I have one Xbox 360 120Gb for sale.

It's a modified drive, done by myself.

The caddy (casing) is my original genuine 20Gb one, inside is a 160Gb Western Digital HDD, modified to run as a 120Gb drive.

It's identical in function and performance as a legitimate drive!

I have been using this for about 2 months now with absolutely no issues whatsoever.

Unfortunately I didn't expect my launch 360 to die and that I'd buy an elite 360 that comes with a black coloured 120Gb drive.

The only reason I'm selling this drive is because the elite 120Gb I have is black and the modified drive is silver and looks silly sitting on my black Xbox!

I had to scour my city looking for a cheap memory card in order to get my save games from it to my new drive. I had to do a lot of running around to do this :(

Here's the drive connected to my elite, with the screen showing it's 120gb, I will format the drive before sending it so don't worry about it having all my old crap on it.

The HDD next to my black elite HDD.

The bottom of the HDD, as you can see it is a genuine case. 3rd party ones don't have the stickers on the bottom. Note that the warranty seal over the screw whole is broken (obviously!).

The 160Gb drive I used to make the 120Gb on the left, and on the right is my original 20Gb drive.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Price: $95 + $10 registered post only. (R.R.P is $149.99 (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360harddrive120GB/default.htm))

I have the receipt for the 160Gb, which carrys a 3 year warrenty (I purchased the drive on 14/07/09, so you have most of the 3 years as backup).

I'm offering this here first, for a limited time, before offering it on another 2 forums. If I fail to sell it by then it will be going on Ebay.

In a few weeks I will have my original 20Gb HDD for sale, in another HDD caddy I've ordered, so keep an eye out for that auction if you want a 20Gb.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

EDIT 2:

I have tested Original Xbox games and they Work! so the below warning about it not working can be ignored. This is a fully functioning drive. I took a picture of it running BLACK.

It has been bought to my attention that the drive may not work with original xbox games. See this post. (http://www.hyper.com.au/forums/showpost.php?p=1113989&postcount=303) I WILL go and get an original xbox game tomorrow and test this ASAP. I want to be sure I'm selling a fully working drive not just for 360 use, but for original xbox use.

I'm confident the process I followed to modify the drive to work in the 360 took into account the use of xbox games, and will work as expected.

Just cross-post it in other forums now. First come first serve. There's hardly anybody here at Hyper. Don't bother selling it on ebay though, you will be outsold by Hong Kong sellers.

One of the forums I want to sell it on (PCPP) will have a hissy fit if I'm seen selling something there and somewhere else. Already had one of my threads there locked because I had it here also.

I know...

Try your pals at palgn.

Last time I posted there it got 75 views in one day versus 5 views in Hyper.

You know if you ever get a second console that drive could come in useful. LAN gaming is quite fun.

Ha! Had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to afford the elite! I'd have been just fine if my launch model didn't die, then I could keep this drive and not be petty over having a silver drive in a black xbox :P

Posted sale on PALGN, hopefully nab a buyer.

Hyper use to be great for selling stuff. Not any more it seems.

If you ever figure out how to make a 500GB drive work with a 360 and actually have 500GB storage space, be sure to let me know!

You can't. I think the dashboard is only designed to detect up to 120GB (this may be increased to 250 with the new HDD). You'd need to modify the actual 360 OS.

Well someone could make some sort of electrical switching chip, you how they had those memory cards for the PS1 in the past where you press a button to switch between banks of memory.

Say you had a 500GB drive, you partition it into 4 x 120GB partitions and just switch between them.

The new 250gb will allow us to mod our own 250gb drives eventually. Will just take a while for them to sort out the process involved etc.

how hard is it to mod a hard drive? I have an unused 250 gb here and wouldn't mind an upgrade.

Sorry to hijack.

You'll have to research it mate. Not just any drive can be used, only a select few can do it.
