For example: ****. Now that could be **** or **** depending on context but in my experience both words are interchangeable and that's when confusion arises.

If they're interchangable then does it really change the meaning of the sentence they're used in at all? Most of the time you should be able to tell what's going where

Examples:

You're a ****
**** you you stupid ****
well **** me drunk you ****ing moron
take your ****ing opinion and shove it up your ****ing **** you ********er!

When I labelled Telstra ****s over at Whirlpool recently for price-gouging on NextG-compatible versions of new phones, their filter replaced "****s" with "legends".

So now, I ****ing don't post at Whirlpool anymore.

Asterisks. I saw a skit on TV once where two scientists were experimenting with replacing swear words with different words in the automatic word generator in SMS. Incidentally I'd rather not say duck over f***.
