So, you're given the oppertunity to fill a time capsule full of gaming systems/games/whatnot to be opened and played by gamers in 50 years time. What would you put in and why?
I would more than likely put in for their era comparison:
Resident Evil 4 - Survival Horror
Katamari - Casual games
Street Fighter IV - Competitive games
REQUIEM

Original thread bravo.
I would put Gauntlet 1, Outrun, Double Dragon, and Afterburner Arcade machines in there. I would also put a sega dreamcast with all the classic titles such as crazy taxi and bass fishing.
Edit: Im a fan of the classics.

Double Dragon Arcade - Pretty much the game that got me into video games
Then the rest are pretty much a favourite from each console generation I would want the future to experience (unless they've been re-released 10000 times in compilations in the last 50 years)
Wonder boy in Monster Land
Sonic 2
Banjo Kazooie
Zelda: Wind Waker
GTA4

I would put in NBA Live '95 and a megadrive to see if in NBA Live 2059 EA have yet to beat the classic. For mine, I seriously, seriously doubt it. I just played Live '10 and it's still shit. They will instead probably be promoting new features such as sweat that flings off in separate trajectories and actually wets the crowd's clothing. Or something.

Hahah.
My eyes threatened to detach from whatever holds them in my skull when companies promote those aspects of soon-to-be released games above actual gameplay innovations, or rather anything that'll actually contribute to the gaming experience. EA seem to consistent culprits in this case.

I'd chuck in the best game for each console I've owned, along with the console in question of course.
Sega Master System - Wonderboy and the Dragon's Trap
SNES - Super Mario World
Nintendo 64 - Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Gamecube - Zelda: Wind Waker
PS2 - GTA: San Andreas
XB - Halo 2...
360 - COD 4 or BioShock.
Wii - Super Mario Galaxy
GBC - Pokemon Gold
GBA - Jesus, how do I chose?! Might have to make a separate capsule for it.
DS - Zelda: Phantom Hourglass or Mario Kart DS

Haven't alot of ET cartridges already been "buried"? For time capsule purposes of course.
What games are you tossing up between on GBA ScToTeE?

Hmmm. Well I have a soft spot for the Golden Sun series. Then there's Zelda: Minish Cap and Metroid Fusion. A plethora of remakes of older games I never played before (though I'd probably disqualify them from taking the GBA spot i.e. Zelda: ALTTP should really only be counted as a SNES game). I don't know whether I'd include Pokemon: Leaf Green, for the same reason as other remakes, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.Fire Emblem, Advance Warsand Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Not to mention highly rated games that I haven't played yet, like Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
Anything you'd add or disagree with proofreeder? That is what I can think of off the top of my head.
EDIT: Just how much can I bold before someone gets annoyed? :D
XB - Halo 2...
Ugh. Put in the original & Halo 3 but please leave #2 behind.
Unreal Tournament
Team Fortress 2
Sins of a Solar Empire

Yeah, I'm not much of a Halo fan overall. I only put it in my imaginary time capsule because that seems to be THE game to have if you bought an Xbox.

Sins of a Solar Empire
God I have that somewhere on the shelf and got through the tutorial a few months ago and fully intended on getting into it but something happened... oh that's right, Fallout 1 and 2 finally clicked with me and what do you know three weeks later...
Then the Xbox arrived... :(

Fallout 1 and 2
Why I do believe these also should go in as well, just so people in the future who are playing Fallout 54: A Post-Pre-Post Apocalyptic Universe Game Presented By Bethesda know where the whole series started.

Maybe by 2060 the world will be post apocalyptic and the gameplay will just seem current. Or is that what you meant? I'm confused by the term "post-pre-post". If a poster posts "post-pre-post" then I post post the "post-pre-post" post, it seems somewhat prepostorous.

Nah, I just bought a DS recently is all. I went from Gameboy original to DS, wondering if there's anything I'd missed I should use backwards compat with.

Ha. Well the games I mentioned sure are worth the time if you wish to explore the GBA's library.

I wouldn't bother with a Time Capsule because the same games are simply regurgitated each generation anyway. And the real good ones would probably be kept alive by their publisher or dare I say it... pirates.

Chuck in a demo disc for the original Doom
1. Original stand-up Space Invaders arcade game.
2. KOTOR I and II and Morrowind GOTY on Xbox.
3. Oblivion and Bioshock on PS3.
4. Orange Box, STALKER Oblivion Lost and The Witcher EE on PC.
That's a good idea, they'd probably open it just in time to play through it and before Episode 3 is released.
