I don't own a 360 but have been gifted a old mk.1 black and green XBOX and it's pretty cool.

Use this thread to recommend games, reminisce, or use it to get rid of that old Morrowind GOTY Xbox game my way.

Playing HL2 at the moment; then onto (in no particular order):

Jade Empire
KOTOR2

As a card-carrying member of the Easy level of gameplay I feel that game may cause more grief than what it is worth.

I also have:

Forza MS
MoH:Frontline
Project Zero

and other lesser titles of the Harry Potter Quidditch variety.

Fondest memories of the old black box would probably be:

+the two KOTOR games - because both are just great RPGs
+Unreal Championship 2 - completely brilliant in every way, and shows that shooters are only crappy or have poor controls on console if the developers are lazy ****s
+Crimson Skies - ZEPPELINS THAT SHOOT LIGHTNING AT YOU, BIG ROBOT CRAB
+Thief 3
+Beyond Good & Evil - these two not XBOX exclusives, of course, but they were the console I played them on
+Panzer Dragoon Orta - just a beautiful game all round, and with some brilliant almost-but-not-quite on-rails shooter gameplay
+Chronicles Of Riddick - best film-to-game adaptation ever. But since that isn't saying much, let's just say one of the best FPS games ever.
+DOA2: Ultimate - One of the best entries in the series, and not simply because each of the females has over 20 costumes for you to perve on, I mean, unlock

And, as Pauly said, Ninja Gaiden. Perhaps my favourite game on the console, I've finished it so many times, and never even remotely got bored with it.

Panzer Dragoon Orta is at my local video shop ex-rental buy section.

Worth it?

I'd say definitely yes, but it depends on whether you're into those kinds of games or not, you might love it, or you could just find the whole thing boring. Still, I'm assuming it's cheap, so what's the harm anyway? >_>

ninja gaiden definitely has a learning curve. once you learn, it becomes much easier, albeit still damn challenging.

I found this Xbox to be great. My original console I collected for was the GCN but when I did get to the Xbox and finally start playing some Forza and Halo, I realised what I missed out on. Mine never broke either.

I remember borrowing my cousins Xbox so I could play Halo 2 during my HSC. The original Xbox controller is the biggest piece of shit I have ever put my hands on, how did people manage to use it?

I'm glad the 360 controller is much better. In fact, the 360 controller is the best I have ever used.

I don't know, it's sometimes satisfying to have a big chunky controller in yuor hands.

Hmm, Halo certainly goes up on the list and the countless hours lost to MP (like constant double knockouts with AR followed by a melee).
Jet Set Radio Future was also a lot of fun (in fact - you interested sausage? Also have the dvd remote)

You live in NZ, right?
No, it's definitely not worth it. The game is rubbish.
...which video shop has it? :p

Provided you have 3 friends and 4 controllers, Mashed is another game that's well worth picking up. Hit up your nearest EB Games, they should be able to get you a pre-owned copy from another store (it's how I got mine). Mashed Fully Loaded is a bit harder to come by but has more tracks and more cars. Other than that, try to hunt down a copy of Jet Set Radio Future - it's quirky, has a great soundtrack and isn't bad to play either. Any of the Splinter Cells on Xbox are worth a look (Chaos Theory in particular), and if you're willing to drop $90 on a last-gen game, then Downtown Plaza EB Games in Hamilton have a brand new copy of Psychonauts somewhere in store.

Theif 3 - Everything about it is awesome, especially the Shalebridge Cradle.

KOTOR 1&2 - I didn't see any of the twists coming!

Soul Calibur 2 - If you have this (and it must be the XBOX version) play as Spawn during Survival or something and make sure you get on the Top Players chart. While entering your name, Spawn's last 2 seconds of his victory animation will loop over and over which is just him arching his whole body backwards to let out a huge laugh. Normally it's fine, but when it's on a continuous loop it's one of the most odd things I've seen in a video game.

The original Xbox was great while my PC was lacking, now I don't think I'll ever use it again outside of nostalgia.

Yes. Yes times a thousand.

KOTOR and Burnout 3 were my favourite games on the ol' chunky black box. Both ate up a lot of my time.

I'm glad rep is gone, so I can admit that I've never played a Thief game.

You honestly haven't missed much. Thief III is a mediocre game with one level near the end that will turn you into a dribbling New Games Journalist if you play it.

As for original XBox games you should play, the best way to figure that out is to look for the Team Ninja seal of quality.

Also, Shenmue II. Still the best open-world game ever made.

I told my brother to play Thief, so he got a pack with 2 and 3 in it.
I watched him play a level in 3, so that kinda counts.

Before I disregard your opinion completely please tell me you played on the hardest difficulty level in the game.

It's a slightly-streamlined-but-not-for-the-worse version of the previous two games, and the only complaint I find reasonable is that the levels are too small, but which I didn't notice because they were still extremely detailed anyway.

haha no worries mate; the game is currently at Huntly Video Ezy on State Highway One next to the Maccas, service station, KFC and the turnoff to the Tainui Bridge.

Have Halo on PC and Halo 2 on Xbox. May be interested in Fable if you're willing to swap PC games for it. As above; pm me for a list of my games.

My Xbox has a busted drive tray, damn it. Its stuck open. It has a copy of V8 Supercars 3 stuck inside the box, LOL! I have about 50-60 Xbox games, the legacy of living opposite a Cash Converters!

Fave Games:

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection: SF3 Third Strike and Hyper SF2, which is an amalgamation of all 5 SF2 editions, one one disc. Brilliant, and 360 BC so I can use my stick!

Oddworld: Strangers Wrath: Never played anything quite like this. You run around in third person, but switch to 1st to fire live ammo you'va captured at enemies! Oh, you playas a lone ranging lion, and everyone else is ol' west talking animals! Oddworld Wild West-Fantastic. Fairly repetitive, but great.

NBA Street VOL. 2: So, so much fun. Crazy 3 on 3 basketball with tricks and stupid dunks aplenty, and before they ruined things with the crappy trick stick in 3.

Burnout 3: Takedown: Buning down the street, smashing doodz into walls. Whats not to love? Woulda loved to play this online.

Guilty Gear X2 #Reload: Wow. Just. Wow. HD 2D fighing insanity. Not 360 BC compatible in PAL, but is in NTSC. ****ers.

Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay: So good, they remade it.

Top Spin: Great controls, great tennis. Stupid risk shots, though. Just play with a mate and agree not to use them.

Must look into getting mine fixed. Can get a 2nd hand one for 40 bucks but my save data and music.......
