The pilot airs tonight at 8.30pm on channel 7.
After having just seen the first episode, I think this show has a LOT of potential. It felt a lot like watching the pilot of Lost to me. Which can only be a good thing. There was even an Oceanic airlines billboard! For those who hated Lost, the characters actually ask questions in this show :p
Let us know what you think. I'm looking forward to the next episode.

I'm tempted not to watch it simply because Channel 7 have been hyping it to hell, and have a permanent watermark advertising the show until it airs, and it's just been annoying as hell.
Does look interesting though.

I can't wait until the season 3 reveal that you're actually watching a flashback!

I'll watch it tonight but I've heard about the show concept and it's intriguing. I gave up on Lost partway through Season 3 so I hope this doesn't meet the same fate.
I'd wonder what the long term plan for the show is once they reach the time period that they flash forwarded to, unless they just do another flash forward or slow down plot progression time so that the entire series consists of that 6 month period. I'm sure the writers have already thought of these things though.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure they have a plan (if it lasts that long). Here's hoping because I really enjoyed the pilot.

Get out.
Blake: G
* Blake flashes back to when he was 7 years old, he is standing on a footpath and sees a 20c coin on the ground. He reaches for it but a brown boot steps on it. He looks up to see a mysterious man. *
Mysterious Man: Blake, I have an important message for you that you have to give to a man named Reginald in 22 years time.
Blake: What is it?
Mysterious Man: "Don't forget the turnips"
Blake: e
* Blake flashes back to when he was 16 years old, he is standing on that same footpath. This time he sees a 20 dollar note on the ground. He reaches for it but a brown boot steps on it. He looks up to see the mysterious man again. *
Mysterious Man: Blake, do you remember the message I gave you 9 years ago?
Blake: Something about potatoes, my memory ain't so good
Mysterious Man: No you fool, it was "Don't forget the turnips". Your life and the fate of the world depends on this message.
Blake: t
* Blake flashes forward to when he is 54 years old, he is again on that footpath and sees a credit card woth $20,000 on the ground. He reaches for it but a brown boot steps on it. Yep it's that mysterious man again, curiously he hasn't aged *
Mysterious Man: Blake, you did not give the message to Reginald, now look at this post apocalyptic world we live in
Blake: Yeah I just noticed that
Mysterious Man: Now you must take my place. * Pushes Blake into a time portal *
* Blake is now looking at himself when he was 7 years old, he allows his younger self to pick up the 20c piece and walk away without interfering *
Blake: o
* Blake flashes back to his 54 year old self in the time period of his 7 year old self. He sees another 20c piece on the ground and as his jerk younger self took the other one this one is his! A brown boot steps on it, he looks up to see... Reginald! *
Reginald: Blake, because of you I forgot the turnips. Without that extra Vitamin C my cure for the disease that wipes out 98% of humanity was a failure and 98% of humanity was wiped out
Blake: That kind of sucks, someone should have reminded me
Reginald: I sent my assistant, Mysterious Man to do it twice and because of extensive time travelling he ended up becoming his own father
Blake: That's pretty gross
Reginald: Tell me about it
Blake: So why was I the only one who could do it?
Reginald: YOU were my assistant, Mysterious Man
Blake: MIND BLOWN
Blake: u
* Blake now flashes forward to tomorrow when he was supposed to remind Reginald about the turnips *
Reginald: I feel like I'm forgetting something
Blake: Don't look at me
Reginald: Anyway, my cure for that awful disease is now complete
Blake: Well set it loose then, I'm bored
Reginald: There we go. Oh no, 98% of the population was wiped out because there wasn't enough vitamin c in the cure. I forgot the turnips!
Blake: Well use this time travelling thing to leave yourself a note
Reginald: It will have to be cryptic enough to remind me and not ruin the space time continuum.
Blake: Use numbers, those things are cryptic
Reginald: Yes I'll use 7, 16, 54, 20 - Those numbers have appeared at random points in this adventure so now they will make perfect sense
Blake: That's stupid man! Send a person back instead, they can remind you
Reginald: Ok then * pushes Blake into time portal *
Blake: and now to finish the final letter, ... wait I was 7,16 and 54 when future me who is my own father reminded me to remind Reginald to not forget the turnips. A monetary value of 20-something featured each time and the 20th letter of the alphabet is the final letter I need to speak! What a revelation!
Well at least it would be but I need to pad this series out for a little while longer before we can conclude this little thing so let's just say that I am also Reginald and I not only created the cure but I created the disease which is primarily based on turnips
Wow that just kind of wrote itself as I made it up
Wish I could pep for that

Nice screen. Didn't notice that. I hope they plant stuff like this each episode like they did with Lost. One of the best parts about that show was the online community and endless theories.

