I think my fan has burnt out of my laptop. I'm not 100% sure but I often don't hear it whirring. My dad's friend looked at it and gave it a bit of a blow. He also put a program on it which monitors the temperature. So far it's varied from 65ish celcius for GPU to 87 for GPU. It doesn't say CPU but Core is often between maybe 58 and 70. I'm backing up everything as I suspect it's run its race. I really hate the idea of getting it sent away as I can't do without it for a long time, I'm an addict. Is there any way I can replace the fan myself? It's been sitting on GPU 73C for the past 10 minutes.

I've never attempted to replace a fan on my laptop's PSU, I know that it'd be more difficult than a desktop PC though. Best advice is to make sure your laptop has sufficent airflow at all times/get it fixed somewhere and then sleep through the ordeal of "no internet" fever :p
Also guys if you're not going to say anything relating to the thread, do it by pm/profile comments

Buy a cheap netbook to use in the meantime.

She doesn't have a credit card and lives in the middle of nowhere. I don't like the chances of finding a cheap notebook with those conditions ;)

Well then just keep a small desktop fan blowing on the laptop so you can keep using it.
