Ninokuni - DS

Okay so I don't know much (but I know I lo... sorry... get out of my head Aaron Neville) about this title other than it is being made by Level 5 of Professor Layton fame in conjunction with anime production power-house Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, My Neighbour Totoro, etc).

Looks to be a typical JRPG but with that distinct Ghibli feel about it; I don't speak Japanese but judging from the trailer the story looks to be filled with all the human emotion that makes the animation studio's works so timeless).

Apparently this was announced last year but I only just found out about it now and couldn't find a thread.

Anyway I'm super super excited!

I did hear about it ages ago but I too still have no idea what it's about.

And it'll probably be about 10 years before we get it here (if at all)

I think Level 5's success with DS games and JRPGs in general means we will eventually see it. The 'when' is the question.

If the release of Pandora's Box is anything to go by we won't see it until 2015 >_>

I'm half an hour through the recently released Japanese version of this, and it is brilliant. I've only just arrived at "The Another World" and have yet to enter a battle, so it's just been a prologue so far. There's a lot of text, with some of it voiced, and the Studio Ghibli vibe it puts out is amazing. The anime cutscenes are gorgeous, their art style is evident in the environments and Joe Hisaishi's score is brilliant.

I'm stuck though, because I need the spellbook that comes with the game so get past the part I'm up to. I'll wait till it gets uploaded online...

Nevertheless, playing this in Japanese has done nothing to dampen my enthusiasm for English release of both the PS3 and DS versions. Just playing the DS one, you can imagine each scene in full, gorgeous PS3 graphics - I can't wait :D

Sounds amazing, studio ghibli in JRPG form is a dream come true.

Did you import the game? <_<
