IGN have a review up (http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/101/1014821p1.html), and the score is to be expected for anyone familiar with Raven's history of dependably mediocre-yet-competent developing.
It looks like something I'd enjoy but it's up against Batman and Halo 3 ODST and whatever other good stuff is going to be streaming in from September onwards. So I'll look at it when it's $40.

Same, simply because as soon as I saw the game had bullet time I wanted to punch the developers in the face for being idiots and destroying a once great series with bullshit.
But it's still Wolfenstein and I want to play.

The campaign is fairly good, if unspectacular. But the multiplayer is terrible, a real let down.
I'll be returning it fairly soon, not sure if I'll bother finishing it or not.
As soon as I read it was being made by Raven my interest in this went to 0.

The name is just synonymous with Mediocrity. I can't believe that freakin' Id and any publisher of note haven't worked that out - but I guess they just put Id on the box (as they have every time since Doom-clone Strife I think) and it sells regardless.
Have they ever crawled above 7/10 or are they just the developer you call for someone else's IP or a clone of something?

Id meeting: "So, Wolfenstein. Will we handle it in-house and do it right, or do we just want to cash-in on the name value and just concentrate on Rage?"
"Nah, look, I think it's only worthy of a cash-in. Rage is more worthy of our time."
"Okay, glad we agree there. We'll palm it off to Raven. It'll at least be average-to-passable at that rate."

At least Rage looks fantastic!
TBH though, I think of id as a company that just make engines along with a game to demo it - then make their money licensing it out.

But who actually licenses Id engines? Apart from Raven? Everyone of note uses Unreal Engine 3.
Id also have to be given marks as the company who makes the best use of their own engines. The Doom games were not surpassed by anyone afaik, and I don't even know if the Doom 3 engine was even used for any other game, but for a tense, pants-shitting experience (I played on xbox) Doom 3 was at the top of the pile (at least for the fisrt 2/3 of the game before it goes to Hell, literally and critically.)

Yeah. Id aren't really the big engine guys anymore (Were they ever actually?). They simply make their own engines for their own games.
Carmack has said that Rage has no repeating textures :eek: !
As it turns out there is only 5 games not made by id with id tech 4.
Just looking at the games made from id tech 3 and I didn't realise Raven made Jedi Outcast - so they've at least made on great game!

The Quake 3 engine got a bit of mileage!

Woah, information overload!
That was sarcasm.

See, I was highly conscious that Raven made the Jedi wotsit games and found them to be 7.9 out of 10 at best. Which is competent yet mediocre in my ratings system.

What were the games?
* Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil – Nerve Software
* Quake 4 – Raven Software
* Prey – Human Head Studios
* Enemy Territory: Quake Wars – Splash Damage
* Wolfenstein – Raven Software
* Brink – Splash Damage (not out yet)
Admittedly one of those is an expansion and another isn't out yet - but yeah!

Interesting to see that list compared to Unreal Engine 3. I know at least Bioshock was on it and thus trumps that entire list.