Hopefully it all comes together nicely and that Channel 7 don't push it's time slot to later and later time, like they did with lost.

Was ok, looks like one of those shows where if you miss a single episode then the series will be never make sense again.
Was ok, looks like one of those shows where if you miss a single episode then the series will be never make sense again.
At least it's not a Lost, where nothing makes sense no matter how many episodes you watch...
I'm intrigued to see where this is headed.
Two points of excellence:
- the father of the kid that knew Olivia's name is the guy she flashed about
- the footage at the end that showed the person moving around suspiciously during 'the blackout'
I like that they threw in a Minority Report curve with the future, too, implying that nothing has been set in stone. There's also the added intrigue of whether the characters are creating their own futures by accident or by deliberate avoidance.
Will definitely keep watching.

What I'd like to know is, in the main characters flashforward, he obviously knows about what happened, because he's working on the case.
So the futures people saw are futures where they know that they saw the future.
So it should be pretty easy to change your future.
Or at least not be in a office being attacked by 3 star rated terrorists.
Also lost makes perfect sense it's on an island.

I think that is what is so interesting. How do you react about seeing the future, especially if you want to change it. And can you?
Kind of like that black guy calling up that woman in England. Did he initiate a chain of events for making that phonecall?

Guy 1: You can't change the future
Guy 2: I had 2 arms in my flashforward. * chops off arm * Future changed.

It was Sylar.
I noticed in the preview for the next episode it's got Dominic Monaghan in it. With him and that wife doctor lady we've just got Lost actors popping up everywhere! (well 2 of them)

First ep was promising, I'll definitely watch more.
Also, I totally picked up on the Red Panda thing! Glad I'm not the only one. :D
Anyway, if anyone's interested, the series is based on a '90s sci fi novel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashforward_%28novel%29), but they appear to have changed the plot significantly for TV. I'll probably pick the book up in the near future and give it a whirl.

Apart from a few filler episodes, nothing in Lost was dragged out for the sake of it. Some people just want answers too soon and don't see the bigger picture. Considering the pace of FlashForward's pilot, I don't see it being as much of a problem.

Tbh I gave up on Lost during the second season. I don't have a problem with there being a bigger picture, or some things not being answered for a long time, but I found Lost to be ridiculous. I'm hoping FlashForward won't do that.

The thing I wanna know is about that kid that Olivia was operating on. Olivia never actually saw him in her flashforward. So he shouldn't know who she is.
fishfishmonkeyhat
04-10-2009, 11:23 AM
What if he saw her in his flashforward?
Also I think the flashes only showed that moment, it didn't allow them to remember everything that happened up to that point, so just because she didn't see him in her ff, doesn't mean she didn't talk to him the day before the ff.
FlashForward.
Stevorooni
04-10-2009, 12:17 PM
But they all flash forwarded to the same moment in time, so if he saw her then she would have had to have seen him, but he wasn't in her vision.
The kid must be behind the flash forwards
fishfishmonkeyhat
04-10-2009, 01:20 PM
Maybe the kid is stalking her under her bed in the ff? It would be pretty easy because he could have got a lift over with his dad.
Pauly
04-10-2009, 09:13 PM
But in the FF she never says her name. Nor does the dad say it. So even if the kid is hiding there he wouldn't have heard her name!
Besides you find out something in the next episode about the other kids FF, and it's not in the same place!
Stevorooni
04-10-2009, 09:28 PM
Maybe the kid looks at a photo of her which has her name on it in his flash forward

Who is this D. Gibbons? Charlie, the little girl, says it's a man. Her father thinks it's Deirdre. This is gonna be good. Will this hacker end up working with him, perhaps? Who knows.

Only watched a bit of tonight's episode before I got distracted but the thing that bothers me about the whole show is that they have this flash forward in time and then they work out exactly when that time they flash forward to is but all their visions aren't of them standing around excitedly saying "this is my dream from six months ago... here... no here".
