User Titles

Obviously, the mods got rid of publically displayed post counts so everyone would appear equal and people wouldn't think one user was inferior to another just because of the postcount.

If that's the case, why are there still User Titles?

If you see the word 'Croc', you know that person has less than 50 posts. 'Crash Bandicoot', that's 50-100. And so on.

What's the point of getting rid of public postcounts if these remain? It seems rather stupid and contradictory. I think the best solution would be to let everyone do a custom one from the start.

Actually, I don't know. I'm not sure we changed it, I'll bring it up with the other mods. As far as I know we totally overlooked custom titles >_>

If you view someone's user profile you can see how many posts they have and mock them for their forum inexperience, so whether you've memorised the posts per title or not is irrelevant.

Yeah now we lost our post count I'm back to having a shitty title :( Not that I had a massive post count before but it was closer to being able to have a custom title than it is now.

It's not just post counts but the amount of time registered which counts towards the privileges. Currently, to get custom titles an account has to be 3 years old and have 1500 posts.

I've tweaked the post count values for forum promotion. Anyone who has > 50 posts and has been here 3 years can use a custom title. This is a temporary value due to the forums being wiped and all, however the final value will still only be a few hundred.

In my opinion reverse engineering someone's user title to work out their post count is as much effort or more than actually clicking on their profile and having a look. Post counts still exist, and you can look at them all you want. They have just been removed from the post mark to de-emphasize their importance.
