Figured it was about time we got a thread together for this.

Firstly, I just found a PC application called My Mobiler (http://www.mymobiler.com/), which basically does this:

Handy, since my i-mate JASJAM's screen has mysteriously taken display-breaking damage, and now mostly displays white with various nasty cracks and erratic lines interspersed.
It didn't require any kind of installation on the phone (although for all I know, it may've done as much transparently >_>), otherwise I'd probably still be screwed.

Anyway, post up your experiences with Windows Mobile devices, apps you use or found helpful at some point, questions and requests for help, etc.

Overall I'm definitely a fan of the operating system, and if the hardware would stop giving me grief (and since I got it for free, I'm not complaining), and had a WM version of MS Paint been bundled in, my user experience would probably have been optimal.

I use midlet manager with Opera Mini as my browser. Unfortunately I bought my phone before HTC started including Opera and a crapload of RAM.

The google maps app. Good for when there's a POI not in my GPS.

Lastly the Youtube app, because it's the only reliable way of getting Youtube consistantly running AFAIK.

Good to see a lot's going on in here. >_>

I've used My Mobiler a few times briefly. Pretty handy really, just haven't found the need to use it too much.

Has anyone tried out any 6.5 ROMs? I've been keeping up-to-date with them on my Omnia, and it seems to be coming up nicely. One of the big things they seem to be working on is finger friendliness.. and it seems to have come a long way from whatever version was pre-installed on the Omnia.. 6.1 I think.

Hmm, the image in my first post didn't respond well to hotlinking. FFS

I'm pretty much on the market for a new phone again after my i-mate's screen died - MyMobiler only really providing a stopgap solution - so I won't have a lot to add here for a while.
I was suitably impressed with Windows Mobile, though, so I'm probably going to opt for another WM phone for the replacement.

In fact, apparently there's been word of a release date and price (http://www.examiner.com/x-20129-Denver-Games-Gadgets--Technology-Examiner~y2009m8d26-Sprint-HTC-Touch-Pro2-official-release-date-pushed-to-September-8-retails-at-599) on this baby:

http://www.navigadget.com/wp-content/postimages/2009/02/htc-touch-pro-2.jpg

The HTC Touch Pro2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Touch_Pro2), that is.

Apparently US$600 is <$800 over here, which is pretty darn tempting. Would I be able to import one of these babies and get it set up with a service provider here?

EDIT: Apparently it's already seen limited release - my bad. >_>
I also saw Touch Pro2's going on ebay for ~$670 (not sure what currency that's in - I don't frequent ebay), same deal as the question above: seems to be an American seller, will the thing function properly over here? Also, can I trust the seller enough to spend the bigger part of $1k on a relatively rare and highly coveted electronic device from them?

EDIT2: I should really (http://www.smoothmobiles.com.au/HTC-Touch-Pro2-p/htc-touch-pro2-blk.htm), really (http://www.mobicity.com.au/htc-touch-pro-2.html) do my research in future. I'll probably go with one of these two; apparently Telstra are flogging them for ~$1500 in limited stores, too, if I want to give up eating for the next month.

Just when I was going to buy a Touch HD, AT&T put out a UMTS 850-compatible Touch Pro2 (http://www.smoothmobiles.com.au/product-p/htc-tilt2-blk.htm). Good price, and I think the name carries a bit of nerd cred. >_>

Also, new in the world of Windows Mobile:

http://www.htc.com/europe/product/hd2/overview.html

I'm not really interested in waiting around for an affordable NextG-compatible one, though - by which time I'd end up stalling for the HD3 or something.

There's probably some other interesting WinMobile developments, but I cbf at the moment.
