I like a wide selection. Sometimes I'm in the mood for nasty close-ups, sometimes I like them arty and air-brushed. Sometimes it's a spread brown-eye kind of night, sometimes it's girl-on-girl time. Sometimes a steamy letter will do, sometimes - not often, but sometimes - I like the idea of a chick with a horse.

Oh, rubbish. You just hate on them because they are popular.

Though, with your horseporn downloading experience, maybe I should trust you...

Why did they go crap?
I've been off Adaware for a while now, not only because their program has become a resource hog ever since they revamped it but also because it fails to detect any of my infected files. I still use Spybot though, imo its still good but Malwarebytes is a decent free backup plan that picks up stuff that Spybot didn't.

Also Serenity I'm sure you could still update the McAfee signatures, I've managed 40mb in 2 hours on dialup :)

Why did they go crap?

Because they fail to find most of the stuff they are supposed to detect!

The same cookie
every
single
scan.
Spybot does the same thing too.

Yeah, it didn't pick up anything except for something in my phone tools software and I doubt that'd be related. I have Malwarebytes thanks to Fletch. I don't think anything's fixed tbh so I'm really scared to go on Firefox or IE and only as a last resort will I.

I'd try deleting all my history, cache & cookies then on both programs or doing fresh reinstalls for each browser. If Malwarebytes didn't detect anything at all and the only issue is some link redirecting and McAfee is too outdated (which should really be updated, anything is possible with dialup if you're willing to let it run overnight) I wouldn't say the problem is too severe

I let it run overnight trying to update McAfee, it jams every single time in the exact same spot, nothing I can do about it. I just resigned myself to the fact this bastard of a problem will keep popping up. :(
