So we have confirmation that there'll be a sequel to not only a very enjoyable game in general, but also perhaps one of the best examples of video game storytelling that I've ever experienced.

And if you don't know what I'm talking about, I of course mean

THE DARKNESS

Only problem with the sequel?

Starbreeze aren't making it. (http://www.vg247.com/2009/07/27/starbreeze-not-developing-the-darkness-sequel/)

I'll be interested to see which developer is actually going to be making the game.

If Raven make the sequel I'll cry.

No Starbreeze?! Wha?

My thoughts on this are troubled indeed.

I'm approaching this development with cautious optimism.

See, the ending of the first Darkness game ruined it for me. I'd be interested to see what sort of story they do for it and to see if they bring the girlfriend back.

It'll be 15 hours of watching the TV with her on the lounge.

The no Starbreeze thing is a big issue in my books. Not saying another developer can't pull it off, just that it makes me cautious.

Darkness was a very Starbreeze game if you get my meaning.

Makes you wonder how many Hentai game publishers played it and thought to themselves "What a missed opportunity for tentacle action".

Did you see the Japanese version? There was some freaky shit right here.

I mostly enjoyed the first game, but an infuriating boss encounter turned me off the game and I never finished it.

Towards the end when your jeep gets overturned and you need to shoot a giant enemy with a machinegun constantly. No matter what I tried, I constantly failed and every FAQ or forum post I found said "shoot the head" which I did. I spent at least half an hour retrying the same 2-3 minute sequence and could not pass it. What annoyed me the most was that it was a stupid filler sequence and not part of the core gameplay.

Perhaps another developer can improve on the formula. Oh and I disliked how reloading your guns destroyed all the ammo left in the magazine.

I remember that part. It was pretty aggravating.

From the point of view of a game, it was annoying, but it seems the designers were probably going for a more realistic approach (you're not going to get all the bullets out of one magazine and put them in the new one. It would just take too long).

Protip for all people making games ever. Realism sucks. It is tedious and boring and never ever fun.

Depends on what it is and the person playing the game.

Unless you're this breed of neckbeard, drawing up fake flight plans for a fake air-traffic control officer to fly your fake plane, realism is not for you.

I thought people liked this mechanic in FPS games. It mean that you had to balance the choice if whether or not to reload to a full magazine and lose your current mag or go on with what you have and hope that your don't run our mid combat. It's certainly more interesting then just hitting reload after every gun fight.

I loved The Darkness, had no idea what it was about but the demo sucked me in and I bought it on PS3 when I saw it cheap.

If the new developers can create the same atmosphere as the first game then it should be alright.

I have nothing to say really other than I loved the 1st one and I'm very happy we'll actually see a sequel.

Starbreeze are amazing though. We'll see what happens...
