Zane Malik is a young detective at the Major Crime Squad. He is also a Muslim. And as a Muslim detective in a post 9/11 world where just to be an Arab, is to arouse suspicion and fear, Malik feels under pressure to prove himself, over and over.
Awesome new Aussie cop drama set in the western suburbs. Really pulls your heart strings.
Acting is first class and character development is brilliant.
Worth checking out...

Noooo way, that's awesome.
Not sure? I watched three episodes in two days after I stumbled across it on the ABC website. I am now officially hooked...

I got a freebie copy of the DVD a bit over a year ago (it's actually been around for quite a while, I remember its original run on SBS). I watched one episode and....couldn't keep going. Honestly I thought it was awful and tacky. I watched it with my mum, because she'd expressed interest in the show, and her basic reaction was that it was so piss-weak that she thought it was trying to be a parody.
If anyone tries to argue the point with me, I only watched one episode and only remember dribs and drabs so you win in advance. >_>

Share Jickle's sentiments. Saw the first few eps during SBS's original run, and didn't really keep going.

Successful exploitation media knowingly lampoons itself. When it doesn't, it's so awful that it seems like it should be, but doesn't pull it off at all.

I can actually see where you guys are coming from, but I'm still enjoying the concept.
I hope it does more to combat racism in Australia because we need it...
