In your opinion, yes. However, in my opinion, Sony have marketed this as Compensation for the time PSN was down (or are they compensating for potential raping of your personal details?). As such, compensation implies that each "victim" will recieve equal value form said compensation. Eg; If $1 million was the compensation it would be distributed between the 77 million PSN users (gee that figure makes me laugh)
This is not the case. It is very clear WHY they offered this selection of games, because Sony know that the majority of users would already have these titles (they can pull this info from their servers-assuming that info has not been hacked), and therefore the value of this compensation is diminished (and the impact on Sony is lessened). They make an argument that these are "top rating" titles, and "yes" they are. But they are old, old titles that a vast number of people already own/played.

If you don't own the titles, then you are clearly recieving "compensation". If you do own all the titles, then what compensation are you receiving?. (Please don't say 1 month PSN+ subscription-that's a whole different argument).

To be honest, any compensation for the down time is being generous. The network was actively attacked by an outside source. If it had been a issue that came from within Sony's network, then you could say that they should offer a form of compensation. But ultimately, it's a free service. I'm pretty sure there's not contract in place that details PS3 owners are guaranteed to have access to the PSN and it's online services. Sure, it's a pain in the arse to the consumer, but we're not entitled to anything. Those who have Plus or Qriocity accounts obviously should have their subs extended though.

I'm not going to argue that the games offered as compensation haven't been chosen tactically by Sony. Hell, the 2 primary games offered have sequels out now or out soon. Naturally, upon this realisation we will raise an eyebrow at this decision, but really, any proactive business would do this. The company will also resume Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity™ for PlayStation®3 (PS3®), PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), VAIO and other PCs. The company implemented considerable security enhancements to the network infrastructure, as well as conducted testing of the payment process and commerce functions. The first phase of PlayStation Network and Qriocity restoration began on May 15 in the Americas and Europe/PAL territories, followed by Japan and Asian countries and regions on May 28, when the company brought partial services back online. With this partial restoration users were able to access to some of the services such as online game play, account management, friend lists and chat functionality were restored. The full restoration of PlayStation Network as well as part of services to become available on Qriocity will include:

• Full functionality on PlayStation®Store
• In-game commerce
• Ability to redeem vouchers and codes
• Full functionality on Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, VAIO and
other PCs
• Full functionality on Media Go

Customers can now purchase and download games and video content from the PlayStation®Store on PS3 or PSP. In addition, consumers will have full access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity through PS3, PSP, VAIO and other PC’s. Service restoration of Video on Demand powered by Qriocity™ and Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for a variety of network-enabled Sony devices will be announced later.

inFamous - Very Crackdown, although I'll admit I liked the jumping better there. Similar to Dead Nation, WTF is with the visuals? Everything is blocky as hell and I'm fairly sure there's no AA whatsoever. I thought part of the draw of PS3 over Xbox was superior visuals in exclusive titles? Hope the second one looks better.

Considering the price of the Vita, I'm mildly surprised that a Ps3 price-cut wasn't announced. I wonder if both Sony and Microsoft are both waiting on each other making the first move.

Uncharted 3 looks appropriately spectacular. Fanboy hyperbole says it'll be the best looking console game seen to date. The footage seen thus far certainly points to this being the case. On the other hand, Resistance 3 looked positively dull. I can't think of a single reason to want to play that at all, based off what was shown, and you'd assume that they'd have elected to demonstrate one of the more exciting moments.

Oh it should still be there, go to account settings and history or some shit and you'll see the welcome back thingo and you click on it and you should be able to pick your second game.

If it's just for communicating in game then get the PS3 bluetooth headset second hand from GAME or somewhere that sells them. Mine was really cheap, like $10-$20 or something. Works great.
