After sitting through yet another long drawn out loading/saving screen in Arx Fatalis it got me thinking; what's the best running game I've played?

Certainly not the crash-tastic Witcher, nor the lamentable Mass Effect's elevator load-outs and sloppy controls. Most, if not all of my Xbox games are load-pendous so hmmmm......

If push comes to shove I'd have to go for:

1. Best running - Timeshift, yes, a bolter this one but I have fond memories of going through that game with no crashes whatsoever and it ran like a dream. So smooth..

2. Least loading - Oblivion, that loading bar flew along it didn't even give me time to scratch my balls let alone flick my shaft.

3. Tightest controls - Bioshock, bugger you all I loved the combat and switching from incinerate to perforate was a joy to behold. Tight camera as well.

Thats because it barely ever loaded.

Best running - just about all games on consoles because your not messing around with setting or trying to get old games to run.

Least loading - Farcry 2, beats Oblivion because it doesn't load when you enter/exit a house.

Tightest controls - most FPS on PC.

Added some: Most loading - Vicy City and Deus Ex on Ps2.

Bad controls - Psychonauts on PS2, made me stop playing.

Can't really remember, I think I was getting the shoulder buttons confused or it was that you could only assign a limited amount of Psychic powers to the buttons. Got annoyed having to swap, I really should give it more time....maybe I'll get it on PC.

I've gotta agree with the mentions Oblivion is getting. Close to seamless game-world, the odd loading screen never halted gameplay for long, didn't really experience much slowdown either.

Yep. Straight to the PUSH START BUTTON screen in seconds. Great game.

Slightly off topic but.... slow loading DVD MOVIES. F_CK OFF!!! Making you sit through silly menu animations or piracy warnings. Worse still - those rental DVD that FORCE you to sit through previews. WTF!! Your only solution is to fast fwd thru each clip (the skip, menu and title buttons are disabled).

DVDs should load the film instantly or send you to a very fast options menu. CRITERION are great in this regard.

After playing it a bit last night, Batman: Arkham Asylum probably loads the least out of any game ive played.
