While Sony were attempting to talk up their products no one wants to sell at TGS, Nintendo attempted to steal some thunder by announcing what everyone already knew from catalogues anyway: Wii is getting a US$50 price drop in the States.

Which would be who-cares if not for the fact that a Wii Price drop is unprecedented in it's now three-years-ish on sale, and grossly overdue according to some.

It seems unlikely that it will cause Wii sales to leap ahead by as much as, say, the PS3, given the price drop is not as big and, let's face it, everyone owns a Wii already. With the except of "core" gamers like self who dumped theirs into the second hand market.

Are there any people here holding out on buying their first - or a replacement - Wii waiting for an AU price drop?

The only place I'm having a Wii in my house is in the toilet.

No, I'm holding out for a black Wii.

Fenrir, could you possibly be more affected?

Hell, I'd forgotten about the constantly prick-teased coloured Wii's that-never-come.

I'm not sure I take your meaning - if I have the right definition, Simons is in my avatar for a reason.

They'll should make it $300 here to let it compete better with the 360 arcade

It's been announced today, Aussies are not getting a price drop, just bundles.

I'd re-buy one if they dropped the prices of the games. But no. Zelda is still $100.

I got mine for an AWESOME price: FREE!! All I had to do was go down to Strathfield and sign up for a mobile account. That was over 2 years ago, too. That said, my mobile plan's with Telstra, so the joke's kinda on me now. :(

Bundles? What a bunch of tight arses. The price drop is nice for the US, but it's hard to escape feelings that it should have been the launch price. Woo, I guess?

I was really hoping they were going to bundle the motion plus, but I guess for some the bundle could be a good deal... Maybe...
