Prety simple thread really. I've been using these for the past year or so:

(Logitech Premium headset)
One of the speakers in it has died and I'm only getting mono sound, looks like a time for an update methinks. What would you guys recommend? What headphones do you guys use?
To me comfort is a priority as any time I'm on my pc I use headphones, having a sleeping youngser and all that. Is usb worth it as well? From what I've been told they won't use your soundcard...

Hah Azza I'm using the same ones, they're pretty craptastic.
I really should invest in a better headset.

I used to have the exact same ones and they used to be incredibly painful on my ears if I used them longer than 10 minutes.
Currently using these Plantronics ones. They seem alright, for something I picked up for about $30.

Arg! My ipod headphones need just about replacing, stupid flimsy apple products.
The cover around the joint has eroded and now the cable is exposed.
Oh well probably about time I upgraded anyway.
I'm pretty poor so $100 is probably my limit, I've never had a problem with the ipod buds sound quality, maybe I just haven't been spoiled by better quality headphones but they do the job for me.
I'm thinking of getting buds again because it's so convient to wrap them around my mp3 player of choice and whack them in my bag, with all that in mind any suggestions?
EDIT: Looking at these ones. Thoughts?

I'm looking for a fairly solid wireless headphones with microphone. Looking around on the net it's not easy to find a good set. I'm more interested in comfort over premium sound quality (2.1 is fine). Don't really wanna spend more than $200.
Something like this:

Damn I wish newegg would ship here. :s

Second. They're the best out of 4 pairs that I've had (including a pair of Logitech that actually hurt to wear), and the sound quality is decent, too.

Using these atm. Sound quality in games is pretty good, and the mic is excellent. The force feedback doesn't really work since you need to have the volume at ear splitting levels for it to be really noticeable (or there's some setting I'm not aware of). Around $90 when I bought mine, though.

Anyway, my setup:

Victor JVC SU-DH1 Dolby Headphone surround unit.
I also have a Buttkicker attached to aid tactile bass response. It's what I use for quiet listening and HT duty in our apartment.

Presumably Azza is looking for a headphone and mic set up, so something like what Vicious has would be a complete waste of time.
I've got Sennheiser 166 USB (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_367&products_id=3442) which are very comfortable (especially compared to the logitech phones I used to have) and also came with a little usb plug so I can use them with my ps3 or just plugged into my pc audio jacks.

Yet better than any headset setup.
Whatever happened to clip-on or desktop mics?
Also, in his post he says headphones and not headsets.
You guys posting up photos, could you also give the model number of your headsets?
Cheers. :)

you're right I did, but I did mean headsets >.<
Cheers for the suggestions guys. I was thinking about picking up a pair of those plantronics ones that surgeon suggested, I've seen them at Harvey Normans and JB's, but the price was closer to $80 so that makes me hesitant. Where'd you pick that set up surg?
I didn't really want to spend much more then $100 though, while I've heard the sennheiser's are pretty tops I think they're a bit out of my price range.
EDIT: Texta, do usb mic's work with the ps3? I thought they had to be bluetooth.

Is anyone using Headsets with a USB connection? I need to get a new one and my current headset set with the analogue speaker/mic connection is on it's last legs.
I was looking at the Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset as a replacement.

Also, in his post he says headphones and not headsets.I think that in any thread there's an element of having to interpret the intention of the poster rather than taking their words totally literally. In this case where someone has named and posted a picture of the item they want replaced, it's probably not that hard to guess that they want something with similar functionality.

First he asked what we'd recommend and what we ourselves use. I use headphones and a mic, and will always suggest them over a singular headset. The quality to dollar ratio is astronomically in favor of a separate solution compared to an integrated one.
Headphones and a separate mic fill the functionality requested. So in the end, what is the purpose of your argument?

Indeed. Cheers to the mod who changed the title.
I picked up those platronics headphones mentioned earlier in the thread btw, but I figure this thread can be used as a general advice thread anyway.

Headphones.com.au is an awesome website. Huge range and free shipping, cheaper than buying in store I'm pretty sure as well.
My Sennheiser CX-300s just broke (they earpiece literally fell apart, I tried to make a temp fix with blu-tac but ended up breaking one of the wires, bit of a retard move there) but luckily I had the ones that came with my Nano to fall back on. Still, would prefer a pair of canalphones, something to look for in the future I suppose.

Not necessarily! HD465 (http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/30727-hd465)s for $99, which are somewhere in the high mid-range of their home listening line. They probably aren't up to scratch for a certain audiophile perfectionist in this thread, but us regular people would find them perfectly sufficient for gaming, movies and the like. Note that those are an open design though, so listening at anything more than a moderate volume is going to be audible to those around you.

does any one know if there is something similar that would work on the 360?

I don't believe so, no. :( I've seen some people mod the microphone into their headphones though, which would do the trick if you just set the output to "speakers", but you wouldn't be able to change the volume without opening up the blade and going to preferences.
Might have a crack at it on my aging HD437s whenever I get around to upgrading.
EDIT: http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/xbox-360-controller-headset-wiring-diagram.htm
If you really wanna get crazy, for my next step, im going to replace the headset I soldered on with a short headset extension cord that ends in a female adapter so you can plug in any headset at any time. Patent Pending!
After the rather successful Western Digital HDD dupe, I'm strongly considering doing this.
