Does anyone know whether this is possible: If my phone has GPS on it, will it show me where my current phone caller is ringing from? So, once the phone call has started, is there a way for me to see where their position is?

Well GPS isn't tied to phone calling, for one thing. The GPS units and the shit that talks to telephone towers might as well be two separate devices. Next, GPS units in phones just talk GPS services - satellites etc, they don't broadcast to other devices as a matter of course. To do that you would need to take codified GPS data and transmit it via a client. For the iPhone there are apps that do stuff like that such as HeyWAY, but they all require lots and lots of confirmations of location requests and adding trusted individuals to the system as a legality to stop possible stalking. And even then it's not tied to the telecommunication portion of the phone, sooooo, yeah.

can you find out where your caller is receiving their signal, like what tower their using?
also, what about those ads on tv where you can track your boyfriend is to see if hes shagging someone else?

No you can't. That information is not transmitted to your phone. Those TV ads are pure bullshit, they just give you some random location. Read the fine-print, it says it right there.
