Was announced during Quakecon and its playable on the show floor which means it might be sooner rather than later (although no release date yet).
Nerve Software (the guys that did the first game) are doing the port. Apparently there is also a new episode!
**** yes!

Pretty sure that's the E1M1 music from the original Doom...
Check here (http://www.doomworld.com/classicdoom/info/music.php?wad=doom.wad).
Doom II didn't have episodes in the same way that Doom did, though it was split into 3 distinct sections with an intermission between each.
If it costs the same as Doom (400 points) then I'll grab it for sure, if not - pass!

Oh **** yes! I consider Doom II to be one of the greatest FPSs of all time, and I will be getting this instantly! Although I have never actually beaten that one level vs. that hell boss/gate thing without becoming immortal :/ (I just cheated, got past it, and switched it off for the rest of the awesome, awesome game).
I can't wait! With Duke 3D already, and Perfect Dark and Doom II coming up, the 360 is now the ultimate home of the greatest FPSs of all time!

Well I thought those 3 sections were considered episodes (especially given the OP where a 'new episode' is supposed to be in it.
But my da nanas were definitely from Doom 2!

I guess that "dana nana nana nana nanana" is a bit hard to translate into music, but just in case you skipped downloading the tracks here are the direct links:
Doom: E1M1 - "At Doom's Gate" (http://www.doomworld.com/music/d_e1m1.mid)
Doom II: MAP01 - "Running From Evil" (http://www.doomworld.com/music/d_runnin.mid)
Give them a listen, I'm sure you're thinking of the original Doom track.
Where does the article mention a new episode? Am I missing something?
probably be 800 points. **** that.

Huh, you are right then. Well there you go, obviously I'm starting to forget me Doom in my old age. Or something. >_>
And I just got that 'new episode' from voltron's post at the top, I'm assuming he heard that elsewhere.

Doom II: Map10 - "The Demon's Dead" (http://www.doomworld.com/music/d_dead.mid)
Would be my favorite.

Yeah cause you would never waste $5 on lunch or anything. Or buy a waffle ice cream from Baskin Robbins.

Putting price shit aside, what I love about these DOOM games on XBLA is the fact that I never really played them properly back in the day. I always had IDDQD & IDKFA on rather than progressing through the levels like the were meant to be played. So playing them properly on XBLA is a genuinely enjoyable experience. I loved the time I spent with the first DOOM.

Actually 800 points works out to be around $13.50, so it is a good lunch.

I meant the difference between 800 and 400 is around 5 bux.
I get that when youre buying lots of XBLA games is easy to get a bit "price sensitive". And Im guilty of that too. But when it comes down to it we waste so much money on random shit during the day that its stupid to complain about 5 bux for a product that you will kepp forever - and it DOOM II's case will keep you entertained for 10hrs +

This. It's ridiculously easy to get hold of for cheap or for free, and with a ton of source ports available like GLDoom and ZDoom, what's the appeal of an Xbox version? Aside from the 200 achievement points and undoubtedly laggy multiplayer that folks will play once and get tired of?
If everyone is so keen on playing it, why don't you just do it on your PC?

Is Quake 1 even happening? Q3Arena was show at Quakecon, if I recall right, so that cn't be far off either.

you mean until microsoft no longer support the platform, right? no digitally distributed games are forever as far as I'm concerned.
I still think it's a jip for what it is.

Legally, digitally distributed games don't even belong to you. Microsoft has the right to take them away from you at any time.
