I thought it might be interesting to see how many old games people have finished in their entire life. Only rule is you can't include games that you cheated in order to complete or used a walkthrough for an adventure game which is exactly the same as cheating. Also no emulators it must be done on the original system and preferably not using autofire function on aftermarket joypads. Here's my list:

(will edit and add other system games later, took ages to compile this list!)

I have beaten games like Secret of Mana too, but there is no skill in that. Or in most games where you can save, or arcade games if you use continues. I will post my list of games that I have beaten in one credit though (not including really easy games like Mario etc)

Solar Striker [GB]
Nemesis [GB] (1 Life Clear)

Streets of Rage 2 [MD] (Axel)
TMNT: Hyperstone Heist [MD] (Don)

Street Fighter Alpha [PS2]
Street Fighter Alpha 2 [PS2]
Street Fighter 3: 2nd Impact [DC]
Ranma 1/2: Chougi Ranbu Hen [SFC]

I did go back and beat the bane's of my youth, Zork I, II and III. I had to use a guide for some of the most impossible puzzles but it was great to finally see those final screens.

I did finish Return To Zork without using a guide, so there.

An oldschool game I'm proud of finishing as a kid was Green Beret on NES, or maybe it was Rush'n'Attack on NES (a port of an arcade game called Green Beret in the US I think) one of those old platformers where you had to basically memorise the entire game from start to finish to get through it.

Finishing most games like Super Mario Bros 1-3 isn't really a challenge I don't think, unlike, say, finishing Gradius or hard games.

I think I finished Leather Goddesses of Phobos without a guide. Finishing Ultima V took me freaking years, had to read a guide to do it only to find out that a wall near the end of the game was actually a force field and could be destroyed by something which anuls forcefields, it was a totally cheap 'puzzle' if it can be called that.

With the exception of Ninja Gaiden (which I didn't finish) any recent game probably can't be bragging rights compared to some old, actually hard game.

Space Invader's, i played until the game froze. Game freeze's arent really considered to be beating a game, but its better than a game over screen.

Space Invaders
Tetris
Bubblebobble
Pokemon Pinball
Alleyway
Pictochat
Whack'a mole
Breakout
SuperBreakout
Extremebreakout
The inhumane 'punishment materialed content' games such as barbie, hello kitty, garfield, spiderman, spongebob, all on gbc, gba, gb, handhelds basically.

Haha. There are other games I have beaten though, I just don't feel they're worth posting. Same with a couple of 1CCs actually, but then again I do have a really easy game like Ranma on there.

Not always true - I would feel MUCH more proud about 1CCing Mushihimesama Futari (2006, I think) then any of the STGs that I have ever beaten!

I'd probably regard finishing Super Mario Kart as a real achievement, getting the last two cups on hardest settings was pretty darn hard as I recall.

due to my short attention span I rarely finish games.
Games I have completed that I can remember are:
Sonic 3 and Knuckles (all 7 emeralds, all 7 super emeralds, as Sonic&Tails, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails)
Final Fantasy 7
Tekken 2 all difficulties
Tekken 3 all difficulties
Street Fighter 2 (Mega drive)

You get a bit too technical there when you decide what games are classified as hard its objective so everyone will have a different opinion. To make it simpler better to post any games you finished.

There may be some easy ones but finishing most old games is an achievement, unlike new games they did require skill. Also if one thinks like you they could argue that games where you don't get gameover because you can continue infinitely is cheating.

For example noone can dispute Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts doesn't require skill to finish. Even though you can continue as many times as you want if you're not good enough to beat the final boss or pass some levels you'll never be able finish it.

lol! nah you may think the list of games is long but really for me it's not. I've had well over 200 games (copier) since around 1993-1994 so for me the list is quite short considering I have been playing some of these games for 15 years before finishing them. but I only started recording finished games recently though and the ones I remembered, so I must of missed a couple

All games played with infinite credits take either take very little skill or none at all (games with instant respawns). This is because if credits are infinite then you can't actually lose. If you can't lose, there is no punishment for failure, and how is anything supposed to be challenging without that?

And I think you meant subjective, no objective. Subjective it is indeed. So, with the knowledge in the above paragraph, that's why I made it simpler by only posting my 1CCs!

Your second paragraph kind of confuses me but for the record, I never use credits, ever. I don't feel that doing so would be "cheating" per se, but I do believe that by using them you are robbing yourself of the experience and challenge.
