Does anyone here use a control pad with games on their PC?

I saw one today at EB for $20 bucks and it looked like a 360 controller. I imagine they would be great for driving and sport games, am I right? Any recommendations?

I've got one of those, it's decent, but the DPAD is horrible for fighters.

Those two types of games are probably the only ones I would even consider using a controller to play.
All I can say is get whichever controller you like the most.

I just use my wired 360 controller on the PC if a controller is required, works pretty well and just about any modern game recognises it as a 360 controller and automatically sets up the controls to what they would be in the 360 version of the game

Is that the Powerwave controller? It's quite decent for its price (I got 2 for $30 at game). They are pretty good for console ports (such as RE4 and DMC4) but really, get one if you feel like you need one. Agreed with Jubei though, the Dpad is a bit plasticky and dodgy.

You can use it for any game by using Xpadder: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Xpadder.shtml
Versions after 5.3 are not free.

You can also make it emulate a 360 controller (plug it in and games recognise it as a 360 controller). Useful for games that only support 360 controllers. http://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=4
Just remember to backup the files you replace.

A few games now seem to want you to use a 360 controller (The Last Remnant comes to mind), I use a PS2 adapter for NES and SNES emulator and a 64 adapter for obviously 64 emulator.

^edit dinopoke beat me to it.

Do what Stevo said. Fairly cheap, great controller and easy to use.
