At least a few times this concept comes up in the bible. "The honored (or the proud) will be humbled, and the humble will be honored." Any thoughts on this concept?

Here's a few in case no one else has any right away. It seems holding too much pride is being equal with being an a**hole, but if you don't strut and brag it up, your humble skills will passed up not by someone more skillful, but noticed because of how it's boasted or bragged about. On the other logic train, so many believers I've met are very prideful. Strutting like they are a step above the rest because of well they are in their beliefs, but then again shouldn't everyone have pride in what they believe, whether they are generally nice or not? I think most if not all the rules and guidelines in the bible have a practical reason attached to it, not just a law to obey. Do any of the practical applications of being humble or being prideful outweigh the spiritual reasons for the laws and guidelines?

I try to put across an air of humility irl, but in my mind I'm reminding myself of how freakin awesome I am.

I'm too cocky and arrogant to be humble.

Not really. I went through a stage where I tried to be but my aura of superiority is just FAR too strong and noticable to others.

I don't really do any one thing well enough to be cocky most of the time, but if I do something really well I want to be recognised for it and will find any opportunity to bring it up. I know I do this and have been trying to stop doing it. All part of my quest to be a better person, but like all personal improvements, I sometimes slip back int old habits.

I try to but my narcissism won't allow it.

Im act fairly humble when people tell me I did a good job at something (like after a gig). Not too sure how to react so usually I just saying something like 'thanks but we played pretty rubbish tonight I thought'

Of course there are nights we play where I think we were the shit. And I let everyone know it.

That's how you make one.

Anyway, I'm humble on certain things . . . others . . . not so much.

Well, it appears I have to suck my own; thanks Vicious!!

edit: it appears I don't because I don't seem to have that option in my details page :(

It's an option only available to humble people.

I think in real life I'm probably reasonably humble. If I am talking about my achievements I'll usually do it in a fairly self deprecating way.

I'm not humble, but I am modest at times. There's nothing better than when somebody already knows you're awesome, but you just play it down. Makes you seem even more awesome.

In other words acting cool and doing it well.
