After immensely enjoying Burnout Paradise lately I feel like another racer for the PS3. Unfortunately Forza 1, 2 & 3 which seems 100x more interesting than Gran Turismo (where sequels also come out much faster) is not available on the PS3. I hate the NFS series so that's out, Ridge Racer 7 didn't grab me that much and Initial D is a bit too focused on drifting and its in japanese.
I've already played the original Motorstorm and got more frustration rather than enjoyment but does Pacific Rift improve the mistakes or is it more of the same but gone tropical? Juiced is too much of F&F, Dirt has too much dirt and I can't remember much about GRID. As good as Forza? A bit more arcadey?

I'm guessing GRID is the odd one out? :p I've never seen the appeal of Gran Turismo, owned the 2nd sequel, found it pretty boring and with too much customisation where I kept thinking 'more expensive' is better but then I'd ruin the car somehow

Wipeout HD, Pixel Junk Racers and Flatout Ultimate Carnage (if you can get it on PS3) are the main games I can think of.
Theres also Pure, Fuel and Lamborghini Challenge (or whatever its called).

Forgot to mention I've already got Wipeout HD, don't have Wipeout Fury though (I've had too much Wipeout) - enjoyed it for a while, now I can't really get back into it since I prefer cars to hover vehicles. Midnight Club LA was too frustrating, Pure seems to be more about tricks than racing but Fuel does look quite interesting. Test Drive Unlimited seems a bit too dated to go to now
Still want my Forza though :(
edit: Starscream, that won't work on my PS3 :p

Pure (in which you race with ATVs) is awesome fun if you're after some SSX style racing.

I actually picked this up on the weekend, and am having an immense amount of fun with it. It may lack the visual polish of other racers, but that's possibly due to the massive island that's open to you. Its dedication to the enigma that is the car, is second to none; switching the first person cockpit gives you a real sense of being in the car due to how intricately recreated the interior is. Should be able to pick it up pretty cheap now too, so I'd say it may still be worth a look.
Looking over IGN's review list for PS3 racing games, only one other possibility sticks out
Supercar Challenge (http://au.ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1021883p1.html) - sounds like a bit of a flawed masterpiece.

What GranTurismo should have been, instead of the sedate bump-a-thon that it is.

I played the living shit out of TDU for over a year, immense amount of fun. Still hanging for a sequel but Eden haven't made any major announcements about it for a while..... If there are still people playing it then I'd thoroughly recommend it.
GRID is apparently a very pretty game and a good arcade racer, however, if you like a bit of realism I'd look elsewhere. Driving model is floaty rubbish, apparently.
I've heard that Ferrari Challenge is good, if a bit limited and narrow in scope.

I had a quick look earlier this morning and all I found was a statement saying work would commence after 2009.

Man, I might pick up a copy again if the price is right and you'll be playing for a while Laz? I had so much fun just cruising around with dudes in that game, getting into street races and shit.....
Also, it's good to play with the controller. I get sick of setting up my wheel every time I play Forza 2.

Just started last night, so I can't see me dropping it anytime soon. Drove for half an hour in a Maserati just to cross the island, and then test drove a McLaren F1 GTR.
Was surprised to see there's still a few dudes online. Haven't gone up against any though.

Go play Trackmania Nation's Forever (starforce free wooo!), if your pour alot of creativity into some of your user created tracks, you could host a server up for people to enjoy them. Dont have your track any longer than 1 minute, short and sweet is what you want to aim for.

He did say he's looking a PS3 racer... but then this is gaming gen :/
Which, in that case. GET GTR2!

Yeah I put it in General gaming so I could also find out what's hot on other consoles in case I missed any and wanted to compare
Go play Trackmania Nation's Forever
Already have, fun for a while but eventually got sick of it especially during the gymnastic tracks
I'd be tempted to get TDU if it was on the PS3. I thought it was but only 360, PC, PS2 & PSP :( Must've come out just before the PS3?
Dirt 2 seems promising although I'd have to try a demo and see if I like it. I don't mind rally games (ye old Sega Rally 2) but the latest Sega Rally and V Rally didn't get me very excited

Don't have a 360?
I swear it was on PS3 as well. O_o
Oh well. DiRT isn't too bad I guess. I enjoy parts of it; could do without the stadium races, and transport trucks. So quirks with the driving though (surprising amount of braking power on a loose surface). My mian beef with DiRT having played the demo, is that its essentially more of the same, except doused in XTREME motifs (with the X-Games tie-ins and all). After playing skate and skate 2 a fair bit, I'm kinda over that whole aesthetic. Would be better if they got back to more professional off road racing; WRC, Dakar, hill climbs.
GRiD was a massive disappointment for me. I thought I was getting a decent licensed touring car game; instead it was something more akin to Burnout. Its a straight arcade racer, with really weird almost hovercar like physics.

Ridge Racer 7, but it's pretty rough in terms of difficulty.

Already mentioned I owned it at one stage (bought it for like $30), found that pretty meh. I'm quite hard to please :p

Nope, otherwise I would've pre-ordered Forza 3 ;)

Save for a 360 if you're truly itchin'! I've barely played my copy of Forza 2 but from what I can tell it's a far better, more approachable, more enjoyable, and more appropriately paced game than Gran Turismo has ever been! I'm no car nut, though, so opinions may differ across the place.

I don't see how MCLA was hard or frustrating. It's the best arcade-style racer of this generation.

That rubber band AI was seriously annoying since it still made it hard and after playing my friend's copy with the latest patches I had enough. Too frustrating, takes way too long to upgrade your vehicles & I spent a few solid hours with it. Plus I found it boring

I'm not that desperate, I just want the game on the PS3 :p

Might have to try MCLA myself, seeing as I love TDU's open tropical paradise. A urban setting might be a nice juxtaposition.
I just want the game on the PS3
Apart from Supercar Challenge, maybe F1CE?

WipEout Fury is by far the best racing game on the PS3, sadly.
TDU is pretty interesting though. My Dad bought it on PC after someone raved about it here at some point.
Honestly, though, if you like racing games you should buy an XBox 360. Forza 3 and Bizzarre Creations' new title, Blur, both come out in the next few months.

Phew, thank god :p Although looking at the trailer it feels a bit too similar to Midnight Club with powerups crossed with Flatout. I was hoping it'd be more arcade yet still a bit realistic. I'm not even quite sure of what balance of racing game I want (since Burnout Paradise is hardly realistic aside from the damage models) but I'll know it when I see it/play it. Perhaps I should tryout more demos rather than buying stuff from assumption
